I didn't say, "A better mousetrap, just a different one
Starts with two standard 5 gal buckets
-
And a piece of 1/4" steel to act as an axle
-
I drilled holes just above the handle holes
-
Then cut two sections of conduit PVC tubing that spanned the space minus about 1/4" and drilled a hole in the center of that
-
Then comes two more holes about 1/2"-3/4" outboard from the center hole.
Through those holes, I placed two 5/16" bolts capped with nyloc nuts and adjusted same until I was left with something that would return to "about-level" when disturbed.
-
And mounted all of that together along with some washers and standard nuts onto the axle shaft
-
Then I just added a few spot welds to the steel axle and the plain nuts to hold everything in place.
-
Now the plan is to place some peanut butter on top of the tube in the center.
Then fill the bottom of the bucket with about 6"-8" of water, then pour out oiled sunflower seed on top of the water.
Finish bu placing a ramp up and onto the bucket rim to invite the critters to take that first perilous step...then: Bon voyage! See ya in mouse heaven!
-
The suspended and free floating bolts keep things oriented in the right position to continue spreading murderous temptation to as many offenders who feel it is OK to invade my space!
-
I'm likin' this!
-
I would venture to say that there are too many parts for mice to grab onto let alone sink their claws into the pvc.....?
I recommend this...... https://www.automatictrap.com/shop/a24/

Freakin amazing!
Nate, you haven't even seen if my trap, which costs about $4 even works yet, and you are already recommending some gas powered thing that costs $189 each!
Are you smokin something??? :knucklehead: :knucklehead:
Here's another approach...Lets put the thing down in the camper and give it a chance.
How's about that? :likebutton:
NCO's...
-
You know darn well without senior NCO's you guys would have lost your minds....lol
-
Did you really break out the thick welding gloves to tac those two spot welds?
-
You know you’re going to order one Don.....
-
You know, that’s definitely more up Dons alley than a couple hd buckets. I mean this thing is a supercharged mouse killer!!
-
Now we need a video of this. Get out the game camera so we can see this work

Any takers willing to wager the mouse gets the better of ol Don?

I'll wager that the mouse is capable of walking out on those ridgid rods. :)

Fill a 5 gallon bucket or similar half full of water. push a stick or rod through an empty soda can. Put a couple strips of peanut butter down the can. Place the can over the bucket so that the can is in the middle of the bucket. The idea is that the mouse will crawl out to the can on the rod. When it crawls up on the can to get the bait, the can rotates and the mouse drops into the bucket and drowns in the water. The can should still have bait on it and continue to work. Depending on where you place the bucket you may need to build a ramp up to the bucket.[/size]

Mouse chews through said plastic bucket

Has never happened yet, use one while hunting just to keep the little critters in check. Don put way too much thought into the ones he built. He even commented when this was brought up before.

I think that is possible as well.
But I think it is also likely that Don sprayed those steel rods and the PVC with dry film lubricant...He-He-he.
I also thing while the retched beast is chowin on the peanut butter he just may have a misstep...
Can anyone here Ker-plunk!

5 points given for dry lube!

Any victims with all the trip to the farm?
Yep, two more this trip. It catches the little critters almost every trip down there
