Title: GM 6.6L Dual Remote Bypass System
Post by: mjmbrown on May 10, 2016, 07:34:53 PM

I'm seriously considering this system for my 08 LMM. I know the chief runs one on his later model Duramax, anyone else have any insight? is this the best price? Set up?

My system is still working perfectly after several years

I sample the oil and it always comes back with barely any change.

Now the big caveat is that in the 9,000 or so miles between resets of the oil change indicator I have added around 3-4 quarts of oil to the system. So obviously the oil is getting renewed to some extent. Having said that I haven't seen a 10% change in anything even when I had 30K on the same oil. I ended up changing it just because I couldn't stand it anymore. But, I believe I could still be running the oil I poured in there in 2012, just top up and change filters at the 25K and 50K intervals Amsoil calls for.

Ive read that so many times, and I remember when you said you finally changed the oil on the LML... I still find it baffling that it can go that long on the "same" oil.

also how much more oil do you think it adds to the system?

I'm also running it. First round of oil I sampled a couple times and changed at about 35k. It was still good said the sample. This year, 24 months and 52k later I changed it again. Just can't fathom running it this long. Over that it used about 4 quarts. Still sounded good, my LBZ made a distinctive sound when it wanted an oil change always around the 8-9k.

I like it.

I am running a single bypass with dino oil and I change at 10k and the bypass every other time. I was running the 90 filter, now the 100.

Mine is simply a sandwich adapter between the regular filter with 1/4 lines to the bypass. I went for cost and ease of use. My oil stays very clean.

I have only added 1 qt in 125k miles besides changes.

I'd say it adds about 2 quarts.

I'd say it adds about 2 quarts.
Depending on how much line, yea, around 2- 2.5 quarts more oil

Thinking of the factory oil filter, I believe the standard filter is a bit larger, then you add a 2-quart filter to the mix and maybe 4-6 feet of line.

Mine is +4 quarts. ...it takes a couple days to get all of the air out
I'm going about every 25k because for me that's over 2 years. ...even tho the tests come back clean.
I'm not a dealer BTW.

Huh? what did I miss? nevermind, I don't want to know. I was installing a new dishwasher (no, not another wife!).

I tell the wife "they want $140 to install this thing, how hard can it be?" uggh...2 hours later...and a trip to town for parts...and a sore back.
Nothing was the same as the old one. lol

Mine adds 1 quart, uses the stock filter in the stock location.
