Whatever you’re seeing must be the pic, idk. There’s no low spot in the roof. As far as standing seam, yeah it’s the best and had the rest been done in that fashion I would have made it match. I suppose if it ever all gets replaced and I’m still here I’ll do it then. For now it matches and it’s covered. Moving mill and lathe this week.

East wall set, swear Charles ordered his humidity for us up here. I think after these recent rains I lost 5# in sweat alone today…….

So far I’ve used 165 pcs of 2x6 x 16’ along with some additional treated for the base plate. Using #2 it saved me about 15% on the cost. I do have to sort them but with all the blocking needed that 15% savings was worth it for me.

The open ditch in second pick from top? We installed a 12” culvert there 40’ long. That swail was part of original landscape, it drains to the south just east of cabin & machine shop. Had to put in culvert to access the big shop.

Should get the header in and it closed up above the rear 10’ x 10’ overhead door tomorrow then we have a short camping trip to see two of our daughters in Bozeman over the weekend. I will get the walls all buttoned up next week prior to another trip to Colorado. Be glad to move on to framing something other than walls! So close…..

Thanks Charles, first it was the humidity and now it’s the mosquitoes. Wasn’t a cloud in sight all day today. But those darn mosquitoes will try to eat me up regardless.

Steel roofing on machine shop

In this pic ^^^^^^ you can see the non blocked wall studs are tipped into the left at the top. I purposely left out blocking and osb until this section of wall was put in place. We were able to move it with little real effort see below.

Hell, idk……. Lol, I just threw it in the saw and cut it at an angle I thought was good. Turns out it was just about right! I can bring a protractor back with me from Colorado and get you a true measurement if you like?

I could also take a couple measurements and lay it out in cad to figure out the angle if you need.

Looks pretty good. I was thinking about adding gussets to the upper corners where it hooks to the mount, is that where yours gives a little?

No sir, that’s a 1/4” plate for reference. My lower section of tube has a slight bow in it I believe. I think it happened when I had the upper section collapsed in it and picked up the heavy east wall with 2 wi dows framed in it and fully sheeted. There are 3’-4’ of tube on the lower just past the bracing to the plate and before it gets to the extension (upper inner tube) when collapsed. I think the inner tube being inside kept that portion straight and the weak area was the section with just the lower tube. It needs a back strap built into it. I should have welded some flat bar on the top side on edge to give it more support. I think I can straighten it and add a back strap yet.

Last section of wall framed and stood up today right before rain hit. Secured it in a good steady rain storm. So happy they’re all up! Now to finish some blocking tomorrow and some sheeting.

Walls blocked 100% and sheeting done.

Going to wrap it next then start fabricating rafters for the north short side. I’ll start by hanging a 2x10 with timber locks off the side about a foot down from top of tall wall then use that to attach steel hangers to on the high side of the short roof.

Once I get those rafters installed and the roof decked on the short side we can install the trusses over the tall section.

Wrapped as much as I can until I set trusses (sheeting will hang down off each end truss about 5”). Starting rafters on north side next day or so depending on rain. Will finish up today moving dirt around east and north side to fill up against foundation and bring it to final grade.

Idk, 36” maybe it’s not true Montana cold here. Kind of a banana belt so to speak. I’m going to cover most of it 36”+ and the south side near where the rv will be parked under the lean to may be a little less.

So went to pickup my garage doors today. Openers, track, springs, trim, nice insulated doors with windows to match this garage door in this picture. This is the picture I showed said knucklehead to get the overhead doors ordered to match. I pre paid in full just shy of $9k

Go to grab them and they start loading them up, they’re white! I’m like is that just a plastic covering? Or are those white? Guys are like these are white.

So I go in to deal with sales guy. He start’s literally thumbing thru 3 notebooks of chicken scratch. I said you don’t understand, I gave your guy this picture and somehow he ordered white?

His loading guy comes in and asks what he wants us to do about product in my dump trailer. Sales guy says idk this is going to take awhile. I responded, unload them I don’t need $9k in white garage doors.

I got up and started walking towards the door. He says I’ll call you and let you know what or how we can handle this. I just walked out……

Copy, I was pissed enough I’m not even sure it’s the correct panel they ordered. They did get glass in one panel on each door so I believe that’s correct. Rather than run off at the mouth being upset I decided it was best to leave. I’ll see what they say when they call.

Yeah, I have miss-matching GD on my house. You have to look to see so not so bad.

For the ridge doors, I setteled for the factory insulating kit. Not the same as premade in the doors, but close enough.

Slow progress, hung the header for the north rafters and welded up then set the post for my shops front porch. Hauled 55 yards of pit run over last two days. Right at 95 yards total filling in the low spot for the u shaped driveway extension. Guessing another 20-30 yards to complete the fill then need to top with -1” gravel. Hoping to have this completed end of next week.

Jcb 215 sprung a leak, pretty sure it still has less than 100 hours on it. This is the third issue, frustrating. Been using it consistently everyday as of late.

Neighbor is going to stick my boom on his 25hp Kubota and set the couple hundred pound beam for porch tomorrow. Then I’m stuck just doing rafters and decking on that until skid is fixed, warranty is nice. I’d rather it not keep having issues though.

Don't feel bad or that this is unique.

100% of my machines and attachments developed leaks. 99% of these are fittings that loosen up from factory installation. I never pay attention to torque settings on that stuff. I get things "Darned tight." and leave it at that. Lately, when I get a piece, I go over it tightening all the hose fittings and that has helped. My Blue Diamond attachments always seemed to have loose fittings. Heck, even my Kubota track loader started leaking and several hoses were loose. I think I may have leaked all that fluid out with several failures and had to top it up with fresh stuff.

I understand, the list I have to complete is currently extensive. I’ll let them tear it half apart to get to it. I then can accomplish other tasks. The u shape driveway was close and backfilling the north and east side of building as well. Was looking forward to those small wins. Oh well, onto other items……
