How about using a drop down, folding stair like you have for attic access in a house? You would only lose a bit of floor space on the second floor, then.

LOL! Nice! Did the "kid" at least pay you in person, or did he shamefully hand it to your pal at the gunshop to deliver?

This looks like a fun project. I've got a 64 IH Scout 80 that has some interesting rust repair on the rockers. Original owner cut out the rust, put in chicken wire and fiberglass, and covered that with a sheet metal panel riveted to the body on either side. LOL.

sole source of experience is playing Call of Duty.
But what if you play on the hardest setting? I mean limited ammo and smarter A.I. bruh!!
And you happen to run outta snacks mid mission and it hasn't auto saved!
LOL! I guess if you can survive the spawn point snipers, you're pretty skilled. I'll give them that. I still have a hard time listening to 400lbs gun-store-ninjas with cheeto dust on their shirt fronts thinking they are tactical just because 5.11 sells pants in XXXXL. :D

Dang that woman is a keeper! (Not that you need me to tell you that! :) ) x2! I am digging this ridge runner build! Sounds like a lot of fun, and like it will be even more fun when complete/re-powered!

Another point in CQB that you don't see often in Hollywood, is your weapon and eyes are locked together. You don't turn your head away from the axis of your bore, they move in concert so that a snap shot is quick. Basically, where you look is where your weapon points. Weapon only points down when friendlies cross in front of you.

If I'm not comfortable with a neighborhood/area, I feel naked without a firearm. Most of the time I carry, unless I'm going out to have a few adult beverages. The big thing, for me, is to maintain situational awareness. Pay attention to what is going on around you, and if your gut tells you something's not right, listen to it. Remember, you mind is the true weapon, everything else is a tool. I am never without a good pocket knife, however.

Norm,
Just discovered this thread, and am loving it! Nothing worse than gun store "experts". LOL! I've heard more idiotic BS out of the "kids" who hang out in gun stores...it's almost as bad as some of the "internet experts" out there, who's sole source of experience is playing Call of Duty. I am really looking forward to hearing about this kid's comeuppance!

I use an app called PDF Maps by Avenza Systems. Through this app you can download USGS Maps for free, and it gives you several grid options to include MGRS. There are also a lot of maps available for purchase. It does not give you a "track" or display speed, altitude, etc. but it does give you a real time location. And it's cheap! I've been using it for years, and one of my good friends has a company, CartoTraks, which makes off road trail maps of public areas (hiking and 4x4), and off road parks for a small fee. Great company (just him and his wife)!

Our cat often decides he like the largest dog's kennel. He'll just go in there and make himself at home, big dog won't go in there unless I tell him to several times. This cat is de-clawed, but still rules the roost. We've got three dogs, and three cats. The cats are in charge, and the largest actually keeps the dogs in line. When they start screwing up, he often times straightens them out before the wife or I can. He's like our little 1SG (well, 18lbs isn't exactly little, but still).

I guess I always thought the purpose of the QD would be to get it off quickly in the event you broke your optic and were in a bad situation and needed to keep shooting. In that scenario I could care less about return to zero. I don't see myself spending more than I did for the gun to put an optic on it and then taking it off to shoot with the irons, unless Someone was shooting back at me and the glass was shattered or something. But I have no formal training so maybe I'm missing something?

That's pretty much right on for most folks. The only time you would use it regularly is if you had multiple optics systems for that single weapon system. For instance, separate day and night specific optics. Some weapons storage racks do not accept certain optics, either. For instance, the M16 racks in my arms vault would not work with the CCO or ACOG mounted in the most common positions on an M4. So, to store the weapons, they had to be removed. My Soldiers all marked their optics positions with a white paint pen line from the optic mount to the receiver, so they could quickly line them up with their zeroed position. The thumbscrews on the mount also had a paint pen line on the screw and mount that lined up when tightened appropriately, to ensure that the conditions from zero were repeated. We had no issues with loss of zero doing this, but were only shooting out to 300m generally.

Well, I guess I'm getting a little crusty. LOL! When I was teaching my college ROTC leadership block, I'd give my Cadets extra credit if they could research and brief the class on that FM. :)

On the FM reference
That would be the unofficial Wall-to-Wall counseling FM.
My PSGs favorite FM. Glad to know that it is still at least recognized by the NCO Corps, if not in regular use. ;D

Oh, and this is the T-I-double-Gurr-Err thread, not the SDGF! (Square D Gossip Forum)
My apologies, sir. I was under the impression that RMT&S was the SDGF. I hereby stand corrected, and am the position of attention awaiting a proper dressing down or the application of the principles outlined in FM 22-102.

Don, man if ya want a VE motor I can drive my daily driver down there to your fine abode. Pull the engine, put it in your truck, put your P pump in my truck and drive home. Likely a weekend trip no sweat :D
Bet we'd even have time to poke some holes in some paper with my .270 I just finished.
Norm, Sounds to me like you may just have to make that trip, if for no other reason than to save SD from disintegration do to dust contamination and neglect! ;)

It took 3 weeks to get mine. I called after 2 weeks, and they said I was in line, and coming up next. I went with standard cowhide because it comes black. ...love the holster, but realized that it's taking the "paint" off the 1911 fairly quick. I guess the kydex's pressure points are tighter than the old uncle mikes standard plastic edition because it didn't leave a scratch after carrying on multiple hunting trips. I took a heat gun to the kydex to lighten the grip, but it's still leaving marks.
If it's the supertuck, it might be your belt more than the kydex. Tension on those comes from how tight your belt is. I haven't any more holster wear on my 1911s using the supertuck versus my kydex OWB holsters. Curious.

Congrats on the purchase. I'm a fan of Crossbreed holsters. I've got a supertuck for my 1911s and a IWB double mag pouch as well. Great product, and really comfortable. For OWB I use a Blackhawk CQC, but that's just me.

OK, so I started on Square D today. Then immediately my neighbor came over and borrowed the battery charger sitting on it, so I stopped working on it!
It's a sad state of affairs when a battery charger is required for fluid change work. ;)

I think it's official SQ D must have rusted or fallen apart & is absolutely destroyed at this point....... :'(
Any day now, a sufficient gust of air will blow the dust off of her, causing BD to discover that SDs only structural integrity (due to neglect) was said dust, as she disintegrates into a large pile of particles on the garage floor.

You guys don't know the story, because I didn't share it, but Ranger took out a neighbors dog. Similar incident happened to my parents a few years back. It was a warm day, so they had the front door open with only the storm door to combat the elements. Their dog, Cervesa, was chilling out in the entryway, observing the front yard through the glass door. Well, the neighbor's cat came by and started trying to attack Cervesa through the door. She took offense to that, hopped up, and hit the door latch with her paw, opening the door. Cervesa took one step out, the cat lunged, Cervesa chomped, and the feline ended up with crushed neck. Cervesa was a collie mix-mutt. My parents tried to locate the owner of the cat to let them know, but no one came forward. A month later they got a visit from Animal Control. They explained the situation to the AC folks, and they had no issue. Didn't find out who the cat owner was until a month later at the next HOA meeting, where a petition was filed to have my folks get rid of their "evil, vicious, dog". They told the cat owner to pound sand. The cat owners threatened to sue. My folks said, go for it! Drama went on for a few more months and ended when the cat owners moved away because they felt the neighborhood was not safe for their children. SMH. Sheeple.

Russia declassified some KGB files in the mid '90s that showed how one of the greatest of their successes against us was starting the protest movement against the Viet Nam war in the '60s. The core professors who were behind the hippie movement were trained by undercover KGB operatives, and were brainwashed so successfully that their influence spread like wildfire. The students they influenced became teachers, college professors, and politicians. And, so, the cycle has continued.

They look cool, and are pretty quick, but I heard their range sucks. Only something like 150-200 miles before you have to recharge for 8 hrs. Not an issue really for city dwellers, but it is not something you could go on a road trip with.
