I put some work on the fifthwheel today,  installed a new awning. Sorry no picture, polished the back lift gate and the corner,

Dang that’s nuts.
They look tiny but dang.

Changed the oil on the 1/2 ton denali for the first time. Had been done at the dealer for the first 4 changes. They offer warranty forever if you use them for all your maintenance.  But I figured the price of the maintenance was more than repairs I’d likely have

Used a Baldwin filter because the amsoil filter wasn’t available and used the signature series 0-20 amsoil. Found the only pieces greasable are the outer tie rods so I hit those and rotated the tires.

Found two tires have splits on the inner sidewall. Looks like I’m in for a new set of tires grrr. Low profile and 22 inch wheels and potholes of an inner blue city don’t mix

Never thought we would ever see a filter shortage, but we are.
Tried finding one for a new V6 dmax a couple months ago. Dealer backorder, Wix backorder, etc. Only ones I found were "performance" ones from AFE. Now I have 5 extra ones.

Update.  I wanted to go +1 size to get more sidewall, but none in stock (305/45/22) so back with OE 285/45/22 in Michelin Defender MS.  Not going to get off road far with them but boy are they smooth.

So $1400 later and during the install the tech calls me back to the balancing machine and shows me a wheel bent to all get out.

Cant say it was the wife but she aint driving the sissy truck any more.

So, ordered an OEM wheel from a place in CA for $475….

Did I mention I hate 22s??, next set of tires are going on a set of 20s so I can get some sidewall

Got 8 new drive tires on the kenworth.  Didn't get what I wanted I had to get what they had. Yokohama, $411 apiece.  Manager says oh by the way if you think you might need trailer tires in the next year better get some now.  So went home with 8 new trailer tires and 4 new high scrub for the tag axles. Hopefully that will last us for a while. I didn't even ask how much the trailer tires were.
Got a hold of my "other" boss on the scrap iron hauling. I am going to finish out my contract and quit. Contract is up in April.  14 hour days really cut into the family time. There are plenty of other trucking jobs out there.

I need four drives on my Mack, just did steers on both the Pete and Mack this summer.  And I think the Pete got new drives on both axles.    Michelins on the Pete and I can’t remember what we put on the Mack but I’ll agree tires are outrageous

Brisket on the smoker. 24lb bird in the brine.

Cut a few sweetgum trees down. Eventually I’d like to eradicate all of them on the property and leave just the pines, oaks, elms, hickory, dogwoods, and cedars

Gonna be tough getting the bird and brisket done at the same time.  And we have to leave to head to sister at 9:30am tomorrow

Morning boys. My favorite holiday is today.

It’s tradition in my family that we all go around the table and state what we are thankful for.

First, I am thankful to the Lord Jesus Christ for my salvation by His choice.  Second I’m thankful for all of you men. This forum allows like minded men to have fun and cathartic discussions that we need to bear the weight of the world and our family duties.

Have a great day. And remember why we have it. The government in England was persecuting Christians who would t adhere to the government endorsed religion. Today we are close to that again with sexual/moral depravity and climate change as the “religion”. If you dare to disagree you are persecuted, ostracized and cut off social media.

Brisket off. Turkey on

Happy turkey day to yous all.

Ours was a month ago nearly.

Anywho,
Yesterday was ice day.
Hard to believe a week ago we were open water.
Yesterday was a waste of my time.
Well over a foot of beautiful blue ice.

It’s been cold here this week…needless to say.
Winter is here. Time to get my stuff runnin’!

^^^ That was a hundred foot tall and steep hill of small gravel that my bud got stuck on when he let off on the gas too soon. His winch just dragged me.
Luckily I keep a yankum rope in the tool box.

Went to a memorial, the site of a military plane crash in 1975. He must've been well liked.
Curious if Don heard of him.

My back went out Thursday afternoon. So we went out yesterday because walking helps. Hit a few stores not much for deals. Got a nice ladder at Home Depot for %50 off. It's a little giant knock off. I got a dash cam for the truck at Best Buy. So many morons on the road. There was another accident the other day. Car slammed on his breaks to turn no blinker. Truck slammed in the back of them. Cain reaction 3 or 4 cars involved all together.
Today we are headed to Omaha for the Creighton blue jays basketball game. I hate Creighton and I'm not much for basketball but the boys got free tickets and $25 in vouchers for the concessions from Scouts for selling $1000 in popcorn. It will be fun for them to go to a collage game.

Don't know him, and a bit before my time. I was a private back then, well before my flying days started (in 1979).

Well, I worked all weekend 5-6 hours each day and I’m down to hanging one last drop hose reel (drill 4 holes & hook up flexible air line to hardline) and attaching a quick disconnect so that I have two ports to hookup blast cabinet up my front overhead door.

Be glad to put shop air system into service again. I didn’t buy any pipe but used every piece of the old system except 1 piece of 1/2” x 18” long. I did have to buy $130 worth of fittings though and cut and threaded a few pieces of 1”. All in all that wasn’t to bad…..
Living in the remote north hoping Ken doesn’t bring H up here any time soon…..

Yes, getting old sucks. Moving is the big thing as you get stiff to easy.

Been running a gopro knockoff as a dash cam. Looking at the garmin stuff now as is shows location and speed and can link to a rear camera too.

Was at a HD this sat and while packing some guy almost backed into me as he to park right now even though I was halfway out still with a trailer.

November 21 2021 our lake was still open water.
In fact a couple guys were still in the boat on the 17th working at one of the cabins.
November 25, 2021 I walked across half way with a buddy.

We didn’t drill not one hole.

Beautiful blue ice.
At least a foot of it by the cracks we could see.

November 27th back at mamas happy place.

Oops. At least nothing got in.

Trail marked.

Ken, the auroras are amazing.
This time of year is the best, and then again March (When it's not forty below).
I can dig some up if you want.

Here’s an oldie circa 2017.

And one that was a rather balmy -45 plus wind.
Hudson Bay Quest 2015 or 2016. Do t remember the year. Remember the cold.

I joined the orange tractor club this afternoon.  this is not one of the monsters that don just bought or the mid size ones like TRN, JR, Jon, and bob have.

this is a little BX2680 4x4.

it will get the following
- front end loader, 48" bucket with quick connect
- 3rd valve
- pto driven snow blower with hydraulic controls
- 50" pto driven tiller. the tiller is on back order
- this one has the turf tires on it which is fine by me as I will not be tearing up my yard with the ag or industrial hybrid tires.

items that will have to be sourced
- front hydraulic auger will be sourced later in the spring/summer
- ballast box for the rear
- 3 point adjustable quick hitch

I did not get a mid mount mower for it because I am not getting rid of my toro zero turn. this little thing is purely for yard chores like tilling the garden, moving snow, moving soils and mulch in the spring time.

Nice choice Nate. The auger should go on the back right?

Now having said that. I need a picture of your oversized self on that small tractor.

Kids today don't know how easy they have it. When I was young, I had to walk 9 feet through shag carpet to change the TV channel.

That will be a good little tractor for you Nate.

We have been in debate what breed of dog to get. Wife really wants a lab. I have had a lab before. Great dogs I am not opposed to a lab. But I am trying to convince her to go with a blue tick coon hound. They are also good family dogs and we have plenty of acres for it run. Not getting anything until spring so the debate will go on.

I joined the orange tractor club this afternoon.  this is not one of the monsters that don just bought or the mid size ones like TRN, JR, Jon, and bob have.

this is a little BX2680 4x4.

- 3rd valve
- pto driven snow blower with hydraulic controls

Nate, does that thing have enough hydraulics to run an auger?
Front mount (Didn't know such a thing existed) is smart. It's all about down pressure, but after that it's all about the twist (Hydraulic power, i.e. flow in GPM. Make sure you're sized right on the attachments. That's a little tractor with not so big pumps to be pushing very many attachments.
Other than that, welcome to the club.
