My SIL came home from Idaho because of all the smoke up there. Shows up on my camera some days.
What she failed to mention is that the smoke isn't from Washington, it's from a 6500 acre fire about 5 miles from our place. 40% contained

Not worried, but thought it was "funny" she left that info out of the conversation.

We are officially out of the wagyu business. Client outgrew our current facility and the cost to expand and upgrade is too much. EPA and DEQ (Department of environmental quality) regulations are tight. We would have to build a lagoon and sediment basin for manure. We dont own the land down hill from the facility so that means pumping all that up hill. The pump alone is $100,000. The area where all this wold be located has a spring so that complicates things. Have to seal that off then build the lagoon on top of it. So tons and tons of dirt work. Best guess is half a million dollar expansion. That is a big gamble on someones else's business. If the nephew was a little more motivated then maybe but he dont even show up on time.

Any updates Ken?  Don’t see the electric fencing around the RV in that photo?  Hope they get it under control.

Looks like they have the southern edge contained, but my place is more easterly, and south. Should be ok. If not, I won't have to work as hard on clearing trees. :Rollseyeswhilecrying

Here's a more clear pic of the rv. ...shows the electric fence better.

Went up to visit my brothers grave in Santa Rosa friday. Haven't been in to many years. He is in the VETs area, since he put a few years in before he was killed (89 Loma Prieda, 880 collapse) He was 3 years younger than I.

Headstone was in fair condition and it was easy to find. The VET area was nice with a staging area and scattered tributes.

Another reason for going was to leave my mothers ashes on his site, my father is there too, placed by my mother. Now all are together as was the plan.

Ran over the old cat. He was 15. Worst was didn't kill him. I had to put him down. Bad deal. First the Lucy now Otis and I'm afraid Sally out little house dog is not far behind. Otis was Jasper's little buddy. He took it pretty hard.

Shoot Jon, that sucks.

I spent the weekend doing punch list stuff at the lake.
Got a lot done.

Now to get the important punch list moving...

State of affairs at COB tonight. Of course only a teaser.

I’ve yet to rework the wiring harness but it’s ready to start now. One more night and I should have this back on the crane to do the rear cover and oil pan.

Need to order some rubber hoses. The moulded ones are critical as straight hose kinks. At least I waited for only one more order. A couple fuel lines and a couple coolant ones.

Some parts replacing some others that aren’t going back on. Black “spacers” are new…

Finally bought a cheetah style tire inflator. Tried it out on an old Hummer tire that deflated. I ran these on my old truck 20 years ago and had to use acetylene to mount them on 16.5s at the time. I had tried cheetahs and starting fluid with no success.

Only reason the tank worked this time is because the beads had memory.

That's a handy tool to have around. We have a couple of them. Somewhere.
Speaking of tools we lost a great man recently. He came round once a year selling tools and shop supplies. I always looked forward to his visits not only to see the latest and greatest but for great conversation. When he was overdue for our visit this year I started asking around and found his obituary. I know this isn't the prayer thread but say one for his family anyway.

ratchet strap and starting fluid. quit being a sissy Ken.  those things are worth their weight in gold on those old bias ply swampers though.

I’m on the search for a few of these smaller older sledge hammer heads. 2.5-3 lb heads.  Project in mind.

I have been to the local yard/garage sales and haven’t found any of this shape

Since so many men on this forum construct/build/excavate, I’d like to offer a simple reminder to be cautious and to use appropriate safety measures when possible. Things can go sideways in an instant. Be safe out there gentlemen.

Got this trailer on FB today for $50. New 15" tires, need the axle for making a scraper. Metal alone is worth much more and it has a 2500# winch to boot.

Was in town and I stored it on the flatbed, what a pain it was getting on there.

Put my Ryobi saws all up against out older De Walt. The Ryobi weighs less and cut just as fast and the battery lasted longer. In the DeWalts defence that battery is few years old. Both 18 volt lithium. For the cost Ryobi won this round. I got the whole bag of tools for a little more than what one Milwaukee drill cost.

In a previous comparison the DeWalt circular saw beat the Ryobi. But the DeWalt is bigger.

I just don't want to wind up missing a digit or limb.  I can sometimes get in a hurry to get results.

The Ryobi won’t last near as long as the Dewalt did.

Agreed. But I got my set to keep in the camper and do small stuff around the house. For a typical home owner that might say 10 boards a year it's good enough. And cheap enough of we get broke into on the road I'm not out alot of cash.

Can't tell by the pic, but if you're not happy with something don't take a chance. Follow your gut. Too hard to fix later.

Thursday on the way home from work it took me putting in 3 gallons of water to make it home. The engine oil cool was just dumping coolant out. Ran around and got all the gaskets/seals yesterday. Will be removing and re-sealing and installing today.

Just running down the road and didn't notice the temp gauge. All the coolant dumped out all over the back of the engine. Idiot light come on over heating. I just hope I didn't ruin the engine. Temp gauge was pegged out over 260. Lucky I was only a mile from home. Neighbors gave me ride.
