I did a little swapping/upgrading today
What am I looking at?

So you had a last gen D-max LP5...Is this something different?

I took off the diamondback tonneau cover and put an ARE canopy on it.

Now I just need help figuring out some sort of tool, strap, hitch stuff storage so it's not in the way.
I sure did love a truck shell.  Just a pia to store or take off and heaven help me to remove one for a long bed on my own.

What do you mean hitch storage? Like a metal rack to go in your receiver

Shawn said his are still out some, rather use him. Kit I am looking at uses all GM stuff and will fit smaller wheels (16?) even though I run 17s. Think the big 14 use dodge calipers?

Correct. The 14.1” rotor setup uses the late model Ram 3500 rotors and dual piston calipers and requires 17” or larger wheels. I will wait for Shawn’s parts also. Here is the machined hub and 14” Ram 3500 rotor.

when i had a canopy on my LBZ, it never came off. if i have to haul larger things, I have either a 10' dump trailer or a 28' enclosed car trailer. so if the top came off, it would be a once in a lifetime thing ... lol (famous last words)

I have a bulletproof hitch system, with a dual 2" & 2-5/16 that stays in the hitch and i have a 1-7/8 that i kept in the truck box along with a couple extra pins.

thank you ryan, that built right system looks pretty neat. and luckily they do make one for an 18 standard bed 2500. I would have to ponder that $600 - 1000 price tag. the only thing that would make this a no-go for me is that it takes away my upper tie down eyelets ... as this system secures itself in to those 2 holes. i might be able to make it work.

i have seen a few different versions of that swing case, and have pondered it. after watching a clip of the system on a screen that i can see, i could possibly see that as being an option.

I transport dogs back there, so under seat storage is not really an option.

In all honesty, I do not keep items like the list below inside the cab of my truck. I have personal experience and knowledge of just how deadly of a projectile those types of things can become in a rollover. Wendy tries to give me schiff because when i get into the drivers seat of any vehicle, because it takes me a few moments to put stuff in secure places and remove crap that does not need to be in the drivers compartment of the vehicle.

this is a list of what stays in my truck at all times:

1. several different straps for securement of loads in either bed or trailers
2. a set of emergency triangles
3. a 10 ABC fire extinguisher
4. a fully equipped tool bag
5. 2ga x 25' jumper cables
6. 1-7/8 hitch ball

Iv wanted to build a box on drawer slide rails that sits on top of the bed cap edge of the shell.  So you can roll it forward or back, lock in place, up off the ground so you can use the whole bed.

Never got that far though

I use a recycle bin at the for the less used items.
Wrench sets, Diesel 911, cables, emergency supplies etc.
I then have a milk crate at the tailgate.
Tail chains, straps, recovery stuff, extra ball mounts.
Ran form the front tie downs to the rear I have a ratchet strap.
This keeps everything reasonably tied in place.
If the space is needed, they all go out real quick.

At 350k miles, my topper has never been off.
It came close when three of the four cheesy aluminum mounting clamp things broke.
It is now secured by 4 (6?) 1/2' bolts and nuts...
So yeah, some don't ever come off.

I just don't want to wind up missing a digit or limb.  I can sometimes get in a hurry to get results.

I have thought of a rack similar the one above, just a DIY for 2-3 hitches on the inside of the bed. I probably carry to much now, but they are a pain to dig out when I need a diff one. Sometimes I leave the D ring out back too.

My shell means I get to register as a "non commercial", saves me 2-300 a years in ali.

The shelf I have in my shell is great, holds the little things and is great for camping stuff leaving floor open.

Changed the oil on the whole house standby generator.

It was much harder than it had to be.  Next time will be easier as it just took a while to figure everything out.

I changed oil in three dirt bikes and found one brand new bike as of last year, had a very poor air filter

I picked up the toy hauler from the RV store, new roof, second AC unit and a leaking grey tank drain valve all fixed, 2 new 6v interstate batteries for $130 each to power the things.

Then dinner and drinks with the wife then a drive up the mt.
Seen a fun rock wall

Not 100% sure what’s going on but it looks horrible

Did a service on the Toyhauler Rv generator today.  Previous owner said he had done it and I didn’t have tools to double check.  But looks like it was long over due for a service

Fresh synthetic oil, new plugs, more fuel filter and oil filter

These were pretty bad

Not a bad service to do actually fairly simple.  But she purrs nice and quiet now.

I saw some incredible engines being built at Haisley Machine in Fairmount, Indiana while I was checking on a project they are working on for me. I also stopped to visit an old friend sitting outside in front of the local American Legion post.

Sold the Chevy Duramax truck today

Prayed over this for weeks

A great young couple purchased it

They already have a trip planned with it pulling their 34-foot camper.

My farm equipment is selling really fast.

and

things I never knew were of any interest to people.

One gentleman bought the out-house!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'll bet the farm goes pretty quick. For some reason, Robertson County land is super-hot right now.

Took a couple days off to enjoy the desert before it gets any warmer. Took a 25 mile trail (5 hours in the General... Very rough) that ended at an oasis. Never been here and definitely planning to go back.

So, it's a wide slot canyon, running water year round, that ties into a larger canyon with a protected status, and more water.... not even allowed to hike that one without a permit.

Some of the trees have a 10+ foot stump. Saw a couple families of Coati also. Too bad we had to leave right away to make it back to camp before dark.

Somewhere to store his ball mount(s) when it’s not in the receiver I’m guessing

I’ve seen these plastic tub things on Facebook lately - made in the USA too. Of course now I can’t find it.

Then there is this stuff, but “not supported” on HDs

Or one (or two) of these

Found it!

that looks like a good design

My farm equipment is selling really fast.

and

things I never knew were of any interest to people.

One gentleman bought the out-house!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'll bet the farm goes pretty quick. For some reason, Robertson County land is super-hot right now.

Timeline on a level kit for the 3500 appears to be moving up!

Replaced front wheel bearings last night.
One sounded like chewing a balloon, that may have been my noise.
Went to rotate tires and couldn’t. Apparently it’s been two years since they’ve been off again…
More bigger hits tonight.

My body panels are on the slow boat it seems.
So mechanical stuff on the go.
Next up transfer case and drive shafts swap.
This weeks goal.

If I’m ambitious may get to door work…

Just got a letter from social security to inform me medicare part B will cost me another $65 over the $165 standard as I have a "good retirement" income.

Goes in line with all the current policies that you make more, you pay more. I also just get 1/2 of the normal SS if I was poor, now that will be 1/2 of what it was,,,,,,,,,,,,

My $2,700 screw up for the day. I was blowing out the cooling stack and didn't get the fuel / hydraulic cooler back in place properly. When I shut the hood I broke off a little fitting. John Deere says it can't be fixed I got a new one showing up in the morning then I'm going to take this to a radiator shop and see if they can fix it.

To be fair, aluminum is terribly fussy to weld.

Successfully.

I broke the trans cooler on my truck.
Our welder at the time, one of the best I’ve ever worked with, couldn’t get it.

I’m sure he tried his darndest.

But ouch that hurts.
Hope you can find someone to help.
The aluminum on that cooler and line look a lot heavier than the soldered together trans cooler was.
But it’s oxidized, oil covered/coated and filled. Don’t hold too much hope. It will be a tough fix.

So I'm thinking you weld a bung onto the radiator, then attach a fitting to that instead of trying to weld that thin wall tube. The trick with welding aluminum is to have a good solid mass of it to dissipate the heat. You could even solder a bung onto that radiator body

But isn't it the truth?

Aren't we redistributing wealth in a hundred little ways such as this?

We have some powerful undercurrent that seeks to de-niter the wealthy because wealth=power and that power can then choose to resist the will of those who really want America gone.
America and the concept of a free people run against that of a one-world system, where the super-wealthy control the world to suit themselves. They need:

1. No America
2. No independently wealthy people who are not one of them
3. No guns
4. No real freedom of choice
5. billions of fewer people
6. Everyone managed into a box where they have no power to resist the powerful
7. No God
8. General acceptance of "Life as it is."
9. only minimal education
10, People are happy with less or next to nothing, tricked into living lives of little and of work

So, making us pay taxes reduces our personal power.
Flooding us with "needy" people bogs us down with an immense social problem.

You see all they need to do is to flood the country with refugees from everywhere. The culture will then start to shift. Crime will increase. We will be told it is our fault and we ought to be ashamed of what we did to cause this, and therefore penalized. Just let that stew for a decade or two, then kill off about 90% of those who remain, then organize the survivors into labor communes, and there you go. Too few worker bees to really cause any problem who are actually happy just to be alive and get that government daily loaf of bread and the super wealthy with one big, huge national park...

Isn't it all really about the return of Jesus, and all that end-times stuff?
