Shawn, I think home maintenance takes lots of time regardless if it is a log cabin or not. Just get it done and be happy you are lucky enough to have it.

Did you have to remove the hour meter wire, or is it rented by the week? You spend way too much time working and not enough time enjoying the surroundings. It all looks really nice :likebutton:

Thats why I'm looking for a 6x12, great size, figure 2-3ft walls. Run a 8in board along the top to save it. Think I can get a 14k an they badge as a 10k. Many states now are adopting this 10k trailer rule unless you have a CDL.
JR, my trailer is a 6x 12. I often wish it was 7 wide as extra foot wide would be good. I use three 2x6 on the top of metal. Really helps with the unsecured load laws. I need to get stake pockets on the end gate for additional height at times.

Bummer on the tire problem. Glad you found it before it came apart and took the wheel well with it when it let go.

I need to tear my system down. My truck says trailer brakes need help. We just finished a trip back to Indiana and the trailer brake controller was talking to me off and on the whole way. I think the problem is the wiring going through the axles is chaffed and causing ground problems. Now that I am home I can get under there and pull new wire and of course check all the brakes too. I don’t buy into repacking bearings once a year like is the common statements from almost all the dealers. Adjust the brakes, check the brakes on a gravel road and call it a day. If the tires all slide a bit in the grave all should be good. Every couple years a complete take down might be in order but every year, I don’t think so

So what Don isn’t saying anything about is the weather. We are currently just north and west of him and it is hot 85-90 degrees. And high humidity. In the winter I am told 0 or colder. I guess if you live here it isn’t too bad but to buy and move here , not so much. Darn nice looking country right now however, green rolling hills with lots of crop fields growing higher each day.

Charles, twin 36 pipes? That is a large runoff ditch. Do you have plenty of depth to get proper cover over them without digging well beyond the site each direction? Or length enough on top to get the needed cover without making a large speed bump

My wife and I are headed to Jasper Indiana with our travel trailer. 3rd day on the road taking I-84, I-80 and then drop down to I-70 around Denver. Spending the night in Evanston Wyoming tonight.
Surprising how many long term people are in the parks now. The good thing is the spots are kept clean, not at all like the street dwellers.

Your prayers about a new home to enjoy and make your own have really been answered. What a beautiful place you guys have Shawn. This Summer you can sit outside at sunset and enjoy the view and all that has been made available to you. Take the time man, and enjoy all that has been made available to you.

70
Problem was you didn’t find it , and it was only a grand. It could have been at least twice that.

Build Threads / Re: 2021 Ram 3500 Crewcab
« on: April 13, 2023, 08:33:41 PM »
When my family and I go west for summer vacations, we always bring a lot of gear. Mountain bikes, kayaks, paddle boards, backpacks, tents and as much food as we can haul. Now that we had a 3500 with substantial payload capability, we could safely load up the truck as well as the toy hauler. In the past, due to payload limitations, the toy hauler would be packed full and the truck bed would be almost empty so as to not exceed payload capacity. So often you will see a 1/2 ton or 3/4 ton truck with a full bed, cab loaded with pax and a trailer with 800-1000lbs of tongue weight. Many pickup owners are unaware of payload capacity and exceed it, placing their family and others at risk.
And the more you load in the rear area of the toy hauler, the less tongue weight you have to worry about. That is the only problem most have with a toy hauler, lots of tongue weight because they don’t have any toys back there.

72
Well Sir I have not done much off road driving, but having a spare while up hunting and driving on 2-4 inch or larger rock I make sure my spare is with me and has proper air pressure. Maybe a smaller wheel tire would get you by but I wouldn’t roll without something.

Second day of burning. I started this project of front yard cleanup last week. Yesterday went better than the first day as the brush was considerably drier. As of this morning that fire is still going strong. Only took 3 gallons of an oil / diesel concoction to get it going good. I cleaned up the drop scraps from the machine shop job site as a base. Consequently, imo this is the best natural whole body workout available. That is pulling ponderosa pine limbs thru slushy / icy snow after getting them to release from the same ground and throwing them on a burn pile for hours on end. Between limbs that are just plain heavy and awkward. Then ending up face down slipping & falling on the ground several times throughout the afternoon I’m feeling it again this morning. #progress

Trip to spokane today to pickup freight skid of kingpin axles so easy day after I run to Libby this morning for banking and a couple supply store stops.

A good fire really helps clean up the place. Living in Western Washington where it rains more often than not during burning season I use a propane torch to get the pile started.

Brad lives in California in Nancy Pelosi’s district.  He was sick of the world, of COVID, of Biden, Russian invasion of Ukraine, Climate Change, forest fires, China , racial tensions, and the rest of the disturbing stores in the media headlines. In short, he was depressed and despondent.
Brad drove his car into his garage and then sealed every doorway and window as best he could. He got back into his car and wound down all the windows, selected his favorite radio station, and started the car. He simply couldn't take it anymore.
Two days later, a worried neighbor peered through his garage window and saw him in the car. She notified the emergency services, and they broke in, pulling Brad from the car. A little sip of water and, surprisingly, he was in perfect condition, but his Tesla had a dead battery.

Yup hot water heat in the floor with larger wood fired boiler sitting outside. Solar with propane fired generator. Get a couple log truck loads of firewood logs. Only need to split larger pieces to cut down the weight and for fire starter stuff. Set the deck up for heat in winter so he can enjoy it year round.
