Nice work there Ken and good idea.

Dave, I think he just milled the holes, but even at 2+ft a full size mill should have a 30 in travel.
To my knowledge a new mill with little wear yes,  a well used mill gets wear in the center and creates a shallow spot if you will.    In the Highschool shop I milled the vise jaws in.  Anything four inches to either side of the centered vise was some work because the old teacher had put the torque on the brass feed nuts under the table.

On the worn portion of the table it ran smooth but on the outside ends it was all I could do to reach the total length with out un clamping my piece

You can see in Ken’s photo he milled the edge of the piece, a small notch

I think the chinese will give Biden a little time to make cuts to the military, and perhaps a big financial crisis. That's when the caps will start poppin'. If we get caught up in that we will get our arse handed to us and a darned good chance to see a tactical nuke used. We just won't have any choice other than to stand by while a democratic nation gets crushed by communists.

Bottled up my ginger beer.
It’s not as punch you in the face spicy as I want.
But it is tasty. And I have ideas for the next one.

Nice colour and clarity.

For those that brew, 0.990 is very well fermented and about a -1.3% so a bonus boost.
So instead of 4-4.5% more like 5.5-6.

Now time will tell how it finishes. Another 2-3 weeks.

Drove to Kansas today, confirmed there is nothing there but cattle and a few scattered oil wells. Picked up 3 kingpin axles, 1 - 14 disc brake rear, 1 th400/205 setup and two other np205’s

Worth noting, while there I filled up truck gas tank & paid with cash ($100 bill) and no one told me it was too large of a denomination, nor freaked when I handed it to them. The gal at the register even counted the money back to me, amazing. No one wore a mask or even glanced when I wasn’t wearing one. Completely enjoyable experience this Kansas!

That was a steel Shawn. Looks like ones a dually also. I still keep looking for another KP, but they think they have gold out here. I may have to bring one home with me, for a fair price of course!

2 gm dually kingpins, 1 already sold as of last night and other may sell this morning. Then 1 srw ford, I may have the ford left past end of week, maybe. These go quick and for $1500 all day long here.

Thats what I paid for mine out here, they are higher now. But looking ahead I may want a SRW to play with. Most I see now are late models with 8x170/80 non kingpin.

I sell the 05+ for 700 all the time, they’re beef and I’ll take them over kingpin all day long & twice on Sunday....

High steer is an easy weld on kit, inexpensive. Machine rotor and unit bearing to 8 on 6.5

All in all you’ll be in at a third the cost of a built kingpin.....

Let me know JR and I’ll have it so you can take one home with ya!!!

So I decided to make some efforts at understanding liberals.

This was as far as I got with understanding Pelosi, it’s a step, right?  Now they can do their part and get a clue.

Started the IAP (Idaho awning project) today. It's going to use a full bundle of 4x4s, 32 feet long. This will be used to cover my 5th wheel and at least the mini excavator....60' long and 15' wide.

The idea is to make it screw together once I'm up there. I bought some 5/16" self tappers to make that happen.

First up was cutting 7 tubes in half to get 14 posts. 3-4 feet in the ground will make them 12-13 tall. Then made a bunch of plates to weld on. All the bare steel gets coated with zinc from a spray can.

Next was the rafters. They are made from 10 footers welded at the peak.
Took me a while to get the angle mocked up but finally got all of them cut and 1 welded. Hopefully finish welding during the week.

Your finding dozers cheaper than Skids? Older skids and dozers (pre 05) don't have all the smog crap.

Yeah, not seeing tracked skids for less than 20k over here, not even seeing old worn out ones.
The Komatsu I just missed out on was 16k. It was really nice for that price.
East coast has small dozers at good pricing but shipping sucks.

If you are looking for a tarp or cover for it, find a place that does tarps for semi's and have them custom make one for you......it will be 1/3 - 1/4 the cost of buying one that does not fit the needs.

That reminds me, i need to upload some pucs of the one i just had made for my dump trailer....

Once you have the size they are on both Ebay and amazon for WAY less than custom.

Would like to make removable for my 22', just like 16-24" so I can throw stuff in there.

First day back in the gym since the pandemic (13 months). It’s tough starting over at my age. It felt good to be back in the routine(if you can call one day a routine) I took it easy but will still probably pay for it tomorrow.

I’m sure Tex is doing them or something similar

Well it’s official,  I’m off to my next full time job, friend who owns the excavation company stopped by and asked if I’d come drive for him.   2018 Mack dump truck with like 20k miles and rotate in and out of an old Peter built day cab hauling equipment or the belly dump when needed.

Fifty hour weeks, all the unpaid vacation I want, a dump truck to take home and make friends with neighbors each morning. I can take the kids for day trips as I go and it has a decent pair grade.

Of course he is paying for my CDL which I take on Friday this week.

Physical, lower DUI standards for your personal CDL. And now you have the DHS to deal with. It is still fun though.

All the unpaid leave you want, hey I get that too!!!

Could sure use you at the Ridge though. Good luck.

DHS only comes into play if you are going for hazmat endorsement

No hazmat but regular overweight and the wide load rules.   The bigger hoes I think require to transport with out their buckets

Don’t much mind the dui requirements as drinkin and driving is bad news no matter what you level is.  Otherwise I think it should be a fun gig. Can’t wait to get the Pete rebuilt and polished up to drive in style
