This looks interesting and is 14.5 wide vs 11-12 of most others.

I am leaning towards the holes, say 3 per section. Issue is still the vent material above it as it is designed for cutting a 4in or so slot in the ridge. Then they seal outside that with the cap over that.

So lets say 3-4 holes in each section. Puts the width to seal around 10 inches to be safe. That does not to sound crazy but most venting is made for that narrow center ridge. I was thinking of mesh that I can use wider and found something called smartvent; https://dciproducts.com/smartvent-off-peak-firewall/

So I have some options but need to look more.

I would do the holes up top JR. Fairly simple, efficient, and no fan needed.

Not sure, the ridge beam is 6in wide.  Small holes may work but I would need a 16in+ cap to cover both sides.

I think in the long run keeping the roof as is will be the best route and using a solar fan to pull air out is an option I thought of.

There will be quite a bit of space for the air to be pulled through, just have to get it out somewhere.

Sprayfoam for an r30 would be pricey and I still need to address the venting.

Guess it has the 9.5 rear, not a bad option really. Mileage reports will be nice after a little break in.

I guess that is the Denalli as I don't see a Z71 on the rear, or is that on the door now?

Specs?

Nope, can't do that with this structure. The OSB is nailed to the beam in shear as part of the structure. A few holes are fine noted with 2 vents I have up there now for the open structure.

I think my only real option is a forced vent system either pushing the air down next to the beam or drilling a hole in the 2x10 on each rafter. However as seen by the pic I already have a notch on the bottom and
plan on leaving a gap there since the beam drops about 2 inches below the rafter. It would have to have a fan to work correct pulling the air out of the 2 roof vents now.

Jared, I have a venting problem in my upstairs main room. It has a versalam (16x6) ridge and 2x10 on 16c. I am going to insulate this with roxul 30 which leaves a 3in space up top I need to vent.

I was thinking about leaving a little space next to the beam so when I sheetrock I can pull the air out the bottom with a small fan pulling the air down and over/out.

Other idea is to drill a hole in each rafter near the top to pull the air across still using a fan to move the air.

So any ideas would be great!!

As good as the insulation is working. I ordered another 350sf for the rest of the main room upstairs. Summer is here and it is hot up there!

The main room will get this roxul 30/16 and the storage areas will get 2 inch rigid foam and vapor barrier.

Need to ask Jared about venting since the room has no room for regular vents.

Last week at HD. Was just 350 and they knocked 25 off for a ding in the back. HVAC guy did the top for 30.

Was 24 inch deep which is hard to find so when I found this I jumped on it.

Well, with the room done this is back on the table. Still a few thing to clean up and other home projects, but nothing like a 2nd story!

Near the end of the above picture the adapted fell and mucked up the TBI some, plus I never got the screw to loosen up. Ended up getting another TBI unit.

I am transferring the mill to a new drawered cabinet that fits better and allows access to the tooling vs the cabinet I have now. It is also wider allowing better protection for the mill.

I am pretty happy with the H1 wheels cept the wieght. I kinda like the idea of steel as they can be straightened out if need be, alum just breaks!

Mine cleaned up nice and the beadlocks seem to function well. They look to be the thick horse matting and cut to fit the rim is all. I few screws with sheet metal holds the shape. Maybe an product idea vs plastic or mag stuff. I did get these from a local off road guy but have not heard of them otherwise.

Yep, it was around $50 and took around 20 minutes to cut. Needs a little more but is pretty close.

I used to get oversize and put weighted bottles around the edge which was not bad. But everytime the wind blew it was a chore so going this way now. Still have to get the solar going too. Pump seized and I got a hole in a panel when building the room. Will see how the AC works as 90+ is predicted for monday.

Sold the saw on CL for asking after posting last night. Paid for 1/2 the new saw!

Hope the 6.2 are better than the 5.3 for mileage. I normally got 11-12 and once 16 on the highway! ONCE,,,,,,,,

Iron block 5.3, tune it a little and save some $$$. 20+ on the highway and you have cheap gas there anyway!

I think the Z71 should be lower. I mean a demo Z71 for just a little less than a new Denalli? Plus a smaller engine and you do want a DD right?

Even the 5.3 have like 350hp and a mild tune would always help that. You aren't buying it to tow withe bus around. Heck a dodge is 40k new, tell them that!!

Picked up a new Kolbalt Double compound miter saw, to replace my single miter. Stayed with the 10in, cuts almost everything and I have good blades for it. I also got tired of flipping boards for diff cuts and the motor seemed to get in the way all time, this ones up on top vs DD.

Got 15% off when they gave me the standard 5 and I asked for the 10 and kept both! Little under $200 and selling the single will offset that alot.

Most of the wall now framed. Hoist came in handy getting the saw upstairs.

Hey, you guys notice Lowes is now selling Craftsman?? They bought Orchard which got them the line.

Sean we are playing with vacation transport also. Going on a cruise in mid July and flying into LAX. Have a friend who will get us to Sac and back but transfer to LAX and the Long Beach are $25 each both ways (x5 is more than airline fair). We might just try uber, only a 10 mile

Looking good and never to much storage!

Something hit me with the windows though. Couldn't someone just break a window and get in? Maybe add a bar or cover that with the bars you have to block or close it off, out of site, out of mind you know.

But then again if your on site all the time as you plan on, no biggie.

Its 25in across, about 10 tall and 8 deep. 9500 btu cooling and 7000 btu heating.

Sure they make smaller ones. I was quoted 2K for a misti unit of the same size, wholesale!

Now I am framing up the little hallway and 1/2 bath. It will include a closet on the right at the top of the stairs and a barn door to the main dad room.

The plans changed a little from the ones posted earlier and I licked the wall out a few inches and moved the sink to the other side and a cubby for the toilet. I will see what I can draw up.

With the room done it was time for the HVAC to get hooked up. Last of the hook ups went just fine, ending up not needing 110ac at the head unit so I capped off the lead but will still us it to run the system. Had a buddy come by with his pump and meter and it took about 15min with a vacuum check.

Fired it up with the remote and it is quiet as can be in either heat or AC mode. Has full manual or auto controls on the remote, no controls on the head. The unit shows the temp setting on it face and the vent open closes per the operation, very nice.

This unit was $550 on ebay and worth every penny if it lasts at all. I really like the split system and the garage will be next!

7338
Adding a little to this, the vacuum and nailer are working great. If I was to add another nailer I see Hitachi has a cordless framing nailer that works like the Senco.

The Hitachi is #NR1890 and is 18v lithium cordless like the senco, IE; no cartridge just battery. It is still $399 but they have 10% off right now at Lowes.

If I needed one I would go for it but I use screws for almost everything. Now figure someplace like the farm this would be great for! Reviews seem good;https://youtu.be/uRYrLlv_f68

The Z71 should have a firmer ride, don't go soft on us! I too think a gasser for a DD would be a good idea.

With the room done, been working on the garage again. Can almost walk around it again.

Bought another roller cabinet for the mill. Got another Husky that is 24" deep. Other 24s were over 1k and this was just $350. Original was to narrow at 32" and this is 46". 36-42 would have been perfect.

Any victims with all the trip to the farm?
