Don't tell Tex, but the wife and I are in San Antonio today for a stop on my daughter's nationwide tour ... Hopefully checking out the Alamo sometime today before heading back home.

Close but still 3 hours away. Hope you had a good time. People there can't drive.  Lived there 1998-2000.

If you ever make it to Houston I'll be offended if you don't call. :-)

Well, can't believe I found some place warmer than home. It was 60 and storming in AZ, and 80+ and humid in San Antone! Also didn't realize how many people visit the Alamo..... Kinda took the fun out of it... but just had a great steak with some Jack and Coke with a good view .

When to this, lots of fun.  Airplanes, paraglide, ultralights, cannons, shooting range, bon fire, very good food.  It's was fun playing bingo with a bowling ball shot out of a cannon.  I got to fly for over three hours over some beautiful land scape

Got a racoon problem here. Going to have to use the new 22 nitro pellet gun on it. Need to sight in first but 900fps should do the trick.

Found a leak, now to fix.  It was the oil pressure sensor, was just flowing right on through it.

I bought a house. Spent all weekend from Friday through Sunday packing, cleaning, painting, unpacking, pretending to sleep, eating bad takeout, wearing out my back and patience, downsized from 2100sq/ft and 1.2 acres to 930sq/ft and .25 acres, but I think my back yard makes up for it a bit.

More pics to come as we get settled in and do a little remodeling.

You can kind of see the inside of this connections is wet from oil. The sensor was damaged internally and was allowing oil to flow through the entire sensor and out the connection.  Had the wife start the Ramcharger while I watched it, and it filled right up. Replaced it, and she's back on the road!

since saturday.. all the horizontal retaining wall and posts have been set. as well as tamping it all in with a jumping jack. been a long weekend.. but it was a much needed win for our corner (dad, brother and myself) since the tunnel has new kicking our butt since day one. hahah

the depressed/half octagon shape is for a burn/'s'mores' pitt that my mom is kinda putting on for our wedding. not only that, but it'll be a cool place to go hang out and burn stuff well after the wedding has come and gone. just kind of a neat little add-on..

those tall posts will be cut off at ground level as well..

Like the back 'yard'!

Went shooting the 19 and 21 today. Couple hundred through each.
Now in a hotel room 200 miles from home.
My poor brown dog may have blown out her other knee.

Since Thursday night we've had half an inch of rain in conjunction with about six inches of snow.
Needless to say it was an entertaining drive.

Put the Bubba rope to use again pulling a half ton out of he ditch.
He was setting on/in three feet of snow.
Another fella had tried with another half ton and couldn't do anything more than spin.
Did I mention the freezing rain, could hardly stand on the road.
Two good tugs and he was on his way.

But found out in my goodies I need a 20 k strap a few feet long.
I'm not a fan of shocking chain that hard.
My 1" shackle doesn't work in the new Chevy tow hooks. And they are a loop now not a hook!
I just don't want to wind up missing a digit or limb.  I can sometimes get in a hurry to get results.

How do you like the Bubba rope? Had my eye on it for some time now. Straps I have, never enough.

Only stopped raining for a day about a week ago. Supposed to be clear Wend. so we can go see the glory hole and I have a plugged gutter.

I absolutely love it.
Only used it a few times but it is a great upgrade from my old rope.
First time buddy in half ton, trailer with two sleds.
Ran out of talent, ended up in a couple feet of snow on a curve.
He was starting to shovel and I told him no need. The bubba stretches a lot and one hard shot he was out.
Second time was an 18 wheeler with a low boy empty. He sunk into my lovely road.
I told him I'd give it a shot, but he didn't have the hook for his front end of the tractor. I think I would have been able to twist him sideways and out had he had it.
He had spun his drivers down to sitting on he pumpkins and from the back of the trailer I couldn't do enough. He said I was moving him but he had dug in too deep.
Third time was today. Took two shots as I didn't want to end up in he other ditch. Lol.
Buddy was shoveling, I told him to stop, "really?...yup" so he did.
The stretch and the weight of the diesel just pull stuff like you wouldn't believe.

Bought mine from Willie when he first stated carrying them.

I got some baby chicks from a gal off Facebook. She's been hatching some out every month all winter. Must be decent if she goes through so many. We will see. 10 French copper marans. I figure if I get a few of a differant breed every year then I know which ones to get rid of every year. After 2 years they slack off on laying.

You need one of these guys: https://www.ringpinion.com/b2c/ProductDetails.aspx?ProdID=13994

The kinetic recovery rope is made in tey-has, as in USA. 28,300lb capacity. I've got good guy pricing for everyone here and your exchange rate isn't AS terrible as it's been lately

Buddy lives about 5 miles out has a 2500 sq/ft shop that he's letting me reside in. current garage on the property is a large, two car pull through w/ boat launch, but we're converting that to two bedrooms and an office space. Pics and updates in a new thread in construction to come.

North south and east of me are all snowbird homes. very quiet right now and very active during the summer months. This house will stay in our family for as long as I foresee, but you are right, probably not full time living forever. Neighbors are very tight nit, conservatives though, which is nice. had two of the full timers stop by and introduce themselves and even bring baked goods to welcome us to the neighborhood. Plans are to build equity towards other propertie(s) and keep this as vacation/rental income etc down the road. We stole this place and appraised value came in WELL above final purchase price.

Tate, that is a really big Lake you are on. Can you watch the shipping lanes from the house?

That's the east side of Oak Harbor directly across the bay. We're on Utsalady bay, north end of Camano island. to the northwest we can see the San Juan islands, but not to Saratoga passage and the shipping lanes due to Whidbey island blocking that line of sight. We do have a deep water buoy and plans to sell the trailer and replace it with a boat of some sort in the near future.

looks great tate....echoing Don's comment- as long as ya get along with the neighbors! But sounds like a good spot for sure. Nice seeing water like that.

Love to see what you negotiate for a px on the rope. I have a few snatch straps but some of them (true "snatch straps" not tow straps which don't stretch) don't really stretch if what your pulling out is really light. Maybe the kinetic rope works the same way I don't know?

Just for you to negotiate off of....

swb that will be nice when its done. Have to have a campfire place.

Now, that soft shacke is interesting however.

Yeah, sold the house and the condo we'd been stuck with for years. we'd bought a condo in a nicer neighborhood in Mukilteo, (read snooty Microsoft people) when they were still in construction phase put a ton of money down and were upside down within the year after the market took a dump, then we bought the house out in the country in Stanwood and have been there for 10 years. Market finally comes back around and my rental property that I couldn't give away sold in 24hrs of listing it, and we got our money back. the house took 45 days but we closed on the new place and the sale of the old one the same night.

Sweat deal Tate. Wish I had a little more land even though I am in Kali.

Took the kids up to see the Glory Hole. Water is 3.5ft over the edge and it makes almost no noise.

Putah Creek is normally 10-15 wide below it, now is 50-100 wide is many places.

Nice looking place, I can think of worse ways to have the back yard set up.

Drove up to Grand Rapids MI today for a couple of days of work meetings. Had a nice dinner and laughing at the locals singing karaoke at the hotel.

Tate, if you don't mind I would like to know the pricing of those as well. I frayed my rope last summer pull starting an old tractor for my father in law. Dad gave me that rope for my 16th birthday and it's ridden in every vehicle I've had since then. I've lost count of how many times I've used that thing.

I finally got a weeping water line under the house fixed yesterday. It was suffering the effects of my poor plumbing skills.
Also, I discovered why I should always check just one last time before buying Polaris Ranger injectors. I had never seen a prong pull out of that type of connector until last night, after the new injectors were installed or course. That was an expensive lesson.

So I made it home uneventfully last night.
Not to say it wasn't an adventure. I found 2-3 psi boost to be generally safe.
Somewhere between 4-5 psi the back would try to pass the front.

Pure glare ice all the way home, 200 miles, adventure yes.
But the eggshells on accelerator netted this.

Yes it's jet off the DIC, but in the history of this truck since tuned, has been +/- .1 or so.
In any case I'll take that on winter fuel.

And the poor pup having a snooze, found it funny how she burrowed in behind my stuff.

This applies to everyone here, but might need to be moved to classifieds, (Nate?).

the 7/8" rope is $119 on its own, and $199 as a kit with the bag, gloves, d rings and soft shackle. that soft shackle is available on it's own for $39.00 too, and is rated at 35,000lbs.

I used one of those soft shackles snow wheeling a month ago. It worked really well on a truck with no recovery points just tube bumper. I will say it took a little finess in the cold to get it on & off but worked suprisingly well.

If that isn't large enough, just what are you using to pull "it" out?
