Build Threads / Re: 1991 Suburban Build, maybe flip or 6BT?
« on: September 20, 2014, 03:11:29 PM »
Here is the roof which seems to be common for the older GMs.

Pulled the tires and wheels off (sold for $100) and got these new steel wheels for $60 and 33" coopers for $800.

Build Threads / 1991 Suburban Build for a flip. Former 6BT candidate.
« on: September 20, 2014, 03:05:40 PM »
Picked this 1991 Suburban up for $500. Just a 1500 but a cali truck with just some rust on the roof and faded paint.

Been parked for around 8 years, blown rear (gm 8.5) with a 4 inch lift and just 85k miles. Interior is great with a 3rd seat.

I may flip or upgrade to a 6BT (which I have) and get a 2500 with a big block so it will have the gm 10.5 rear and a heavier frame (.194 vs .177)

Ammo & Reloading / Re: How Much ammo?
« on: September 19, 2014, 11:08:08 PM »
You know I have thought about both the 5.45 and PSL just for the ammo cost.

Guess I am OK for pistol, cept 45.

Could go a little more on the hunting rounds for the shotgun, but good on slugs and 00. Same for the AR.

I think SG has 9mm alum case right now for $200/1k, great to practice.

Anyone had any luck on 22lr? I am OK but want to teach the kids without depleting what I have.

Ncstar red/green dot knockoff, 1x works great!! He played with a few scopes and went back to that, likes 62 gr best.

Hi Guys, I sorta started all this over in Tech so we will see how this goes.

We would use drones or radio control aircraft for carrying something here to there. Be it a camera or small payload (F A A and H L S) look down on this so be careful. It was really a big deal 10 years ago and right now they are passing laws to regulate this. You can read about it on the AMA site which is a safey-governing organization in the USA.

No man that owns a gun does not have a 10/22. I sure wish they made it in a 22 WMR.

Dad got me one, I have his Marlin and I got a Henry Jr and a SW 22/15 for my boys and girl.

Nice score Don.

That video was on a heli I was flying and you can see the feedback on the old systems.

I think the first one on the list above will do what you want, but you must supply your own camera. The one from Horizon will have the most support for parts and I have watched them in use.

These quads really fly themselves, you just point it or program it. (HLS has some issue with this stuff) The heli I was flying was a basically a miniature collective pitch heli, all it had was a heading hold gyro, I did the rest.

OK, who has a nice carrier and why do you like it?

I have several panels and plates but all my carriers are for under clothing, I want a "Go" type carrier.

I think this is back on topic.

Ammo & Reloading / How Much ammo?

Well, lets get this area going.

Lets start with how much ammo do have at hand, or how much do you THINK you need to have on hand?

Well guys, Don pulled me into this too.

Although I am not a nerd with all the techie stuff, I understand it and fly RC aircraft (about 45 years)

The camera systems out there can be simple or whatever your pocket can handle.

You can simply take pictures or video and download or do realtime, but the price goes up.

Plus anyone can fly now with the gyro systems out there. If you have seen the new transformer movie, many shots are from a 6 rotor radio control copter. The heli and the cameras are gyro stabilized.

Here are a few links to wet your interest;

Now if this goes you going just open your wallet. Planes will work too, and some are so small you can just throw and catch (it does take practice) and planes tend to be MUCH quieter and can glide.

Nice stuff there Don. I opened up the safety area a little to much on a 300aac build of mine and the JB filled it fine (pistol). Time will tell though.

I understand many of the military M4s use that method for the pins too. Makes sense because pins fall out way to easy.

See you are a Magpul fan too :D

Supposed to get a 16 inch upper tomorrow from Aries. Chambered in Wilde 223, full float 16 inch with m16 BCG (they had the uppers for $399, now 425) Picked up a spare BCG both in phosphate($80) and Nickle Boron ($100)

Pick up my duty G22 next Tuesday but they boned me and only gave me a 10 round mag, can you believe that!!!

Just go with the 5.3 tank and ad items to the rear rack and some saddle-bags. There are also great tank packs that you can hang all kinds of stuff on. Around the waist is not that bad but remember you will be up and down in that seat, comfy or not. Your legs are half the suspension and affect those gyroscopes alot!!

With what they do to gas today, or tomorrow who knows what will hold up.

If you are going to do a cammo wrap just do that. Just get it perforated and it should be fine.

(darn I wrote this at 1400, how did it get down here!)

Order the color you want for that part. Trick is from what I have read i to paint and decal before you put gas in it. You need to use the porus decals.

I have a black tank,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

There all over ebay, both kinds.

13521
Oh ya, I know about the kit and the fix. Know I don't have long in this condition but the fluid loose has stopped with the JB as I did have a hole.

Do you think the plate or the whole new pump plate, and which case? There is both alum and the alloy that is stock, both are around 2 bills.

THX

13522
Looks good, that extra oil and a cooler will pay off for sure.

13523
Yep, I got it at around 95 K. Thought it was the rear seal at first and talked to Nate about.

Since this IS an issue with looks like pre 07 Dmaxs, what repairs have you guys used?

Right now I did the epoxy fix to hold me for a few more weeks and filled her with 5/30 synthetic.

I also plan to ad to the skid plate that stops just past the tcase that may save it once if going forward, but will do no good otherwise.

Looking good Don.

That setup for the carrier works good. I made one just like that about 20 years ago. Front had a rake to hold the front tire, rear did the same but also folded down for loading. I still found I needed a brace in the center for driving around though. Was on my 77 Jimmy lifted 6 inches with 36 inch Mickeys.
