Almost looks like the pump is coming apart?
Came. Past tense.

Yes Ken. One of the very few things that had not already been replaced. Due to labor I’m replacing everything BUT the evap.

Also replacing the fan clutch since it was staring me in the face.  Pulled the cooling stack as well to clean.

Semi cool here today, high of 72 so I crawled up on top of office and was able to screw the roof sheeting in place. At best I have 18” up there so it’s a pretty tight fit for me but today was day to get that done with 90’s coming back later this week.

That temp with humidity is life-threatening!
I routinely saw hotter than that, for months at a time, but with almost no humidity. No humidity and your sweat evaporates rapidly and although you feel miserable, your body stays cooler. Not the case with high humidity.
I can take the heat, and the cold, but in either case, when the humidity comes up, I do not have any fun at all

Have any of you guys had issues with laundry not smelling good after a long day of sweat soaked cloths,

I wear a shirt soak it in sweat, wash it and the next time I wear it and soak it again it goes straight to stinking just as fast as I can say the ABC’s.  Iv tossed more then a few shirts because no matter how I wash them, with what ever chemical it always seems to have a funk so I toss it!

Anyone?

I don’t mind the heat these days. As long as I don’t get out of the truck lol

Maybe a presoak Dave? (you too)

I hear you Don, heat or cold its about the humidity. Cold with wind, i'm out. Age is not helping either but it has been down right nasty out here lately.

if you have an HE washer, time to sanitize. we went through this smelled like it came out of the hamper the second it warmed up. we started running Lysol sanitizing detergent in the fabric softener dispenser with every load and it's reduced the unit cleaning cycle a ton, that and air drying between loads.

i run a cup of borax and vinegar directly in the unit and then run it on a sanitizing cycle, but if you don't have that feature just the hottest setting you have. I fill the bleach dispenser to the max as well.

Pull hard at the rubber door seals and clorox wipe the insides of the grooves and you'll be scared at what you find there too.

when we first bought the units used it took me 4 of these cleaning cycles to get it to stop smelling like a moldy foot. FYI

I think it’s the bacteria are not getting cleaned out of the fabric. Check out stripping cloth diapers, you probably need to do a similar process to get your shirts completely clean.  Or like JR said, a good presoak with baking soda could help.

Or you could take a shower. :)

Bacteria...
Same reason when you shower with armpit odor and a little while later, it's back...active bacteria living in your pores get right back to work. Same-same in clothes. Time to sanitize and maybe presoak with a little bleach mixed in. Bleach kills all bacteria on contact. So does silver...FYI

The norm of washing in cold water is not the greatest either. Wife hates using hot water or separating clothes.

How long would you shower in cold water?

We put a small scoop of oxyclean in with every load, hot cold, whites colors, doesn’t matter, it all gets oxyclean.

Dave, make sure you’re leaving the washing machine door open when not in use. Mold / bacteria can grow in them.

Shoulder surgery yesterday. No damage to the rotator cuff thank goodness, they just had to remove bone spurs and bone fragments. Start PT on Thursday. No pain med yet but the nerve block should wear off tonight some time tonight so that may change.

Wife puts vinegar in the softener slot also.

I learned the hard way that the more expensive "stretchy" shirts don't like softener. It traps odor somehow and I've thrown out a few. Now only my pure cotton gets the softy stuff.

2 ounces in the drier and the rest in the compressor. Just hand turn the compressor a few times before start up and you'll be golden.

Finally got decent internet. Been waiting almost a year.
Pretty weird watching a video in 1080.

Also weird not fighting the wife over the 6mbs we occasionally had.

elon musk.  i believe phil had something to do with this?

I know about starlink, but the details of this stellar internet...that's what I was asking about
Star link uses Low Earth Orbit satellites sitting roughly 340 miles above the earth. The older generation of satellite internet providers(HughesNet) utilized Geostationary satellites sitting roughly 35000 Miles above the earth. This is where the game changing starts. I know you’ve used satellite communications in the military and would speak into the handset and wait for the other end to receive/reply. That’s because the majority of those comms are over geostationary satellites, giving anywhere between 600-1200ms delay/latency. Same thing happens with your internet service on satellite. With starlink, the LEO satellites allow you to achieve an order of magnitude improvement on your latency, most likely between 20-50ms.  Add in the fact that the older generation satellite providers only had a couple of satellites and limited ground stations to support them and you have limited bandwidth to share over all customers. Starlink uses a massive number of satellites, reducing the customer density on each one, allowing each customer to have a greater upload and download “speed”.   Older generation said up to 25( more like sub 5-10 in my research when I was looking at it) download, starlink said you will get between 50-150, with it appearing common to get better than 100mbps.
Mind you, this is based on research and reading, not firsthand, but anecdota evidence like Ken and Sam seem to support it.

Just my two cents.

Recovering from covid. Since last Thursday. Only had a fever for a day. Never lost taste or smell.  Lots of fluids and I'm doing ok. On my way to test again. Hopefully cleared up.

Sorry to hear Matt.

Don, Dave numeral dose did better at describing than me. As far as the numbers, he plans on around 6000 satellites around the world iirc. There's close to 3k now, that's why I had to wait for coverage in my area. They were targeting areas that needed it the most, like say middle of bfe Canada, first.

They just changed models of satellites to a laser coms style to make it work better. The first 2000 or so were more "basic" for lack of a better description.

All I know is that my address is a dead spot for local internet, including Verizon cell coverage.

Last night was the first time I've been able to watch a 1080 video at the same time my wife was watching a movie from Netflix. I've never been so estatic.

I just hope the dish can handle the heat. It has all the brains in it and there's been some negative comments online about them crashing during really hot days.
... But they have built in heaters for snow country.

I’m a few months in now on the starlink.
I have zero complaints other than I’m dumb enough to pay for it.

The service has been fantastic.
I’ve consistanly been 150 mbps or better since day one.
I’m not a gamer or an uploader, but it’s been a godsend.
Made work during breakup possible.
Video calls 1080 video all good.

As for up time I’d wager I’m nearly 100%.
Small little 2-8 second blips that I don’t even notice.
I’ve had two outages that I’m aware of.
One of about 20 minutes and one about 10.
I’m officially sick of the crap we have at home.
We were planning to keep it till fall, but I suspect it’s gone sooner.

Mobility is also a thing.
I’m not sure how that all works.
My one buddy says it should be a phone call to change the registered cell.
They also have a “portable” option for RV’ers. An extra 30 bones a month.
If you we’re moving might be a thing.
I just don't want to wind up missing a digit or limb.  I can sometimes get in a hurry to get results.

$50 outdoor pizza oven. Consists of two 24”x24” concrete paving stones and 50 bricks(we used pavers as they were easy to get. You might be able to pick up the supplies cheaper at a building supply store, we went to a big box store as we were nearby.  Tested it on about ten pizzas this evening and it was a resounding success. Plus it didn’t heat up the kitchen.

No crossmembers, just the bricks arranged in a U pattern. Twin on each side and three across the back on the bottom layer, then staggered up to four layers. The first paving stone site right on top of those with a one inch gap at the back. Two more layers of brick and the top paving stone to finish it off. I’ll see if I have pictures of it being built. Or I’ll draw the patterns and post it.

Recovering from covid. Since last Thursday. Only had a fever for a day. Never lost taste or smell.  Lots of fluids and I'm doing ok. On my way to test again. Hopefully cleared up.
All done with the COVID?
Not so bad the second time around. Well, bad, but nothing like the first (near death) time, that's for sure!

So out of curosity, how many of us know of someone who really died from Covid?

Sadly a new couple moved into our quaint little neighborhood. She contacted the thing in late 2020 and passed away.

During the same time, we had a twenty-year-old friend die from meningitis, along with "Normal" heart related and cancer deaths.

Only a lingering cough and tired feeling.  In January of 20 my brother passed from covid.  I also knew 2 people at church that died of it. About4 other folks died of regular stuff

Zero for me personally.  If I traverse into friends who had friends die kinda thing yes.
Closest is a friends father who I knew somewhat.  He was early early and had lots of other complications like cancer history and age 90+

Other then him I can’t think of any.

I still don’t think I ever had it.  The two times I was down and out I tested negative for Covid at home and dr office

Same hear. People get it but pass from "other complications", not covid is the norm. (that is backed in the CDC website if you dig a little)

Pretty sure I've had it 2-3 times, 1st kicked my but like the flue does,,,,,,,,,,,,

I’ve only had it once. That was enough

3 close acquaintances died from it. All with other comorbidities.

Kids today don't know how easy they have it. When I was young, I had to walk 9 feet through shag carpet to change the TV channel.

Spent all day Thursday in Omaha getting supplies for the Scout Booth. All day Friday smoking pork butts for pulled pork for the scout booth. Spent all day Saturday working the booth because there was a 4 game tournament.  Relaxed at the river yesterday.  Today I will spend all afternoon working the booth again because the town has a 4th of July celebration at the park. My special today is Philly steak sandwiches.
I bought some much needed equipment with your donations.  I have a couple more things to pick up and then I will report back. 2 weeks to go before we spend 6 days at scout camp.

Two days ago: Floated around in Duane's pool Wine coolers and fireworks all around us, just wonderful!

Yesterday: I Ate Argentian beef and barbecue cooked by a Brazilian at a Puerto-Rican family home. Man, they know how to eat!

Today: Another pool party at my daughter's house...Pulled port in the smoker/green egg since 2AM.

BTW: Yesterday took all the grandkids with me...They are so well behaved and polite...Just a pleasure to have them around

Pondered why I can travel across America with a firearm. Fly with it if I check it. Can buy a long gun in almost any state but I can’t buy a handgun unless I’m in my home state. I thought my constitutional rights were national?
