Now let me say something that is hard to hear: The rusky 5.45 is better. Nasty oglive core or some 3.5mm me thinks which does not stay straight, but rather goes all manner of sideways when it hits. That's why an oglive in lieu of a point...balance/unbalance...
Now the 70 something bullet is flat lethal
So, Bobby...being the calculating trained warrior NCO that you are. Take the appropriate action, Execute!
your standard grunt level CQB is just putting rounds and rounds on scary stuff till it stops scaring you!

That's why an oglive in lieu of a point...balance/unbalance...The 5.45 works by moving the center of gravity to the rear of the bullet. This makes the bullet more stable in flight, and therefore more accurate. However, once the bullet hits, it destabilizes very quickly and tumbles sooner and faster than the 7.62x39.The 7.62x39 starts to tumble after penetrating about 7 3/4" and usually tumbles once. The 5.45 starts to tumble in 2 1/2" and tumbles at least twice.Tumbling is caused by:copper plated mild steel outer jacket, the blunt mild steel inner core, the lead "cap" on top of the core and surrounding it between the core and outer jacket, and the hollow air cavity in the noseI googled the above info so I wouldn't give bad info.Quote from: Flyin6 on September 26, 2014, 12:12:11 PMNow the 70 something bullet is flat lethalYou thinking about the 77gr?
I think we just said the same thing, but you said it better!Good job
Quote from: Flyin6 on October 09, 2014, 02:33:46 AMI think we just said the same thing, but you said it better!Good jobThe 5.45 also has less recoil and -depending on who you ask, what you read, you're personal experience- it's supposed to be more accurate than the 7.62. However, I've not had the opportunity to try one out and see for myself.
Me either...The Romanians who I sort of worked with in RC-South had themThey liked themWhat got me inquisitive was when I saw surplus 5.45 ammo, $139.95 for 1080 rusky sealed spam cans!!!!!!!!Then the guns were like $500 ishSo for a grand you get the gun + 4000 rounds and money left over for a foot long philly cheese steak! No brainerBut I pausedGuess I'm a no brainer...
