Looked like a nice rattler. Ones we have here are almost black, up on the prop they are much lighter.

There would’ve been a decent amount of meat on it but it got into those rocks and got away.

In Tucson watching my daughter that's on a US tour. Her group does voice acting for some kind of spooky podcast. Younger generation is into weird Schiff.

Had to bury the small family dog today. He got run over and died, worst part was telling the kids what happened, closely followed by seeing it happen in the early morning dark.  Made for a rough morning.

As long as she’s having fun and staying out of trouble Ken.

Today I took a couple of guys to the shooting simulator and ran some new scenarios.  Some pretty intense LEO active shooter stuff, shoot no shoot.  Female former MP running the sims.  She was way cool.

She asked if I served.  Told her no but have lots of friends who did.  Mentioned Big D and she used a term I found hilarious.

When she found out he was a CW4 she laughed and said “oh, one of the untouchables”. Apparently CW4s are a bit of a misfit that neither the enlisted or the officers want to hangout with...or challenge.  She said “those guys know their Schiff”

After the sim session we went to live fire range and once again, this guy wanted to shoot for money.  I made a few bucks off him again.  Had to chuckle.  I’m shooting open sight glock 23 and he’s shooting a 8 inch “pistol” AR in 300BLK with a brace and red dot.

Yes, room clearing with force on force and Sims and some with airsoft. Still remember the NY ESU guy that clocked me right int he forehead with an airsoft round.  Drew blood. Then again I probably deserved it. Instructor had put us face to face and told us to fight in a prior evolution.   He went for his weapon. I palmed him in the solar plexus and while he was reeling, I cleared and hit him twice center mass with the airsoft.

The video based simulator is pretty unreal.  This is a 25x25 room with a 12 ft video screen.  The instructor can actually make the perp comply with verbal commands or make them a threat.

Wow.  That sucks.  The part of being the man in the family that no one really talks about.  We are always the ones that have to put down animals and bury them

Thanks gents. It was a rough day or so with the kids.  The bigger boys helped dig the grave, which as Don will attest to means that I used them to move the big rocks out after I dug around them.
Then we pointed them at craigslist to look at pups and dogs and they are all over that. Still a sad face here and there when Tiny doesn’t come running into the room with the bigger dog.  She’s actually the saddest still I think, she doesn’t have her little buddy to wrestle with.

Tore up the new 10x20 canopy up and one of the pool solar panels.

I hate the wind!

I feel you JR. Went to sight in my rifle last minute and it was interesting with a side wind gusting to 25.
Then the ranger started dying because the crankshaft sensor wires were grounding out, then someone locked us into the ranch. Took a while to get ahold of my buddy that owns it, to open the gate.

Block heater question for you durmax gents

Have a power cord that has a light on the female side of the plug.  When I plug it into my block heater cord it turns the light out. When plugged into any other power tool the cord light stays lit up and power tool functions

How do I check if my block heater is working?

I verified the cord is clear of any nicks or bare wire ( on the block heater cord)

Where does the block heater unit go into the block?

10 degrees this eve means truck will be cold in the am

Put an ohm meter on the hot and neutral blades of the plug.  If you get an open circuit you know it’s bad. If its 0 it would trip the breaker

Let us know what the reading is

I think you should get about 10 ohms, which would make it 1200 watts

Most of our cords have a Led light of sorts.   It’s a fast way to identify the cord is powered,  the breaker isn’t tripped.

Most of my extension cords are not lit, however I have several 2’ extensions that have a three prong female end with breaker and led light built in. As Dave stated it’s a safety thing and they are handy. I actually have one my chest freezer is plugged into in our basement. It’s an easy way to see gfi hasn’t tripped on it again....

Small deer down there in the deep southwest?

Comparing that critter to some of the whitetails around my farm, I'd say the deer are larger here. Still, a very healthy animal there!

Had to buy diesel from a place I normally don't, the place I normally buy it from had electric issue with the pumps. Paid $2.50 a gallon for some water!  Spent the day draining the tank, water separators and changing water separators and filters. I think I have all the water out of the system and good fuel in there. With still being on a #10 lifting limit was not what I had in mind as a funny way to spend my Saturday.

But better news oldest grandson High school football team is their district champ so now off to playoff.

The Air Force is planning on sending my Son back from the desert next week we are trying to set up a surprise next Friday at the last home game of the regular season

Helped a friend of mine sight in his 7mmMag for hunting in Montana. Pounded out a few shells to get him close, then let him confirm. Reminded him he'll have to reconfirm in Montana before he heads out on the hunt. Also drank a couple cups of coffee.

I honestly think that it could be a very relaxing day,   AC-heat.  Something good to listen to, audio books or pod casts.  And a nice cool drink

We however did concrete prep today,  needed to pull out a few inches of road base to pour concrete.
