Don- did you buy a shield? I have the XDS. I don't think I have ever done a write up on it. Maybe if you write up the shield, I'll pull out the XDS and re-fam with it and write it up.

Maybe start a formatted firearm write up thread?

Put 500 rds through this AM no issues. 400 nato 124 gr white box, and 100 135 gr Hornandy flex lock.

The full size sights are like eye candy and the sight radius lends it to minute of ass hole accuracy all day long.

In a smaller, weaker hand the weapon would have some muzzle keep down issues but as long as you aren't transitioning to "Caitlyn" you should be just fine- however a lighter duty household six might want to run some lighter loads.

This being said- for 100 rds of the 400 I attempted to manufacture failures. Even single handed limp wristing it the 124 nato hb's cycled through without hiccup. The slide lock is low profile enough even with my bear hands smothering it, I couldn't induce an unintended lock back.

Two notes-
While the trigger claims to be a standard 5.5, breaking through it would take some getting used to. I think a little polish job would lend it to be on par with all other standard Glock triggers. I can best describe it as a spring loaded glass punch. Press press press crack! Reset is much the same.

On inserting mags- driving mags home, one must make sure they positively push to the click. There is a little bit of drag along the magazine presented by the slim profile and the magazine catch. Due to this the individual who pressed the mag release and immediately lets off, won't be able to clear a mag without a sweep. A full depression of the mag release all the way through the mag drop is required...

The statement, "it runs like every other Glock" is false. However, it does run and runs good!

Ergonomically- the weapon stands out ahead of the other marketed pocket pistols. I like the Glock cant which this retains. Finger falls naturally on to the trigger. Need to stipple an index point however.

For me, NOT an EDC. Capacity is too low, and the G19 ain't broke... This weapon lends itself a handy backup and replacement for my LCP!

It's a little glocky if you get my drift but we will fix that... Yes on the aftermarket triggers...

I handled three different ones today... The mags have a lot of drag to them on insertion. But being that my primary purpose is for backup, not primary carry, it'll be alright

The green is the zip plank. It is OSB with a heavy sealant on it. It tongue and grooves together as opposed to butting up flush. Even though it's tongue and groove the seams are still taped. The wrap will go on after.

Getting a little further along. My concrete sub, Sergio, electrocuted himself and may lose an arm (quick prayer for him) so some of the concrete work is currently on the back burner. Pretty much all framed up. Roof kit is enrt and we are ahead of schedule.

Take a look here and you will get an idea of our color scheme-

Liking the shades of brown, stained doors and plank shutters. So far on budget... Excavation and backfill has broken over center but we knew that would happen the first day we broke ground! This house is built on solid rock just shy of needing explosives.

Well it is now that we decided on windows and doors... Not looking forward to the next big joint decision! I'm probably the least picky person in the world, so I'm pretty go with the flow... But I have to be the voice of reason occasionally to keep us on budget... I get the, "this is my dream house. I want what I want" ALOT.... I have to say, "your dream dear, costs 20,000 dollars more than we have afforded this line item"

I may need to tell the framers to raise the roof on the garage for my apartment before its all said and done! LOL

Agreed on the Curry... When I was at KKMC in Saudi they always made these lavish meals for us. (You know how Saudis like to prove how rich they are) One common theme in every dish was guts and curry.... I just couldn't stomach it... I lived that whole summer on combos, nature valley granola bars and Rip it energy drinks... Occasionally I ate the rice... I always felt like our Saudi comrades were over in their chow hall eating the good parts of the goat and laughing at us.

Pork Chop Parmigiana

Favorite cut pork steak (ribeye chop for me)
I've done with venison loin also! Fantastico!

Equal parts bread crumbs and Parmesan cheese on a plate for breading salt and pepper to taste

Olive oil in a bowl

Lightly coat chop in oil then toss in breading

Place in a glass dish in the oven 350 for 30 mins

Pull out, pour on your fav Italian red sauce (homemade or store bought) sprinkle mozzarella cheese on top and lightly dust with parsley flakes.

Back in the oven for 10-15 then voila

This guy-- I'm this guy!

Just to keep it off topic-

It's like when you walk out of the shower trailer and the wood pecker starts doing its thing and next thing you know you're rockin a 240 position in your PT shorts and your buddies kit and someone's Kevlar that kinda fits. Kicking brass out of your shower shoes... And people start yelling "GET SOME MF'er" then the XO comes up to yell at you bc you don't have your PT belt on, then your crusty PSG tells said XO to get his dumb arse back to the coc. Then he relieves you so you can go get your appropriate war fighter gear on... (Or was that just how it seemed to go down for me??)

So funny Segway here. Last night I was at a buddies house for a resident (medical type) graduation party. He has a nice salt water pool.... Long story short, in the finest higher caliber fashion, I introduced some clothed female individuals to the pool after they found it applicable to ambush me with super soakers. Well, I then ended up jumping in the pool right behind them. (No place to secure my weapon, G19 duh, so I kept it on) My buddy Dane says, let's go see if it fires! So we walked down to his fresh pushed range, I drew and put sixteen rounds, rapid fire in to what was left of our smoked hog carcass without hiccup...

Of course I was shooting quality SD ammo and not rough cased surplus.

I've always been a "back to the wall, facing the door" person........what are we all gonna do if we all meet up sometime?!?  :D

The best gunner gets to face the danger area! LOL! We go through this all the time when my buddies and I go somewhere. Someone always has to be the designated cover and the designated gunner!

Truth is, part of being brothers is *knowing* each other will have your back at all costs. Not having to worry if the number two man is right on your ass as you break cover. He will just be there. just like you would be there for him when the stack falls awry. A band of brothers is fluid. Everyone teaches their job to everyone else. No secret tricks under your hat. You see something new, you pass it down the line, you talk it over and you own it or discard it... watch one, do one, teach one

And now, a PSA from your friendly neighborhood Policeman-

It is warming up outside and the calls on your friendly neighborhood Policeman’s beats are becoming more frequent. Now is a good time to re-fresh on a couple of key facets of defending yourself from tweakers, sexual predators, and ISIS, or all inclusively, “degenerate mopes.”

So much of self-defense is simply not putting yourself into a position where you will have to be defensive. Taking pro-active measures to insure you remain in a safe environment is paramount to the tools you use to defend yourself. Simply making sure you have enough gas in the tank to fill up at a venue of your discretion beats being forced to fuel up at that place that was on the news last week or worse, running out on the highway in front of the friendliest of trailer parks. Degenerate mopes, know no boundaries, however spending time in an area with a higher concentration of criminal activity apparently lends to the increased risk of falling victim to crime.

Just like degenerate mopes know no bounds, they are not solely nocturnal creatures. That being said, the concealment night time offers tends to increase their activity. When you go shopping do you take the time to forecast how lit your parking area will be if the sun goes down before your credit card is declined? Or, are you the jerk in the Kia that cuts me off and steals mine? Try to plan your activities where you are afforded the most availability of light. Safety is not always convenient but it increases life expectancy ten-fold. If you must venture to Wal-Mart at 0300, park in the lighted areas and away from white carpenter vans.

Degenerate mopes seek easy prey. The stoner wearing overpriced head phones and playing angry birds on the bench at the bus stop is more likely to get a good city mugging than the guy standing with his back to the wall people watching. The gal, talking on her cell phone to her “bff”, oblivious to everything not pertaining to the latest gossip, is more likely to find herself rolled up in a tarp in the back of the aforementioned, “white carpenter van.” It is sad, but I often see people walking across dimly lit parking lots with their faces in their cell phones tripping over parking curbs. Chances are they are most likely texting their significant others about how creepy the parking lot is. Being conscious of your surroundings at all times is not paranoia, it is preventative of being the plot of a Lifetime movie. It’s never good to wake up in a hole with duct tape ligature marks being encouraged to lotion up by a degenerate mope.

There is a push back to being defensive of yourself via your attire, which is metabolizing in our PC culture. It has become a narrative that people shouldn’t have to dress any certain way to avoid attack and that the attackers… “Just shouldn’t”. The problem with this ideology is pretty simple, the attackers, “just do”, and no amount of harshly worded rhetoric from Diane Sawyer is going to stop that. This doesn’t just go for the girls in the mini-skirts and tube tops utilizing the alley behind bar row as a place to relieve themselves. It also goes for the guys with the NRA shirts that scream, “I’m packing”, or the cool morale tees that say, “Hey, I’m an Obama supporter.” Don’t get me wrong, I have a cool t-shirt or two, and you can dress however you want. Just realize, if you look like food, there is a higher probability of you being eaten.

So let’s break this down, Sesame Street style-

A- Always control your environment to the best of your ability.

B- Be conscious of the availability of light and the impact it has
on your safety.

C- Careful, not carefree! Be situationally aware!

D- Dress in a manner that says “Hey don’t $%#^ with me”

In conclusion, let’s all have a great summer! Oh, and to the guy in the Kia, “It rubs the lotion on its skin or else it gets the hose again!

So the door going in to the safe room is just a heavy tri-hinged/tri bolted fire/security door. When I refer to the "armory" portion, I would be more correct to call it a magazine or a cache of sorts. This will be where all of the bulk stuff is held. I like the idea of making the entry into that section similar to a vault cage. Like where you would draw your weapon. Simply functionable, but mostly nostalgic. As far as where immediate use weapons and turn out gear go. They are stored in another section of the house. Hidden but more quickly accessible. You will have to stop by and I will show you. This room I'm showing is mostly for bulk catastrophe/fire safe storage and weather emergencies, we are all too familiar with in my area. As far as being hidden, this room particular room is in an unfinished portion adjacent to my dungeon where I plan to pick things up and put them down... I will prolly cover the door with something nonetheless.
