Jon the shaft doesn't spin when not in 4WD. I'd start with a known good set of wheels and tires. Maybe off the Z71. Eliminate the easy things first. I recommend a one piece driveshaft for the rear.  Get rid off all that un necceary crap. If you eliminate those then I'd look at the front diff. If the front shaft joints look good.

Jon. When the bus was mall crawler par excellence, the 12 inch lift required a longer driveshaft. I wanted to sell the shaft with the kit so I left it off  and had a hard time finding a replacement.  Well a replacement for less than an arm and a leg. Finally found an all original from an 01 with the 8.1L off eBay for $120 shipped. Even with the lift I'm able to drive 50 with no vibrations

Frankly, I'd be a bit scared at this time. Want to pull the motor, pull it down for a good inspection and fresh rings/bearings and let it sit unfinished for years.....

Make nice with a local AC contractor and you can probably get a used furnace they are replacing for free. It'll be basically a box with a squirrell cage blower in it. Use duct board to make an intake that will accept what ever filter you want. Hang it from the ceiling run power and a control cable to a wall switch or hanging pull switch. Done. Whole thing should not be bigger than 2x2x5 feet.

I remember watching him, pretty much every recipe that had wine or some form of alkeyholic beverage in it was measured as "One splash in the recipe and one drink for me, ho boy that's good...."

hooo hooo.  yes sir.  thats the one.  I loved the story he told about a young dirty faced boy dragging a hawk down the side of the road when he stopped the boy and asked " whatcha doin wit dat der hawk"  BOY: "making gumbo".  Justin: "Hawk make good gumbo?", BOY: "bout like spotted owl".....

Dave. Thanks for making me pull that cookbook off the shelf. I watched this guy cook on public television back in the 80s. He was a forerunner to all the new cooking shows like Emeril Lagasse.

He's (was-he's dead now) the real deal coonass. Here are his recipes for jambalaya.

Interesting dialogue. I can tell you down here in Tejas that NAFTA has allowed a lot of unsafe trucks on our roads. Would be interesting to know if those stats are with NAFTA drivers and what that data would look like with US drivers only, spiked out

Sounds like fun Mike. Today I cleaned out the attic of home base after having cleaned out the garage yesterday. Drove the wife's GL after $4000 worth of repairs (oil cooler, glow plug controller, new windshield and an air strut) and pronounced it cured. It left no more oil on the garage floor. Installed the bed cover for the Dually and that went really easy. Just not sure if I can get the tool box lid up enough to fill the fuel tank but we'll see when I reinstall it in a couple weeks.

I tried to stick to the question and just get him into 308 cheap by suggesting he reload. :-0

but now that the lid is off that genie bottle....

Minute of scumbag at 600 can be done by any off the shelf AR10, especially if you roll your own and develop a recipie that shoots well in your weapon.  For impatient guys like me, I don't want to work too hard at getting proficient with a crappy trigger.  No matter what you get, invest in a good trigger, whether that be a giessele or a timney or jewel.  it will make you a much better shooter quickly.

As funds and desire materialize you can build a better upper to increase accuracy.

Enjoy!

First, Nate congratulations.  Sorry Ive been a bad influence on you.  Wondering why you hadnt written.....

Look forward to catching up.

got togehter with my family to celebrate my parent's 70 and 74th birthdays.

Got a few things for me while I was at it and my brother in law gave me some weapon related stuff for my birthday.

I got myself:  A new set of Henkel kitchen knives.  My current set will go to the other house.  A set of 4 AR500 steel targets from ShootSteel in MN.  5.7x12 inches 5/16 thick.

My Bro in law got me: A magpul 21 rd G17 mag, a 12hour beeswax candle, some D Lead handwipes and a new pelican knock of case.
My dad got me a new Dado blade for my table saw, something I've always wanted and never bought.

Happy New Year! Real Men

Don as you know kids circulate colds through the house pretty regularly. This last time I started taking a caplet of Zinc once a day as soon as the kids came down with it. I got it anyway but it was very mild and didn't last long( I never lost a work outside day). I highly recommend it in the future.

Actually i would submit that the issue is that the law is not enforced.  Texas highways are covered in signs that clearly state "left lane for passing only" yet the police never enforce it. Then you have these ignorant drivers that get peeved when you roll up on them hot in a 9200 lb dually and give them the brights. Which usually results in them getting the train horn

Had a lazy day today. 2 hours in the phone with norm. Then figuring out birthday gifts for some relatives and then an hour drive into town to get some parts to install my new bed cover and some misc supplies and then a stop by harbor freight to get a metal chop saw and some hex bit and torx bit sockets

Now working on a 4 tier log cabin fire with 24 inch oak sticks. Singed my eyebrows but the whiskey is helping.

Interesting you should mention that Bobby. A few nights ago I heard a Blackhawk beating the air coming towards my weekend place/hide.  I'm in the middle of nowhere east texas piney woods and it was eerie. Very low and then pulled up from about what I'd estimate 200ft to 1000 ft just as it began flying over my property. Perhaps the big campfire made them want to pull up a bit. Dunno but it was pitch black and I definitely recognized that beat.

It's a binary compound legal to transport and store in its component parts. Once mixed it is illegal to transport or store. It can only be ignited by a shockwave produced by a round traveling greater than 2000 fps. Pistol rounds , a hammer, fire, nothing else will set it off. It can be sympathetic detonation with set cord or plastic explosives but then you'd be in trouble anyway.

A gallon jug mixed produces quite the bang. A small(pint?) container is equivalent to a 1/4 stick of dynamite.

You can also make your own with cool packs and aluminum powder.

What Red stated above, also if you're looking at glocks look to the used market. I have had the chance to buy several glocks in .45 over the years for a very reasonable price. I always begged off as I don't need another round really. But I've watched guys buy them and sour on them for one reason or another, nothing to do with function though. No offense to you TRN, just stating my experience.....

It takes more effort to offend, sir Shawn.  :-)

Its a personal thing.  Some don't like the grip angle or don't trust their trigger finger to be their safety.  In that case there are other reasonable alternatives that are intellectual theft of property copies.....uh the S&W M&P comes to mind....

Not sure if CZ makes a 45, but that's another option for not a lot of money.

As Shawn said, on the secondary market is a good place to aquire.  I did a lot of that a couple years ago and FTF deals are not logged anywhere....just sayin.

Search estate sales and CL to find a cheap reloading set up.  A classic RCBS rock chucker or almost any other press will do.  You can probably get into a basic 7.62 reloading set up for 2-300 dollars.  Once you develop a recipie of powder and projectiles, you can reload and shoot very inexpensively and its really easy, even an Amry pilut could do it and not blow himself up if he followed the rules...(oh, that...may be a problem for said pilut)

I say do it.  Roll your own, increase your accuracy and plink for cheap.  The M1A makes a great sledge hammer when out of ammo too!

For a truck gun that sees lots of harsh environments and little routine "love" I would highly recommend a polymer weapon (dare I say the G word?). A full size G21 with a 10RD mag would almost never need to be maintained and would fire while full of Cheetoe crumbs ( I've shot  with beat cops that had crumbs in their holster and weapon)
