Well, haven't had it back on the water because of weather and life getting in the way. We do enjoy the boat, it just shouldn't be having problems like these.

Well since Lake Mohave, Lake Mead, and Havasu all have infestations of Quagga mussels our boating is going to be a pain when we head back home next spring from AZ. Will need to have an inspection and hot water power wash of the boat and trailer by Arizona Fish and Wildlife. The inspection includes the boat, trailer, all the fishing gear, life jackets, boots, fish boxes, live wells, wash down pumps and hoses, thru hull fittings, ropes, and anything else that was in or near the water. I should miss the California inspection stations with a bit of luck, but when I get to the Oregon boarder another inspection at the very least, and they could even take the boat away for a week in quarantine and  another power washing before I can pass through their State. I don't want to infest any lakes with the darn mussels, but reading up on the fresh water quagga mussels, they don't do well at all in a salt water environment, or left out of the water for a few weeks.

Well Nate, my wife really thinks it is a good idea. So other than a extra night each direction( 55 mph towing in California) and now the inspections and power washing, all is good.

Took the boat out on Lake Mohave and really enjoyed the day. The engine pod was dry when I took out the drain plug after the day on the water. The sealing of the inspection plate must have taken care of that problem.
After looking more for the water in the bilge problem, I found a thru hull fitting, just above water line, that  didn't have anything attached to it. Contacted the boat dealer, found out how to get into the area,  found the drain hose from a storage bin in the bow area wasn't attached to the thru hull fitting. The hose was just laying next to the fitting. Need to pick up a stainless hose clamp, and attach the hose. Hopefully this will take care of the problems I am having with water intrusion. Everything else is working great, very happy and ready to start doing some fishing for the striper bass.

Weird, leaving a drain line not attached, good thing you found it.

Well I was looking for where the water was entering and hopefully found it. When the wind stops blowing, we will take it out again and see.

Didn't forget Shawn, not even a bite so far. I am getting stuff together for the privacy curtain  around the porta potty. Tried to get a place to make a rail, but gave up on him calling so will be using 3/4 copper pipe and fittings and doing it myself. Looking on line at claw foot tub D shaped rods, I think mounting each end and a center brass will do it.

Well brought the boat home from the marina today. Left it in the water for a month or so and really unhappy. Everything at and below waterline is covered with smelly slimy green growth. Spent the afternoon with a power washer and got most of it off. Now everything at and below waterline is dark gray blotchy color. Owners manual says normal to darken and best to just leave it dark gray. Do not use acid or other harsh cleaners on the aluminum hull. My glass boat got slimy too but washed up and looked good after. They say to paint it with bottom paint if the dark color bothers you. The paint would help with growth but will leave it natural for now.

I got tired of scraping barnacles off the little 12 footer, so I've been researching anti-fouling paint. https://www.westmarine.com/WestAdvisor/DIY-Bottom-Painting really good information there. For aluminum make sure you don't have a copper based paint or you wind up with that nasty galvanic corrosion. the trilux33 is the most expensive but also seems to have the best reviews. I'll let you know what I come up with and hopefully document the process.

JR I have a slip in the salt now, downtown Port Orchard not too far from the house and lots of nice areas close by for cruising around.
Tate thanks for the link, I know aluminum and most other metals don't play well together with salt water involved in the mix. I think for now I would rather spend an afternoon power washing than start using bottom paint. Of course this is only the first time so that thought might change.

We had a lift for our Almar when I was marine patrol. Pretty common in tepid water.

Picked up a slip in the local marina today. Felt really lucky to get one. A 30ft. Slip in Jarrell Cove here on the island. Yah I know, winter costs the same as Summer but at least I have a spot whenever I want to use it. Better than putting in and taking out every time tou want to use the boat.

Yeah, nice to leave it in if you use it enough. Is it still like $10 a ft?

So will you leave it in? We used a lift for our boats when I worked.

Congrats Bob.  That was my criteria when my wife said she wanted a boat.  When I can walk to the edge of my property and hit a switch and drop it in the water, we’d get one.  And we did for 5 years until we sold the place.  Wish I still had it

Yes between 8-10 a ft. Slip length not boat length. I don’t want the engine sitting out past the slip so rented a 30 ft site for mine.
Use, well I will use it more when moored than having to take it to the ramp. So for me a slip is worth having.
