Update:

I sprayed the dust off...It has become layered, like you see in layering of sedimentary rock on an exposed cliff.
I charged the battery
I removed the incorrect deep cycle battery and mounted it to my camper
I hooked a long dog leash to the pintle to keep Scout around while I'm washing him.
I think I did something else, but can't remember what...Oh yes, I sat in it and adjusted the mirrors!

Tex, Shawn, other concerned boneheads

You will be happy to learn

SquareD has been scheduled for pickup to be taken to one of the best diesel performance shops in Northern Kentucky

That will happen in two weeks (They are busy)

Sorry, no photos of the phone call, so in you'all's view, this may not have happened!  :undecided:

Why this happened you ask?

Leaf springs...

You see, I was wanting to install the longer...much longer silverado leaf springs on the truck but I can't.

Not because the truck doesn't run...But because I'd never hear the end of it from you knuckleheads

"I can't believe you're working on a truck that doesn't run!"
"When are you going to get it running"
"Spending more money on the truck that will not move"
"Hey, Don, find any lost and unused large metal objects in your garage lately?"
"I'm so out of here, waiting on this thing to get finished!"
"I can't live my life vicariously without my nightly feeding on SquareD posts and pics"
"Man! My addiction is real! Work on the DA_ TRUCK, will ya!"
"I never knew this level of frustration...Not since my last kid was born and the wife..."
"I never knew it was possible to hate someone just because he wasn't working on HIS truck!"
"I'm just about done with this site! It was only about that darn truck for me, and I would have lost my mind, but then there was this other component of the place...All this talk of God, yea, I guess that is OK too..."
"I have sowed my LIFE into reading about this truck...Since he stopped working on it, it has felt like I lost an old friend!"
"I think I have become depressed...No really! You go and start reading right here on part 1, see what it does to you!"

There you guys, said it all for ya!
What are friends for anyway?

OK, off to the farm for the kid in the cammo shorts!

For the record, I mainly come here to harass Ken about H. The rest of this is just a mild distraction from my main focus of giving Ken crap.

Oh & about time you sent it off to a professional, good for you! :likebutton:

I know it must cause all kinds of turmoil for you to yield to the infamous smoke show, but you've made a good solid decision.
Get er running properly, then finish up the punch list in your spare time...like you have some...

And you're absolutely right about the ribbing you would have gotten.

It's got to be something simple IMO, but the fact of the matter is what...
Let the pros sort it, and then you might even be able to have it move under its own power.

Several people from here, and in other circles have stated that they think it is a timing issue. The pump being one tooth off, that is.

Now I going to find out for sure.

^^^^ Love your spirit and commitment, man!

I've been busy with the farm and live. Let me see, buried my 99 year old WW2 Ranger uncle, after a long hospital stay, watched middle daughter deliver her first, married off the oldest daughter, played football dad while son played as a starter all the way to the superbowl. Oh and he broke his arm playing, casted up and stayed playing (Doctor visits). Preppin' for wife's 50th birthday bash (Not a small thing) had breakdowns/repairs by the many, and about forty flat tires. In the mean time the Dodge got covered with dust and is now totalled!

No one else is finishing this truck but Don.

Sorry to hear about your uncle, and Im thankful for his service to this country. Congrats on your son, grandchild and daughter. tell your wife shes getting more beautiful with age. Flat tires are trivial.

And nothing is ever totalled....

I told her...

So where were we with this thing anyway? You were going to point me toward some fuel pressure something or checking the injection pump being off a tooth? Honestly, I can't remember any more.

Someone said they thought you fixed the truck and have been driving it.

But yes, 18 psi minimum to the injection pump.
Then remove number 1 and 6 valve covers, bar the engine over by the alternator. We need to get number one at top dead center. There is a timing pin located underneath the the injection pump. When both rockers on number 1 dont move and pushrods are free to spin, push the timing pin in under the pump, should push right in. When number 1  rockers are loose number 6 should have one loose and one tight.

OK, you're talking about timing the engine, right?
We did that already, last winter.
Or are you after something else?

As for fuel pressure, With the new lift pump, we were over 18, I want to say around 25 psi...Its somewhere in this thread.

I thought you were thinking the pump was installed one tooth off or something like that. I didn't really understand that part, since the pump fits to the drive via a tapered shaft like the chuck on a drill press.

Yes, but the engine has to be correct. The pump timing could be off still if the gear was a tooth off. But we cant verify that unless the engine is at TDC. Fuel pressure is good.

OK, I'll go get the darned engine at tdc (again) for ya.

I purchased that tool that fits in the bell housing used to spin the motor over. Would that be easier than turning the motor over via the alternator pulley?

If you wanna crawl under the truck sure. I prefer to stay topside. 15/16 deep well and a half inch ratchet will suffice.

I just don't want to wind up missing a digit or limb.  I can sometimes get in a hurry to get results.
