When I did mine years ago I couldn’t find a good review on the red head.  The old old posts were but the quality and warranty had gone way south.

Then calling in to blue top ( disgruntled employee of red top) told me the story and I was impressed, when I had an issue the sent out a new box zero question!

The second box worked flawless.

I was having a very odd. No steering ability citation at slow speeds in a parking lot. Truck would drive straight when hard right was required.

Finished this last night but Tapatalk was having issues with letting me post pics. Added this tab to hold pin when not in use. Needs some paint yet

About the same as I plan. 4"x4", two 10' sections. I went with square since rectangle was more.

Nice work Shawn, You know I am doing the same. Just waiting for a little better weather!

Looks like I going to need a steering box. Anyone heard of Blue Top? Not as pricey as redhead and way better reviews.

I had my LBZ box rebuilt by them a couple years ago. Quick turn around. Love how they paint it too.

They even sent it back with my welded shut steering line ends LOL

Had a good day of basketball today. Zane's team won both of their games and Jasper's team won theirs.

I was really proud to see Zane was playing point for part of the game. The coach's kid plays that position.

Zane was also asked to join the traveling team. It's a mixed team of 5th and 6th graders that will play in tournaments in Lincoln and Sioux Falls. That means more hotel rooms but his self esteem has taken a real boost. He has been fighting some depression so this is really huge for him.

Been hard at the boat this week.
We’re going to Mexico for February so I’ve gotta get it rollin.

Fittin an fussin…

Movin along…

Gittin there.

Vinyl bits all wrapped up.

A big change.

Ah wirin we go…

Re-riggin and gittin rid of the old that ain’t going back in.

New addition. My motor and fish finder both support NMEA2000. I dunno either. Short version is I can get all my engine data displayed on the screen of the fish finder.

Moving along.

So. I’ve got a bit of the wiring back in. Some circuits tested others not so much yet. Got a mystery red with black trace wire that I ain’t got no idea what it’s fer. Got a couple others I’m pretty sure about and then four fuses that were used before that are all empty currently…

“I’m an electrician….I said…how hard can it be…I said.”

So I’ve got a bit of cypherin of some random wires to sort out. The good news is there ain’t that much that uses electrons that ain’t already hooked. So I’m not gonna lose sleep over why the dag gone fuses are blank.

New garmin 95sv to add to the dash, complete the re-rig of the controls, add a couple seat pedestals and I think it’s getting that close. I’d wager a few more nights of wiring and it will be close.

Made the first trip north w/ new trailer and “illegal tags”. They were for delivery only “unloaded”. Trailer was semi lightly loaded as I really don’t have alot of inside storage atm. Quite a bit of black ice again north of Casper, WY. I’m flying back next month. Need to work on my shop office for a few days in preparation for renting or selling shop in the fall. Plan is to install the stairs and flooring / trim.

Edit: after posting that I decided to do a rough calculation in my head on weight. I’m thinking I had roughly 6k-8k in weight on that trailer. Trailer weighs around 5k so it should be able to safely haul 12k.

Looks like we are going to get a decent snow so we awakened the the snowmobiles from their 5 year slumber. The old early 70s Polaris star and a 90 something ski doo 583. After changing the gas she smoked a bit but seemed happy. Not quite enough snow on the ground yet. We will go play tomorrow.

Killer deal on the trailer. You just did all that work in your shop too? Hey, what are stock H1 wheels worth now? Sold the tires, but have 5 wheels with "soft runflats".

Showing a high of 31, low of 9f at the Ridge. Was planning to go up this weekend but may put off for another week.

If you find right guy maybe $50 each….. I prefer the mag runflats but tire selection is the issue now.

So the wife and I along with our two dogs took a trip a little over an hour west to Walmart in Sandpoint, ID today which is a once a month trip for us maybe. It was sunny and above freezing plus it’s a great scenic drive as we cut across thru Clark Fork.

On the way there I told the wife I needed to stop at a place called Arrow Works in Clark Fork. They were or are the sole Mathews bow distributors in this area. I arrived to find the place closed and made a quick call to the number listed. You see the owners run this business out of their detached garage and happen to reside there.

The guys name was Pete and he’s 84 years old! But still works six days a week. I also was able to meet his wife of 42 years whom apparently can call in a moose or elk as if it’s her day job. We spent more time talking about their hunts together than the bow I put a deposit on. Which is a LH Mathews Phase 4 in 33” a-2-a and 70# draw weight. He measured my draw length since it’s been 28 years since I bow hunted (I couldn’t recall my draw length but guessed and was off a 1/2”) and measured me at 30”.

He fully sets up the units with either top of the line name brand goodies or a middle of the road priced quality set of parts (things like rest and sights etc) I chose the latter as name brand doesn’t mean anything to me after being out of this game so long. He assured me the middle of the road was similar quality but a more reasonable price. So I left a deposit and am now waiting for that to come in. He’s also making up a dozen of arrows for me as well.

I’m glad I found this shop, it was nice to meet them. I literally could have talked to them all afternoon.

You need to Ken, ask to meet his wife from the east coast (she has a bit of an accent I picked up on) and is a spit fire! Great hunting stories from those two and how they met, awesome place!

Been a whirlwind week for me.
Had management meetings in the big city last week.
So that was a write off for everything.
Got to see the grandson so that was awesome as always.
8 months this week so crawing and not far from real trouble.

Home late Thursday out to cabin Friday early to warm it up for the boss.
Buddy texted to see when I was home.
Wanted to cut firewood.
So we did.
About two cords each.
I know pics or it didn’t happen.
Y’all gonna have to wait as it’s gonna be a month before we’re back out.
Still needs spit but should be most of my wood needs for a couple years.
Burning diesel has cut my wood significantly.

Back at the boat tomorrow night. Hope to have it all wrapped up by the weekend.
I just don't want to wind up missing a digit or limb.  I can sometimes get in a hurry to get results.

Back story:

So as you may or may not know my original company name was Great Lake Off Road or as people used to refer to it GLO. After selling it in 2015 and the new owner taking it into chapter 11 which I bought the assets from under a different company name (all legal bs to protect me, degrees of separation in lawyer speak). I have now shuttered that other company name in Colorado after 7 years and have registered the new company via the old name in Montana.

Fast forward to this weekend. The wife made a comment to which I’m sure she is regretting as of today. She told me I need a lounge in the new shop. Complete with couch and beer fridge etc, call it a man cave adjacent to the new shop. After she said it I kind of agreed with her thinking.

So mid day today I’m scrolling fb marketplace and low and behold what do I find but the above tiny wood stove fully functional but in need of some love. The best part is the name!

So I in my opinion over paid $300 which was the full asking price for said item and really doesn’t sit well with me paying full price for anything. However, it allowed me to step in front of another lady and apparently ten other people who were interested in this stove.

Nice find. Seeing those more and more as everyone is going to pellet stoves and they say wood burning is bad.

And all those stoves burning for the next 50 years won’t pollute as much as al gores private jet in a single trip to a climate conference

I think that stove is a great find.

Be interesting to see what you do with it to "Recondition/fluid-change it. ;-)

Did a small bit of research on it last night. It’s modeled after the popular Jotul 601 wood stove. GLO-fire made them early to mid 1900’s

I think I’ll try to take this to the local sand blaster in Libby and get it to bare metal then use some high temp bbq paint on the exterior.

That's what I was thinking too.

I sprayed that wood kettle in my shed with stove-brite, and after many fires it is un-marred
