Title: Coldest recorded temp????
Post by: Flyin6 on January 29, 2019, 05:28:19 PM
So as the President thumbs his nose at the global warming reports, we are again experiencing record low temps. I still don't understand the science behind something gettin' hotter can actually produce the lowest recorded temps in history. Must be a part of LS (Lefty Science).

So let's see who amongst this august group suffered moster than the rest of us.

I'm currently sittin' at +17F, but cold day for we hillbillies is tomorrow.

I have a 2013 Jeep WK2. I can see what I can do, but might not remember. If I had Square D or something similar like that it would be a bit more impressive of a video.

I know. But I think Square D chugging and burping itself to life in Chief's garage technically counts. I mean it sounded like a cold start video.

What are those "minus" signs before the numbers? Never seen them before, and don't ever care to. Yuck

First time I saw a “minus” sign was in the dash of the rental car I had in MN.  I flipped out.  Had to stop and take a picture and send it to my wife.  I had no idea the thermometers in the cars actually had a minus sign in them....

Well to make you feel better, the road surface temps range from -10 to -23. The road itself has that temp.

Morning Bobby.  The craziest thing was tailgating at Lambeau and walking up to the beer tub and the beer was just laying there, with no ice.  I was like “where’s the ice”. They said, dude, its -3 degrees, its plenty cold”

When it gets down into the teens you have to put the beer in a cooler to prevent it from freezing.  On a similar note, you know its cold in WI when even the bars start closing due to weather.

Stupid cold this morning. My garage was 40'...  :likebutton:

So it started fine. Yesterday after work it wouldn't remote start so now I have a check engine light on and I had low tire pressure warning last night.

Then this morning driving in my windshield washers decide to go off all by themselves. 5 or 6 times in a row before they finally stopped! Driving looking through a hole in the smudge while it evaporates away. It happened one time before like that when it was really cold. We will see if it starts tonight and if the check engine light goes away. I think it will after you start and stop it several times. Computers! Grrrr.

Been thinking about y’all.
It actually got cold in a few places hat always whine about how cold they are.

We’ve been locked at or below -40 for a few days.
Extreme cold warming came with it. For us thats -55 or worse...

This morning -43...I don’t pay attention to wind chill. If I’m out I’m on a skidoo and I don’t want to know what -43 and 75mph means...

It’s currently -33 and I’m blessed how nice it is...
Heading out to skidoo to the cabin to light he fire for the weekend.

Sam, don't know if anyone's told you, BUT YOU'RE FREAKIN NUTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

...but maybe it works like this: -43 +75=+32* ?? That's not too bad.

I will say I’m thoroughly amazed at how the human body can acclimate to the cold. I’m also very grateful I no longer live where it has to do such things!

Cold you guys don't know what cold is!!!

Coldest air temp I have physically worked in is -66F  and then add about -25F for wind chill.

Its really amazing how the body will adapt to the cold, it got to the point on the sunny days when the air temp was in the -20 range you could run around outside with just a t-shirt

True story, my wife was all bundled up walking the dogs today (~ 0 F) and I decided to mess with around. Took off my shirt and ran out to hang out with her and the dog. The coldest part was when she hugged me and the metal buttons on her coat hit my bare chest.

I don't think it works like that

I have seen -57 before, actually many times...at 41,000 feet while sittin' in my toasty warm cockpit. But looking at that OAT gage gave me a chill!
