I think Don must be paying you way too much for working on this site. That looks great and will look even nicer when the wind and rain hit.

He recently quadrupled my salary! 4 x 0 =..... oh well i like hanging out with you guys anyway!  ;D

YES, i will be happy to get the trailer in out of the rain... and having it here, instead of my grampa's shop down south, will mean we can use it in the winter too since it'll be here.
And don't forget

You get the Administrator bonus, another $00.00!

I am seriously leaning towards just running the service, and doing 1 light and 1 gfi outlet and calling for inspection. Then get final, and then start pulling wire

I had the 3800 at my old house along with a high-lift door (8' door, 10' ceiling, door sat about 9' when open). I kick myself for not buying an el'cheapo belt/chain drive and swapping them before I moved. :(  The guy that bought the place probably doesn't even appreciate it.

Those houses popped up since you originally cleared the lot?  Is that your wall or the developers wall?

We were the first built, and yeah there's 2 below us. The last is almost done.

The wall is mine, right on the property line.

Kyle, you might want to look at a rider on the insurance to protect you from a kid jumping off that wall and hurting themselves. Or some one drives into the end of the wall, I know your property but a unmovable object placed adjacent to the driving lane with no end protection. Sounds dumb right, I used those type blocks to contain a winter sand pile, Stacked 3 high not two. Had a kid problem and risk management paid the darn claim. They told me I should have laid down some soft sand around the blocks to keep them from getting hurt.

Ditto this....I live next to a pond and have had kids pass through my yard to get to it. I added $1MM liability and it was dirt cheap....less than $50 a year or something?

A buddy of mine is a contractor....he hates inspectors....he said they will ALWAYS find "something" wrong so they feel like they did their job. He said the key is to leave something that's easy to fix for them to find....a ground wire not screwed down in an outlet or something else. Beats having them come up with something that's a total pita to fix.

Good luck it looks REALLY great!

Thanks guys. Good suggestions

There will be a fence along the property line, up to, on, and after the wall. But an insurance policy is something I'll look into

I will agree with Wilbur, for what an umbrella policy costs it is well worth it. The whole idea of getting by has changed. Find a problem, sue the heck out of the system and life is good. Is it the Lawyers after the commission, hard to say but nothing is without risks anymore. If you fell and broke an arm you went and got it set, now you call the attorney then go get it set. Maybe not only sue the person that might be liable, but the DR. that set the arm because it hurts when you raise it above a given point.

The more assets you have the more umbrella insurance you need. Used to be $1M was enough to make people go away. Nowadays you need at least 2M. Cheap as long as you don't have pit bulls or trampolines

I have no issues with my pitbull and insurance.  I was expecting them to make a big deal about it when I told them but it didn't change my rate at all.  The general stereotype about pitbulls is ridiculous though.  I have never met a more loving dog in my life than the few pits I have been around.

Those concrete blocks started life years ago as "ecology blocks". The cement concrete guys would pour the left over mix into forms and end up with a 2X2X4 or so concrete block with a picking eye in the top center. Didn't meet any building code because the things could have more than a  couple seams in them depending on how much mix returned to the plant, and didn't lock in to each other, and no way to certify strength. But instead of dumping the waste cement concrete in a hole, they started making these things and the Greenies were happy. They only cost around 17 dollars each back then and we used them in areas where wall strength was not an issue. Today they have really evolved, many different fronts on them, different locking configurations, and sizes dependent on needed use. We used them to help retain material in cut slopes or fill sections that wanted to move around, once they provided a locking system for them. They make a very nice retaining wall, just like what Kyle has done.

I worked at a trucking company about 3 decades ago. We used to get the unused cement from a local plant. We had long forms made up and just had to set the end cap depending on how much they sent. We hauled beer, they got beer, we got cement.

Yep yep. Outside is done. Inside I sheeted the stairwell, and the loft (for safety) with 1/2 cdx and put a handrail on. Structure is finaled, site is finaled. Got the rear door knocked out and installed after inspection.

Rough in electrical is done, and inspected. Trim electrical will be next Thursday. Then I will sheet the ceiling and install lights!

Out at my folks, poor cell service so I'll post some pics later.
