Title: Brexit Vote
Post by: Wilbur on June 24, 2016, 12:59:47 PM
So what's everyone's take on the Brexit vote today? Very interesting that England has said "pi** off" to the EU. I think this is a sign of people waking up to the idea that bureaucrats with a globalist view have put all of us at risk due to the immigration nonsense that is occurring. And while London just elected a Muslim mayor the rest of England said "enough is enough". I think this parallels very closely what is happening here in the US with Trump and his stand on immigration. Very interesting and I think will open a lot of eyes that this is not a purely US "phenomenon". Ultimately England has far more to fear from terrorists due to their location and the completely open immigration that the EU laws allowed (not to mention the fact that they have allowed themselves to be disarmed). Their vote is (to me) saying "yeah free trade and all is good, but if we're not safe then the he** with all your ideas".

As an aside I like that Trump is in Scotland right now. I would love to hear him come out and say he has met with UK leaders who are of the same mindset and they are working on a trade plan and other countries who share the concerns about unfettered immigration are welcome to be part of it. It would blunt the people decrying him as a pure isolationist and the fears of what that could mean for the US economy. We shall see but clearly his presence is Scotland is not by "chance".

Curious your views/perspectives?

UK doesn't need the EU to trade. They'll be just fine. Market turmoil is temporary, imo. And will likely strengthen US. The real losers will be the small EU countries when the EU dissolves, but that's the way it goes. I for one think a little cage rattling is a good thing. The Brexit move was a democratic one, and I am in favor because of that, even putting potential macroeconomic ramifications aside.

I enjoyed it for all reasons mentioned previously, AND the fact that Obummer was probably a deciding factor in it going in favor of "Leaving" the EU, because he went to England to lecture them on the subject and telling English citizens that he knows best that they should STAY..........hope he's all boo-boo lipped about it too! ;D

As soon as it was announced last night, Gold & Silver shot up huge price jumps and have been roller coastering steady since then.  It might strengthen the Dollar short term, but I'm certain the mountain of debt we're under will come crashing down soon enough! >:(

I think it was a voice for nationalism...as in closing the borders to the influx of refugees from poorer countries, mostly Muslim.
I think you will start to see a rise against Islam in those borders as this nationalistic voice gains strength.  Germany will not be able to sustain the EU, so it's days are numbered. The collapse will enable the economically viable to take off and the debt laden to collapse. The collapses will not be pretty. The EU prevented wars between neighboring countries. That association will now be governed by NATO to some extent, but by by nationalistic and not regional concerns. Therefore you will see border conflicts and things like that coming about.

Italy, Greece, Spain, Portugal, and who knows who will likely collapse due to lack of help from a weaker EU. What comes of that is anyone's guess. But hard feelings will be the order of the day for sure.

All in all, countries came to be because of difficulties in this culture assimilating with that one over the mountains. They existed for a good reason. Just because some socialist thought putting everyone together would work, does not usurp the underlying principal that people are different and perhaps should remain separated for a reason.

Look for Trump to gain speed over this, as he is big on nationalism...

I was speaking to a couple from London when I was in Mexico back about a month & a half ago. She was a lawyer & he was a business owner. They stated that it wasn't any of that guys business what they did & he could piss off I believe was the phrase. Germany is gone regardless, merkel & her elitist friends have doomed them. Several other countries now want a vote France, Italy, Netherlands Now Want Referendum... http://tiny.iavian.net/awfb

Oh & good for GB, now's the time to start the carpentry work on the gallows......

Greece and Spain will be the first to fail I'm sure. That turmoil will continue to make the dollar a great safe haven ( or the we suck less haven) Don well said, for millennia people have fought people over there who didn't look, act, or think, like them. Christ said, " I did not come to bring peace, but a sword". There won't be peace until He returns. Liberals may not wake up to that fact anytime soon but it sure looks like many others are.  If trump can keep his feet out of his mouth this can shure give him some tail wind.
