Build Threads / Re: SquareD Part 7 Start it up!
« on: September 12, 2015, 10:59:23 AM »
Still working on Big-Red/Sarge as it is presently changing from one to the other, however Dan, my welder and fabricator friend sent me a pic of the custom fuel tank he built for Square D

Dan made the water/alchy tank which also acts as a frame stiffener in the back since it's made from .250 aluminum with .500" thick mounting straps.

This tank was measured out to fit just under the bed rails and tie into both the floor and the steel halo on top of the bed. I think it is in the mid 60 gallon size range.

Nice welds!

Yea, 24VDC
Has a big generator like electric motor sized which I had rebuilt, and two honkin batteries

Faith Discussion / Re: Shall WE support the County Clerk in Kentucky?
« on: September 11, 2015, 05:06:08 PM »
I have thought a lot about this and find that I support what she is doing for the same reasons as TRN mentioned.  We only know the (facts) that have come out in the media, not necessarily all of the facts or the truth.  This woman was not elected to a federal position but a local one and swore to uphold the laws of the state and locality.  I am not positive but think that in Kentucky, the laws says marriage is between a man and a woman.  Activist Federal Judges making law instead of reading and applying the meaning of it according to the constitution didn't change the law in Kentucky.  I think that she is following her oath.  Written law needs to be applied fairly, not selectively.

God doesn't change and wrong is wrong.  We are called to obey the law and follow leaders until there is conflict with the Word of God.  We must each think for ourselves and determine our course of action.  The time is coming for civil disobedience, which is what she is doing.  We each experience different things in our lives.  As we pray and seek God's will, we must determine what actions he wants us to take and execute.  We can't save anyone.  Our task is to be obedient to Him and tell people about Jesus.  You can't argue anyone into heaven.  They must accept or reject Him on their own.  They will be judged by God as will you.  Each according to the decision that you make to accept or reject Jesus.

You are correct Matt
Kentucky law, our constitution states "Between a man and a woman"

Note: To Matt's commentary. He is correct about what we should do.

For non believers, know that there is only one sin which will not be forgiven by God

And that is

Not accepting his son as your Lord and Savior.

The ONLY way out of hell is to go to heaven

The only way to get to heaven is through the forgiveness of your sins

The only way your sins can be forgiven...The only way

Is to accept that Jesus died to pay with his life for your sin. Either accept Jesus as your one true lord and savior, or someday die then go to hell.

On batteries, I learned something about heavy equipment batteries

They are about the same chemically and have the same plates as automotive batteries.

However

The plates are epoxied to the case at the bottom and the top

So that jarring about won't cause two plates to touch, thus shorting out the operation.

FYI

It's in pretty good shape as well
Went through the transmission. Inspected the final drives. Repaired lines, hoses, and O-rings. Installed new sprockets. Repaired loose road wheels and installed missing bolts all over. It has two new batteries, changed the radiator hoses and fresh antifreeze. Changed the oil filter and poured in 4 gallons of Amsoil synthetic. Serviced the air cleaner system. Bolted on a new exhaust stack. Fabbed up the front ROPS system. Rebuilt the generator. Got the instruments all working. Repaired the engine shutoff. Lubed the entire thing. Adjusted track tension. Replaced most of the hydraulic fluid. Purged the fuel system. Repaired some leaks in the shifter system. Replaced the old battery cables. Replaced the rear main shaft plate which had worn out. Changed final drive fluids, steam cleaned it twice, and now a fresh paint job!

Yep, it's in good shape (I hope!)

The paint dried, and hardened a bit glossier than I am used to.

When I used this stuff on Squareness, I just thinned it and shot away. But here I am using catalyzed hardener because I'll be knockin down trees and I wanted something to stand up a tad better.

Here's the morning after, well a day actually. The red streaks are dust streaks from the panel above. It rained...

Coffee Induced Early Morning Rant / Re: my postion on "preparedness"
« on: September 10, 2015, 09:11:29 PM »
It's definitely the humidity and not so much the heat that affects one. In Kandahar from sometime in June until later in September it is never below 100F. I'm talking at 3AM. We look forward to the first time it dips down to 99 for an hour or so before sunrise.

But there it was so dry the dust made dust. You almost couldn't sweat. You just got gritty with the fluid (Sweat) leaving the sweat gland then evaporating leaving it's find deposit of salt behind. So by the end of the day you have all these white lines all over your clothes from the salt that was in your person.

If you added humidity to that, hang it up. I don't actually know how hot it gets there. I have a photo showing 128F, but that was likely in the sun and just the plastic thermometer melting.
Our aircraft has OAT gages (Outside air temp) and they went from -40C to +50C. Many days I saw the pointer out of the range above the fifty mark. 50C = 122F so we might have danced with the upper 120's!

First it was "as soon as the bumper gets painted and installed", now its "as soon as Sarge gets finished and shipped"  Next it will be as soon as Obama becomes a conservative....
Sorry to mislead, not intended
I look at things as linear, however segmented. So the SquareD project which is dormant at the moment, pick right back up where I left off. There are several things needing attention, like getting the hide site more livable, new toilet seats, pulling weeds around Casa number momma and so forth. So when I get done with this ankle biter, I am right back on Square D and it will run!

Weird how all of you are so anxious to see that truck run...and I'm not...weird!

I almost purchased a Kobelco 200, Mark IV, I think a 2002 model, maybe a 2000 with 8,000 hours and a 6BT Cummins for power. But it wasn't tracking straight. Turned out to be a right side drive motor. Richard, Larry and the boys treated me right and even though it was theirs up for sale, they steered me clear of it.

Mike said it all well. Not based on his feelings or "I guess I'm OK with this or that. He said it based on God's word.

In the end that is all we will have and each of us will personally go before God and give a reckoning of everything we did, everything we thought, all of it. All of it, that is except that which has been forgiven. And only forgiven by Jesus's sacrifice. God says he can't see that. All he can see in you is the blood of his son washing you clean.

People are free to say and do and feel anyway they want. Religion is a great tool for Satan, he uses it even in this thread. Here you read enough and you'll find the classic references to, Well this guy was a Catholic and did this, and this Baptist was cheating on his wife and on and on.

With all of those statements one focuses on A. a person (Not Jesus), and B. A religion.
The cheating Baptist, the homosexual priest, the congregation that mistreated you. All tools and snares of Satan. As long as one is bitter he is controlled and blinded. That is as far as he ever gets. And if Satan can keep that going until the drunk driver takes you out at 3PM, then he has you. No redemption after death. You don't know Jesus...and just hearing about him is not good Then you die and go to hell forever.

So of course the Devil is going to keep as many folks trapped in feelings that suggest "religion is a huge lie. And there is a good reason people think that. It IS! Yep, organized religion like Islam kills people every day. Christians killed countless thousands over the centuries. The Catholic church employs some satanic symbols. Baptist evangelists are almost routinely caught up in stealing, drugs, or affairs. Religion is mostly hypocritical when one examines and sifts through the parishioners.

However look a bit further and one might see good Godly people in almost any faith. Jesus did not like religion. The religion he was born into, the Jews had him horribly put to death. Nope, He nor his father focus not on religions, however on the individual. The relationship you actually share with your God (if you have one) is all that matters. Religions do provide some structure. Priests, Pastors and the like, and nice churches to gather in, and networks of like minded people, and support in times of need and stuff like that.

So point is go where you will, it's your life. But regardless of what any of us think, say or do, the word...God's word in the bible does not change. And the word was God...
