More from the Harley that is now in my garage

Some side by side of the saddle bags

The grey tint is pulling color off my ceilings reflection.
I can’t get the black to be just black with the led lights.

But you get the point

Got some more done tonight, applied a ceramic sealant from Mcguires, I haven’t used this product before but the reviews are good and the customer seemed open to trying it.

All previous paint correction steps followed and then used their surface prep product and then applied as directed
Covered the bike up for the night and will get on it again tomorrow

I sure try,  this Harley clear is the worst. A brand new microfiber will leave marks on this stuff. It’s so soft

Keep trying to make progress on this bike to get it out of my garage!!

But the garage vacuum needed new bag and belt,
The enclosed needed moved to load the daughters stuff into as she moves out Saturday into her own place
Then on to the Harley.
Front faring done
Gas tank and cover polished and done

There is one scratch that keeps catching my eye I can’t remove. Tried but afraid to cut any further into the paint. So it stays

Front fender is all that left and I’m going to call it good

It’s now snowing here so it’s not going home anytime soon

Yeah!  That color was beautiful and they definitely don’t paint them that way anymore.

He has plans to put a hot rod motor in it and do the whole street stunt thing with it.
Wants me to polish the paint and some basic chrome resto. We will see how it all turns out

I see it on the headlight.
100,000% more clear than the first picture we saw of it.
I just don't want to wind up missing a digit or limb.  I can sometimes get in a hurry to get results.

Here you can see the lens cover thingamabob.   No idea it’s purpose but I’ll tell ya cleaning bugs out from around the headlight housing sucks so I’ll take a goofy lens.

Guy picked her up tonight and I can say my give a Pooh had broke. I told him $100 and get it out.  I just don’t want to detail Harley’s.   Not sure how to fix it lol

This weeks correction was a Maserati of some type.
It had some really rough paint beyond what I have seen in a long time plus some major iron deposits (common term rail dust) and in general scratches and swirls from auto washes.

Simple Meguires iron remover
To remove the iron

Simply wet vehicle and spray on, watch it work it’s magic. I usually use a wash mit to apply some agitation. Then when it’s working the product turns purple!

Then the standard adams single step as the customer isn’t going to stop running it through auto washes and it’s not worth doin inch beyond that. He will be extra pleased with it.   Iv learned to judge your client. If they are as picky as me then detail accordingly, if they just want a basic detail with some class added then do so.   Many folks will pay for more and many will never recognize what you put into it and won’t pay for it.  KNOW YOUR CUSTOMERS!!

So after that I rewashed and hand dried all the nooks and crannies, fixed a loose license plate and called it china!

Maserati quattroporte

Interesting they have a v6 now. When they first came out they only had the Ferrari V8 and they sounded amazing

Not sure what color interior that one has but in about 2013 when I looked they had a rich coffee colored leather that was amazing looking.

Kids today don't know how easy they have it. When I was young, I had to walk 9 feet through shag carpet to change the TV channel.

Dave,
Happy that you are sharing your process.
So the rail dust/iron remover is key then before starting?
What would be the (Negative?) effect of just buffing a car which had not been pretreated to the iron remover

I ask because the guy who detailed my Suburban said it was really loaded up with iron.

What color was the wife’s new suv?

If you look close at a light color car you will almost certainly find a portion of speckles that look like red dust/rust spots. Think glitter size.
It’s not a requirement and Iv never used the product in any car I own. Bet this car was in really rough shape

I’ll send you a video tomorrow. Via text
