In the middle between Shawn & Charles, we are WAY too dependent upon technology.  I've been reminded of it just yesterday when a keynote speaker came in and made a point to show a phone app then made the statement "why teach math when our phones can do Calculus?"  Sure, education and how kids learn is changing and more dynamic than ever, but much of the "foundation" material is being forgotten and glossed over.  Counterpoint illustration I gave was that even though we have microwaves and toaster ovens, we're still cooking on open flame as from the beginning!

When technology fails, what are they going to remember when they can no longer Google or YouTube it?
