Guy in half ton Silverado races tri-axle dump truck loaded with sand through an intersection and loses the race. Occupying the same space at the same time is a problem so dump truck folds Silverado in half around a steel pole, turns onto its side and slides both into and in to a shuttle bus. It happened less than a mile from the station so luckily we could get there quick. Seven patients total, once critical, one entrapped plus 5 hours of hazmat work to keep the various fluids out of the storm drains. Quite a mess.     The critical patient was sitting in one of the chairs that is folded up under the bumper of the dump truck and is lucky to be alive. The seats face inward so he may have never seen the truck coming. On a positive note, there were a bunch of bystanders already holding pressure on wounds and treating people as best as they could when we arrived. One thing that sticks out in my mind was the diversity of the people rendering aid to the injured. Men and women, black, white, and a few shades in between were all doing their level best for total strangers without regard to race, gender, politics or any of that non essential crap the news wants us to believe everyone cares about these days. Tonight I made my neighbor extra happy. when the developer put in the subdivision he gifted 6 ft of property to all the farmers who had already built up existing barriers and fences, gave them more land. The farmer next to me had olive trees that lined what used to be his land. The developer pushed truck loads of dirt onto his new land with no way for him to move it really, no good way to maintain the land. Most people put up fences like mine. He has been trying a little at a time to use his small case tractor with a bucket good for lifting about hay and grass clippings, it’s going slow.
Tonight I had access to our Deere 333c and figured I would finish off the job for the guy. Took me an hour to clear the areas level and remove the dirt them pushed to far into the lot.
Learned that my kids are terrible st listening to mom when dad is in equipment, my truck is terrible for towing such things at that weight!
I like driving equipment but no one wants to let me leave my current position to be a “ dumb equipment driver”
Loaded into our dump trailer. Yes way over the limit of 8k, way out of balance but. Like the UPS. If it fit it ships
Had to play the front and back game to get the rear Jack’s off the ground than back up the skid to lift my truck off of the bump stops. Yes I need air bags!!! Yes I need to buy a 3500 or a F-350

Now the trailer is rated at 16K, so that's good, but when I last pulled a load of gravel, my truck was actually spinning when taking off from a stop light on an uphill grade. I thought the truck was close to being maxed out.
I too felt like I needed to score a used 1 ton dually or even a 4500-5500 series truck to carry that much weight. So I'm with ya
I will recommend you install those torque lift devices to get more spring earlier. Using them and the bags with 90 psi in them easily supports the tongue weight and prevents the pitching when you hit bumps going down the highway.
Chief, any chance a lack of tongue weight is what caused the tires to spin? I’ve repositioned more than one piece of equipment due to that very thing. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

This forum has so many up sides. Fairly slow day at work here except for a 2 hour span where we had a “cutting” and an unresponsive diabetic with a blood sugar of 28. Some guy decided it was a good idea to hit his girl in the head with what we assume was a glass bottle. Jagged 4” laceration to the head and she had pieces of glass on her. Police officers were doing their best to control the bleeding with pressure until we got there. When they found out the suspect was still in the area they took off after him but left someone with us to watch our 6 so we could treat the patient. We give them a fair amount of grief at every opportunity but its nice to work with such good officers. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Fass 150 on my LBZ started growling at me today. I didn't register it. Didn't know I had to so no warranty. New pump is right at $300. My question is will my truck still run if the pump goes out all together?

That’s part of the reason I don’t have one yet. I can’t make a decision on which bag I should buy. I get analysis paralysis on the regular. 
Would be cool if I could attach that pack to the front of my pack. It has molle webbing on the straps.
Otherwise I’ll probably go cross draw at the waist or owb strong side.

I haven’t spent much time in a drop leg but for me, I don’t think it’d be comfortable on a recreational hike. I’ve been thinking of getting one of the Hill People chest rigs for a while but keep putting it off. We haven’t done much hiking since the little one was born.

That’s a pretty nasty burn. Gonna be a rough couple days.
Anyone here have any experience with the GM 8.1L? Found a 2003 3/4 suburban at a small local lot I’d like to bring home. It’s a dark green, 1 owner, 103k miles, 8.1L, 4x4, cloth interior with bose radio. Biggest problem is I already have too many vehicles in the driveway but that could change easy enough.

Avg. kitchen temp is around 104 on a normal day, probably wouldn't bother me too much. The only thing I don't envy you for is all the naked dudes you guys have to deal with. Just imagine if you were in Florida... (shudder)
I’m convinced that our dispatchers are instructing people to get naked as soon as they turn our trucks out. There’s no way there’s that many people that just stay naked all the time. Serious question Chief. If you’re gonna have a built transmission (which we all assume will happen) wouldn’t it just make the most sense to build one suited to the year model of the engine and the rest of the vehicle? The newer ones are stronger in stock form but this one won’t be factory. There are thousands of built 5 speeds holding way more power than your stated desires, all with none of the fuss and headache of “making it work”. If the 6th gear is a deal breaker, there’s an option for that also. I’d be willing to bet that the additional purchase cost, wiring, tuning, and figuring out of the 11+ model would pay for the 6 speed conversion. That being said, if the process of mating the old and the new is a challenge you’d enjoy, then by all means, throw this comment right out the window. It’s your money and your vehicle. This is just $.02 from a guy enjoying this awesomeness unfold from the cheap seats.

Can you run the 06+ six speed or are you talking about a 6 speed conversion? A buddy of mine has been exchanging emails with duramaxtuner.com about their 6 speed conversion. If I remember correctly he said the cost after returning his core will be right around $1,300. Considerably cheaper than the suncoast kit.

You need to graph the tps, preferably at the ecm to eliminate wiring issues. See if there's any dropouts or spikes as you open the throttle, engine off first, then running. .660 seems high, but mine is newer (2012=.54).
I forgot about that but remember now that you mentioned it. Took a long time to get both idle and partial throttle voltage to fall within spec. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Another sensor that commonly goes bad on those is the TBAP sensor. It’s located under the crossbar, that the rear of the seat mounts to. OTB Powersports makes a bunch of replacement harnesses of better quality than the factory junk.

All of the problems with my 700 were related to fuel pressure but 39psi is within spec if I remember correctly. To test for intake leave spray some starting fluid around the intake while it’s running and listen for rpm change. Sometimes the cracks are too small to see. Did you test the throttle position sensor? Those 700’s are extremely sensitive to the TPS voltage and cracks in the line usually happen right at or inside the plug. I have the in line harness used to test and set the voltage. If you want to pm me your address I can send it to you.

Reposting this since it got deleted a while back. A buddy and co-worker of mine got his jeep stuck in a drainage ditch a while back. While trying to winch himself out he got his controller tangled up in the fairlead and cut it in half. After splicing it back together it still wouldn't work. Found out later that he blew a 2 amp fuse when he cut the controller. He was in a spot where we couldn't get another truck to him so the Kawasaki was the only option we had. We tied it off to a tree via the receiver hitch and ran my winch line through a pully on his front bumper and anchored it to another tree. The 4,500lb winch wouldn't have enough oomph without the 2:1. It took a while with such a small winch but we finally got him out. That was the first and only time I've used the little Warn but I was impressed.

It all depends on what you want to do with one. They’re cool but around here, where you can’t drive them on public roads, I don’t see the advantage over a more traditional style side by side. For work, the dump bed on a Polaris Ranger, Can-Am defender, or Kawasaki Mule are a lot more useful. For a machine to rip around in off-road they’re nowhere close to a Polaris RZR, Can-Am Commander, or Kawasaki Teryx. If you’re searching for diesel options, it’s probably the best thing around. Top speed of the Ranger, Mule, and Mahindra side by sides are around 35mph and it takes a long time to get there. There’s already companies doing tuning for the Roxor and I hear it really wakes them up. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Am strongly considering it JR. But first let me put some miles on it. I'm thinking I could get a good price on my super clean and lower mileage 6.0 and 4L80E... And I stumbled across a rebuildable LB7 for $700 not too far away.

I thought I read somewhere that the SACS style injectors was the fix for the older trucks. If so, the $700 LB7 starts to look like a pretty good place to start if a guy wants a diesel powered 2002 burb. If you’re not happy with the 4 speed and staying with gasoline power, what about a swap to 6 speed? Cheaper than building a Duramax even if you did start with a $700 block. Here is the final result of the rattlesnake. I’ll fully admit I had reservations about eating it. When I cut its head off it was still moving around some so my machete landed closer to its head than I intended, pretty close to where the venom glands are. I was afraid that the meat may be contaminated with the venom and didn’t want to risk making anybody sick. After talking to some regular snake eaters I moved back an additional three inches, cut again, rinsed it really well and pressed on. My wife wanted no part of it and I didn’t offer any to the little one just to be safe. The guys at the station however make the perfect guinea pigs. We’re roughly 30 minutes post ingestion and as far as I know we’re all fine. It’s not bad at all, especially dipped in a little yum yum sauce. It’s a lot of work and I’m not sure how many more I’ll cook but, should I need a meal in a place where options are limited I’d cook another one in a heartbeat.    Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
