1993 Cummins build
« on: February 17, 2019, 03:45:49 PM »
I bought this truck back in the summer of 2015 while I was still in high school. I was working full time cutting grass during the summer and part time during the school just to have enough money for insurance and pocket change.
By my senior year I had finally saved up enough money to put a pair of stick 18’ wheels from a 2016 Dodge 2500 on the ole truck. I joined the army shortly after graduating and left my truck sitting at home for around a year and a half and decided to buy a newer truck with was my uncles 02’ lb7 Duramax. Nothing to fancy just enough to get me from Fort Campbell to Alabama every time I wanted to come home but still something that could haul weight if I need be. So this Christmas I went and picked up a passenger door and fender since the previous owner had dented up the passenger side a good bit. I spent a day of my Christmas leave swapping the parts over. Then I found the front bumper from the Square D build and knew that I wanted that to be on my truck so I drove up and picked it up one weekend. Then this weekend I got a four day weekend and decided to come home and put her on the ole truck. But not before I had to cut the old bumper the previous owner had welded on there. After getting the bumper taken apart and trying to keep the winch plate in good shape my uncle cut 3 inches off each fender so the bumper would fit perfect. After all that was left was to put the bumper on and put the bolts in. And this is what it looks like now. The trucks not the best in the world and I still have a lot of work to do but this is what I’ve came up with so far. Still needs a lot of work but I do a little bit here and there when my wallet permits.

Nice, glad to see that bumper on a vehicle which moves under its own power!

CM truckbed, it’s 7x7. It’s made for the frame of a Dodge pickup (which is narrower than a Chevy frame) but nothing a welder and a lot of spare metal couldn’t fix.

I’m not to sure sir, I looked up the id # from the bed but had no luck finding an answer online. I bought from a dude and not a store so I have no way of having a positive answer for you. I’m sorry.

No Worries. Buying from an individual is probably the best way to buy one!

Where are you at in Alabama?  That diet and those trees look familiar, my wife is from just north of Montgomery in Wetumpka but we most head down to outside Birmingham when we go now.

Camron,

That bumper looks right at home!

Nice to See SquareD now outfitting your truck and many other cool Dodge trucks all over the place.

Those things will just never die (thank goodness!)

I forgot that I had cut three inches off the bottom of the fender to fit it!

Are you guys both referring to regular truck beds, and not flat beds? Because if your referring to flat beds, it seems there’s only a few dealers, or else I simply can’t find others and should probably not be building a vehicle

Edit: Shawn are you thinking Texas is the truck bed as well?

you have to buy used, find someone that bought a truck for the motor and trans and wants rid of everything else.  Or just buy the truck with the bed you want, sometimes thats the cheapest route, going new gets real expensive!

Dunno much about anything.... that said, we have like 8 "dealers" that sell flat beds of all shapes and sizes in a 10 mile radius.

When we do new farm trucks we order them sans bed.... take delivery, and drop them off for a new custom made aluminum flat bed to be installed. Been doing that for well over 25 years now. Almost everyone that farms does this.... no one makes a truck worth owning from the factory bed wise....they are all tin foil. $6k for a nice aluminium flat bed is WAY cheaper for the 3 years we run a pickup then to fix all the damage we'd do to a normal bed LoL Also they discount the trucks like $4k if you buy them sans beds so....works financially also.

Not hiding, just ran into a handful of wiring issues that have kept me tracing wires and wiring around fusible links whenever I’m back home.
