Made it to El Paso and about to head back out.

Zoom in. Mexican hell hole on the left of the river.

Interesting that our approach was over Mexican air space.

Kids today don't know how easy they have it. When I was young, I had to walk 9 feet through shag carpet to change the TV channel.

Whoo boy, next to Lacey, WA that's one of Nate's all time favorite spots! if it were terraced and jungle it would be a Brazilian favela. I can see why they want to get out; homeless here is better than having a home there!

What happened to that big wood burner unit deal you had for the house Don?  That thing heated water didn’t it?

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
It's there, but we don't fire it up until the temps fall into the low 30's high 30's. Otherwise, you'd be burning a lot of wood to heat 50 gals of water. Until then running the two heat pumps we have is pretty inexpensive and will easily handle keeping the house warm.

Just got home from trip to the city.
Was supposed to be a deer hunt till HH6 broke a foot.
So chauffeur duty not muzzle loadin.

Saw -25 or so on the way home. -31C so somewhere mid minus 20’s.
Lake was wide open water Monday.
I’ll be walking across tomorrow most likely.
Very fast freeze up this year.

Had I been on my game and mama not broken maybe wouldn’t have missed a weekend this fall.
Tomorrow will tell the tale.
We’ve been zero or colder since Monday night.
I expect nearly a foot of ice.
I just don't want to wind up missing a digit or limb.  I can sometimes get in a hurry to get results.

Whats all this with H units hurt or sick? Mine is just getting over covid, again. Been home for a week, me on-off.

On that note I just got back from a day trip to the Ridge. 11 on the way in, up to 45 afternoon. Was 19 going over Donner.

A good friend of mine had a close call today. He was following a garbage truck and a car crossed the center line and hit the garbage truck head on. Causing a chain reaction sending him down a 40 ft embankment. He was treated and released from the hospital. I have no word on the others involved.

This is a reminder that anything can happen at any time.

So not ice fit to travel yet.
The sounds it made told me one more step to wet. Lol.
About 1.5” of not the best at that spot.
Will check again this weekend.
Should be gtg now.

Started this project cause I don’t have enough to do..

Started leaking the last two weeks in the water. Something broke again. Lucky me. I get to find out how a boat is made…

Lol but not. Mine is above water so that one at least won’t be my issue.
The boat felt funny riding too the last couple trips so I know something broke.
Man I hope it’s not something stupid like the live well stuff.
Went straight to tearing in. The planning to add water…
Hope it’s not a Dho moment.

Good thing that side dump wasn’t loaded. That changes the accident real fast!!! Seat belt is usually my first guess for his safety.  Any idea if he was wearing his?  I very rarely wear one in my large truck but definitely gives me a moment to think about it

Forgive the ugly mug…
On some antibiotics now for an infection…

Started between my eyes like a zit…but I fortunately have never had that as an issue. Has now morphed into this.
I’ll be heading back to the doctor tonight if things don’t improve.
Anybody got any ideas…the ugly part we can’t fix…and no mama didn’t give me a good one…

Sam, I don't like the looks of that at all.

Thought: Don't screw around with an infection. Twice now infections nearly killed my son. My concern is that it is very close to your brain and your eyes. I'd go right now. What would be the reason you wouldn't? Hope it gets better? But if it doesn't, how much more advanced will it be in 6-8 hours. The Chief says move out troop, get seen right now!

To be fair, our hospital sucks currently.
I think you’re right though and I’ll likely go.
I say likely, as it may be 6-8 before they see me.
Now based on the change since yesterday this may be to my advantage.

Is it possible you ate something different and you are having an allergic reaction?  Did you alter your skin care routine on your face?  Just a couple thoughts I had

Ok so I omitted I take allergy pills 365 days a year.
No changes to anything really.
I’ve doubled up the allergy meds already in case but to no avail.

But thanks for the options and ideas.

I’ll be heading back shortly in hopes to see the same doc.

Did you wake up with it small originally and then it continued growing? My first thought was a spider bite while sleeping.

I’ve had bug bites that I don’t remember happening, but the marks, swelling, and long lasting red spots were very clear I got bit.

Chief, at the ER currently.

They’re running a ton of blood tests currently.
Doc called it some sort of infection that I missed the name of.

My co supervisor is terrified of spiders and that was her immediate call as well.
Currrently getting an IV push of something strong.
New meds for tomorrow and come back to see me was the docs orders.
If no improvement then off for a CT and whatever else.
So apparently the temp doctor we have in is on her game.

I’ll keep y’all posted but add me to your list.
Cheers

Given the location to the mark 1 eyeballs and what little brain I have(left) it is priority one.
Based on the docs reaction when she saw me again, yeah don’t ignore infections.

Glad you’re doing better too.

As poor as our health system is I feel I’ve been put in good hands.

The course of IV coctail I was given appears to have turned the tables for me.
I’m doing a selfie every couple hours to keep tabs.
As of now I think we’re going back the right way.

I’ll know more in the morning and after the next check in at the ER.

Thanks all for your ideas thoughts and prayers.
Keep ‘em coming as I’m not out of the word just yet.

Man, I knew something was bad and about to get really bad.
From seeing the Marsa infection spread in my son, an hour is a long time.
Had a feeling the moment I saw your pic,
But
I do think there is an improvement.
Stay on it, can come back. And take all the antibiotics they give you!

Installed a gizmo called an auto stop eliminator on the denali. Installs as a plug in to the factor harness behind the switch panel and defeats the auto stop garbage

Best $99 ever spent

Auto stop as in proximity to another vehicle? Not on my old 14. Looking at a new compass module. Its always about 90/180* even after calibration. Just need to find where it is, searches have done no good. Ken?

No the greenie feature that turns the engine off at a stop and starts it when you take your foot off the brake.

On the wife’s Odyssey you can bump the steering wheel a little and it’ll fire back up.

JR mileage is a bit worse according to the DIC than the 2018 denali 1500 with the same 6.2. But then is only has 500 miles on it so far so it’s hard to tell.  I expect about 18-20 hwy

Kids today don't know how easy they have it. When I was young, I had to walk 9 feet through shag carpet to change the TV channel.

It's a part of my new Jeep. I thought I would hate it, but if the truth be known, it isn't bothering me at all.

Here's the cool part I learned when researching the feature.

Engineers have long known that engine wear, occurs primarily at startup. Steady-state invokes zero wear except for cycling of valve springs, and wear on some seals. So, to create a scenario where the motor will be starting/stopping hundreds to thousands of more times than was normal years ago, they actually increased the durability of the motor. Chrysler is forthcoming on their engine, summarizing the redo as a "High-durability engine." So with that little feature came a redesign and rethink of the motors to still give very long service while having to absorb the effect of thousands of additional cycles. (A cycle is one start and one shutdown).

Not to be the devils advocate here but Chrysler isn’t known for reliability especially in Jeeps. As someone who’s owned his fair share it’s like a woman in your life. If the top comes off you’re willing to put up with more grief. Yeah, that was a bit crude but most can relate.

In fact if you look at parts duty cycles I think on average they’re much less than say a Ford or GM. So it’s nice they apparently increased the duty cycle, maybe it’s now where it should have been originally.  As it is that statement is vague at best. Second, it’s nice they commented on the valve train. The reality is that starter now has an increased cycle rate of what 6 or more times the prior units? I’m not impressed, it’s more going green bs at our expense. Green is expensive, pretty sure you owned the JD versions with yellow wheels and can confirm…..
Living in the remote north hoping Ken doesn’t bring H up here any time soon…..

That has to be the biggest load of horse crap I've ever read.
