What kind of idiot schedules a Doctor's appointment on a federal hoilday when you could stay home?

Me that is wbo. In place of doing something productive around the house I get to drive 80 miles one way to see a doctor for 15 minutes.

Was supposed to be a Boy Scout meeting tonight but nobody showed up. Basketball tournament today. So Zane learned how to pack bearings and mount new tires. He even torqued the lug nuts by himself. Pretty good for 11 year old. Troop trailer is ready to hit the road again.

Forgot to say on Friday got approval from the city for Brett's 5 K. Krysten is so on her game to remember her brother with these runs. This year she is even more in, she had signed up to do an Ironman but ended up getting a stress fracture in her hip so she had to drop out. She amazes me everytime.

Shawn, probably probably a Hino or Isuzu dump truck. I've watched tons of those videos. They'll weld a square plate over a windowed block, retread a 48" tire, and rebuild batteries (just about anything needed done.)
Really hate to make fun of them. They're pretty darn resourceful.

Definitely resourceful, we did temporary stuff in steel shop with equipment to get us by on occasion too. It just wasn’t a permanent fix if you get my drift. So I’m wondering how long it will last for the amount of effort they put into it is all.

Redoing the battery box in my camper. Forget trying to source things locally. Oh you need some 4/0 welding cable? Ok You have to buy 50 ft at a time. Cable ends $2.50 online. I should have ordered them because I drove to five stores in two different towns to get what I needed. One store they were $5 another store they were $8. For the exact same thing.
My Chinese hydraulic crimper seems to be working pretty well. I'll have more on this little project later. This is what the battery box looked like before.
Had to buy a new trouble light. I really kind of like this thing. It better be good for $80.

Jon,  Next time, you might take a look at Wire And Cable Your Way on the web.  I’ve used them for a few things and they are generally cost competitive, sell by the foot and ship fast.

That is where I ended up getting my cable. I asked the owner of the local napa store if he carried tinned copper 4/0 ends and he said yes. So, I said fine I will get my cable online because I don't need 50 ft and come back for ends. Turns out he didn't really have them. All he had was a hand full of 3/0 full copper.

Sometimes it makes you wonder if they are even trying to keep your business anymore.  I went into my local weld supply store to pick up a 44 lb roll of weld wire. I think they wanted $180 bucks for the standard stuff, add sales tax and then almost $20 hazmat fee and I was well over $200. I inquired on the hazmat fee. I don't pay an additional hazmat fee for powder or primers at the reloading store nor do I have to pay a hazmat fee to have a roll of wire delivered to my doorstep. I left the wire there and purchased the same roll of wire for $120 shipped to my door for free from a weld supply outfit. Same sort of story for any consumables or parts.  They never have them in stock and will take them a week+ to order them in.

I hear you Bear. HF is getting that way too. Been there twice in the last couple weeks. Order this, order that and wait? I said I will just get it online if I have to wait with you. I wanted a roll around tool dolly/chest. Great price but wait until June to get it? Got similar at HD, had to ship, but just 2 days.

Hazmat at a welding shop for wire???? Thats a first. I have some cheap stuff I haven't used yet, hear the the Hobart stuff is the way to go.

Air gas started that hazmat chit over a year ago. I don’t play that game, they know they wave it or I go elsewhere. I keep my stuff in stock and plan ahead.

Btw, I’ve been buying 44# of er70s welding wire from Amazon for $97 for awhile now. I buy the grinding wheels and flap discs online too in bulk.

Edit: just looked $106 and some change with tax delivered.

I know I owned a Miller 250 once...was a great machine. Sold, then years later purchased a 212 which I still use today. 250 will not disappoint IMHO

Get ya 3/4 steel with easy and reliability via trying with a smaller unit.

My 220 doesn’t get hot enough to waste my time on trying with equipment fixes.  Need more power!!
