Title: What's a good, lightweight, portable water purifier
Post by: Flyin6 on March 07, 2019, 12:20:49 PM
I am looking for a good hand or foot pump type water filter to pump out of ponds and streams to fill 5 gal water jugs.

Who has experience with these...Recommendations?

I am a HUGE fan of the Katadyn line. https://www.amazon.com/Katadyn-Technology-Microfilter-Backpacking-Preparedness/dp/B000KUVVY4/ref=sr_1_5?hvadid=178134554533&hvdev=c&hvlocphy=9033348&hvnetw=g&hvpos=1t1&hvqmt=e&hvrand=157215968819148854&hvtargid=aud-649564993678%3Akwd-105364996&keywords=katadyn+water+filter&qid=1551983081&s=gateway&sr=8-5&tag=googhydr-20 mine doesn't look like that one, but I have used it and works great. mine is the $360 big brother version that I've had since 2001, and still running strong. https://www.amazon.com/Katadyn-Pocket-Microfilter/dp/B0007U00YE/ref=sr_1_15?hvadid=178134554533&hvdev=c&hvlocphy=9033348&hvnetw=g&hvpos=1t1&hvqmt=e&hvrand=157215968819148854&hvtargid=aud-649564993678%3Akwd-105364996&keywords=katadyn%2Bwater%2Bfilter&qid=1551983146&s=gateway&sr=8-15&tag=googhydr-20&th=1&psc=1

I’ll second that brand. Have not used that big. Have used smaller ones.

For in a pocket of a BOB I have lifestraws.
1” diameter, 10” long. Literally a straw.
But not a volume producer.

I've had life straws for years.

I was looking for something more on an industrial scale like this:

I’ve got an extra if you want me to send it out. If bought in four packs on sale, they end up only being about 12$ a piece. So I have a few...
