You ever go to work, and find yourself installing a saddle holster, in a Ranger, for a 45/70 , instead of working? No? Hmm

So preliminary blanket statement here. Nate is a horrible influence........  at least for my waist!

This place is open from 8am to 2pm so brunch everyday. Its called the Denver Biscuit Co and as I told Nate if you can get past the hipsters running about it is amazing. Coffee is self serve leaded or unleaded.

She ordered the Franklin and I ordered the Cordon Bleu, both came with an optional egg on top which we had served over medium. The sweet potatoe fries with sausage gravy were the best we've ever had hands down. Definitely a fork and knife meal and guessing 1500 calories........

& just for the record Bobby, it's your type of place with this on tap.

Sure would, just give me a heads up so I fast for a day prior!

Not sure if I told you but my wife’s work is right in that area so maybe we could all meet for brunch if we planned ahead.

If I were headed into the bush, and a short barreled Benelli M4 wasn’t an option. I think I’d be ok with one of the 18.5” 45-70 Marlins worked over by Superior firearms. They’re in Louisville Chief.

Ended up quoted in the Local Democratic News paper......http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/breaking/ct-met-arming-teachers-20180222-story.html

Had to fight to get the reporter to return to the quote we'd agreed upon after her editor tried to milk toast it beyond the already softened version I'd OK'd.  I gave her credit for doing what she did, given the Alt Left BS they usually print.  I refrained from informing her that I was our previous Union President - had I know they were quoting the two Socialist Leaders of the National Unions, I'd have put that in there too!  When I get a chance, I'll post my actual typed replies to their submitted questions - I typed them and used work email so that there was hard evidence on what I actually said.

Pasted email exchange below:

On Thu, Feb 22, 2018 at 3:08 PM, Ortiz Healy, Vikki wrote:

Sounds good. Here you go:

How do you feel about the idea of teachers being armed to protect students from school violence?

This is simple, yet complicated question.  YES, I think that certain school employees/teachers should be armed ONLY IF they are qualified.  A concealed carry permit holder, is licensed by the State to do so in all areas of Illinois and multiple other states in what are referred to as "permitted" areas - Schools are one of several where it's not allowed.  That's one of the first requirements that I feel would be necessary for a School Employee to be eligible, followed by specific training in close quarter combat qualification through a state or Federal body such as the Military, FBI where the individual is drilled in "shoot - don't shoot" scenarios and passes practical competency drills.  The area where local Districts will balk at the idea is partially political and partially a liability issue - that's where this concept will die in Illinois.

Can you explain what brought you to this viewpoint?

Schools are well known as "Soft Targets" since almost universally, the possession of a gun on Public School property is illegal, except for Law Enforcement personnel.  How do you change that fact?  Change those rules to allow certain employees, unknown to the public to change the dynamic.  Criminals generally don't break into a when someone is home, due to the unknown element of the owner being armed - the same would then extend to schools.  I believe that there are some schools in Texas, with actual warning signs that employees are armed and will respond with deadly force if warranted.  Another factor that supports this viewpoint is that a few years ago, at one of our Institute Days, local law enforcement presenters came and spoke to the faculty regarding active shooter situations.  They basically stated that statistically, they would not be here in time to stop the shooter for a few reasons.  These are planned acts of opportunity that are fairly short in duration and usually those who perpetrate these crimes, take their own lives when confronted by armed resistance; they said that they would be here in time to clean-up and investigate the crime.  CLEARLY they were not implying their unwillingness to intervene or place their lives on the line to protect others, rather speaking to the reality of statistical data.  So that leaves individuals who are "on site" to do whatever they can to stop the threat and save the lives of their students.  We are fortunate to have an armed Police Liaison Officer on site, but they cannot be everywhere and their are days they are not on site due to other duties.

Do you ever use a gun, or do you have one?

I'll leave that unanswered

What do you think people who are strongly against the idea of teachers being armed are not seeing?

Several things that I've mentioned above.  There's also the myth that one can give up personal liberty/responsibility in the name of safety; in the words of Benjamin Franklin they deserve neither.  Reliance upon someone else to swoop in and protect you on a daily basis isn't practical; we ultimately are responsible to position ourselves and our families by taking actions needed to mitigate unnecessary risk - leave your doors unlocked and act surprised that you've been robbed and you're a fool.  Evil exists in the world; always has and always will.

This would be a good start. And then if you could just let me know what your title is and how old you are, that’d be great!

I'm a classroom teacher in the District for 32 years.

Thank you so much. I’ll type your responses into paragraphs and run them past you before I include in story.

That’s a good time right there Nate. I grew up spending most Tuesdays at the Ozark’s Regional Stockyard in southern Missouri.

Wife and I spent all night Friday fighting a stomach bug. Thankfully the in laws were here to help with the baby. I don’t know what we would’ve done without them. I also ordered a new AIWB holster from tier1concement. Gonna give appendix carry another attempt with a S&W Shield. My last attempt with a full size FNP didn’t go well.

That bldg is about 50ish yrs old and the arch's looked as though they were made out of sream formed laminated wood.

We had the much anticipated pack 165 pinewood derby. My nephew took first place in the wolf den. Zane didnt do too bad. They ran each car 6 times. 2 wins 3 second place and one 3rd but his times were not good enough to place.

I got first place in the outlaw class. Second place was also one of the the parents.

The kid with long hair is my nephew. The other is Zane. He painted his car and sanded it all by himself. They dont look like it in the picture but they are both really happy!

Took the wife to Top fuel drags and watched John Force grenade his funny car, and tangled up in the chutes of the other car. Quite a show. They broke speed records yesterday, and today was a peddle fest.

Well, lets try this. I used an online compressor. About as big as a good picture now.

This was on a borrowed track. The black thing is the starting peg.

Ken,

Was this at the track on the south east side of Phoenix? Drove by there at 0700 when it was empty and again at 1400 when it was jam packed full. Didn’t know what kind of fun was going on over there.

Jeep jk started puking oil, so since I don’t have time but do have ability to write a check it was dropped off at mechanic. I know I suck. Anyhow, I think either the intake is leaking at back of motor or drivers side valve cover at rear. Drivers side back of block is wet all the way down and around starter. This leak started very small a couple month back leaving a drop here or there on occasion (dime size drop). As of this morning it started leaving silver dollar size puddles after driving and sitting for ten minutes. So there’s that, and picked up steel for front bumper on the xj. May start cutting, drilling and forming parts for it tomorrow if I get time in between other jobs.

We we in the Puerto Morales area.
South of Cancun, north of Playa del Carmen.

If you're looking at cruise stops, Cozumel, and Playa are good.
I haven't spent much/any time at any of the other stops.

Yeah, so mechanic is fixing couple leaks (stuff I dislike doing) & I completed a couple jobs today & in between I was able to cut & drill mounts for the xj front winch bumper. Stocker front bumper and mounts got pulled as well. Tomorrow in the morning I’ll start tacking items in place on new bumper then meetings in afternoon.

Kids today don't know how easy they have it. When I was young, I had to walk 9 feet through shag carpet to change the TV channel.

Garth may put on a good concert, but he’s one of the more OVER rated country singers I’ve heard - Billy Ray Cyrus comes to mind as being as good; maybe a shade better.  Being a Democrat doesn’t help him any either!

Garth's music is OK.  He puts on a great show.  Much different criteria.

I'm more of a Trace Atkins, Toby Keith fan myself

I was told I had to get tickets for this event from the HH6.  It was not optional
