Combo welder/plasma/tig

(1/1)

JR:
Guys, thinking about getting something for the property that is versatile and cost effective. Name brands are double the price easy and want to be able to mig/stick and try Tig. Plus a plasma is the only way for cutting even with the need for air. I have brands at home now.

Liking what I read about the new titanium multi use units from HF. Either the 170 or 200 unit, both are 110/220 which my gen's will handle. Then take the savings and get a cheapo plasma cutter, which are well under $200 now.

So for around $800 I get it all. Throw a small compressor I need to get anyway and am set for up there.

Thoughts?

I have owned a couple of the "Cut-50D plasma units. Buy plenty of nozzles, they won't last.

Then I purchased a hypertherm and that's the last plasma I ever bought

For general welding around the homestead, I'd say a stick welder will get it done, And for metal cutting, I mostly use a cut off wheel or chop saw, the real one with a blade, not a sparkin' grindin' dust maker.
