As you get older you expect to lose people that you know but expect that they will be your age or older. We as a country need to take better care of our veterans. Just found out that one of the guys I supervised way back when killed himself. This is the 2nd guy that I have supervised that has done this and the 6th veteran I have known that have taken their own life. I always feel like I could have or should have done more, picked up on something but hind sight is always better. I feel like a failure as a friend and a old boss. I blame this on the country being shut down and this virus these guys need normal not what we have now.

Guys please be in prayer for the Philburn family and all the veterans that are struggling in life. I guess I could use some prayers to find away forward.

Thanks
Steve

So I need to ask for some prayers for a guy I know very little about frankly. His name is Ian, has a family and boys with medical issues in and out of hospital. Ian is a local diesel tech instructor for the high school. I had originally contacted him to do my 24v motor work. Which is how I have come to be aware of him, I never have met him for record. His wife had posted the ad for side work last winter. So via text I found out about boys and he’s having a tough go. Trying to keep family together etc thru all of this. So I asked if he would mind if we (me & you knuckleheads) would lift him and his family up in prayer. He said he would appreciate that very much. Ian lives in Longmont CO, so if you could pray for his boys and to give him and his wife strength I’d appreciate it. Thanks, I’ll keep you updated as I know more.

A buddy of mine just saved his crew chief from mogadishu who had written the letter and was moments away when he got saved. Yea, we need to be paying attention

Long backstory on this kid...feelings of, "It should have been me, if only I was there to take the shot..." He was told to remain on the ground when his crew with Ray, and Mike Durant took off. A little while later all except for Mike were dead and Mike was a wounded POW...

Don,

The problem that hunted Chris was from a mission in Afghanistan when he had to make a choice over the radio on which Army unit he  direct aid to. The unit he directed aid came out well the one he sent aid to second came out with high number of wounded. He always wonder what would have happen if he switched the units around. Torture him for years.

Yea, its always something like that.
For me it's Jody. Kid just wanted to get into special ops. I made that possible. He later was killed there.
I forgave myself, but it will always sadden me.

And

Mike, how are you doing?

Howdy and holy cow. It has almost been a couple of months since my last post.

A lot has gone on. I basically ran out of options at Mayo in Rochester a couple of months ago so I have been trying to get into a Phase 1 Trial at Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa. Long story short and several brain tumors later I was checked last week to see if the GAMMA Knife Radiation on my previous brain tumors had done the job so I could be eligible for the trial I was attempting to qualify for. Well I have a new one now that is 2mm in size and because it is detectable it makes me ineligible again. You had to wait for 30 days from the Gamma to see if there was any regrowth or new before being considered.

Any brain tumor issues delete you from any trial considerations right now. So back on Chemo. Started that last Wednesday in Tampa. Flew back to MN Sunday and will have to go back to Moffitt on August 12th for the next round. Insurance turned down on one of the Chemo drugs. (Pembro) so I can't get the Chemo in MN. It has to be through Moffitt which my Doc there thinks she can get Merck to provide free. We will see....

So sold my house in MN in May, been living in rental until we saw how this shakes down. Closed on a tiny house in Tampa last Friday and will probably move there mid August so I can be near whatever treatment they come up with and my wife can be near our kids and her folks for support.

Fight is still on trying to manage the pain without going on Narcotics so I can keep my job and keep health insurance.

Thanks for the Prayers!

Father God in heaven above, we declare this disease to be a menace contrived from the devil. He hate it and what it does to your people. Father we have no authority over Mike to claim healing but we ask for your mercy and grace and that you lift this burden from this man. Show him your presence and encourage him and his wife and family. Bring him in close and although we know not your plan for this man, father we cannot believe he became part of this group of mes if you did not intend us to pray outright for his wellness and healing. So, I ask for exactly that. Father, shrink the tumors until they are no longer in his body. Make a path for your instruments, whatever or whoever they may be to meet this mans need.
I ask this humbly in the name of Jesus, Amen.

My future son in law Joey had a accident at work today. A steam pipe burst and he got second degree burns throughout his mid section. He is in a lot of pain. When I first met this young man he had a pill addiction. He has kicked that and has been clean for over 2 years now and recently became floor supervisor at his work place. He has refused any pain meds in fear that he will become addicted again.

Guys,

Could use some prayers. My son fiancé tried to commit suicided last Friday while my son was TDY with the reserves. She did this while my oldest grandson was the only one home (which about 3 years ago he had a close friend commit suicided) so he had to knock the door in so EMS could get to her and watch them do CPR on her. I told the son that I think they should delay the wedding until they get this all straighten out but now I'm a monster. Please ask for comfort for my grandson, the right words for me to say and wisdom for my son and his fiancé.

Thanks
Steve
