I saw that the first time when Chevy came out with 9 info-mercials about their new Duramax truck. They tested the D-Max against a Dodge and a Ford. When they did the frame twist-testing that time, believe it or not the tailgate buckled, as in folded in on itself and was unusable thereafter! I think when Chevy measured it the D-max frame was deflection 1-8", the Dodge a 1/4" and the Ford way more.

Was off on the measurements

Chevy twisted 1/4"   Ford twisted 1.1" and destroyed the tailgate during the test!

I remember when it was a good thing to have flex, when off-roading. Now everyone wants super stiff for street manners! My old 73 gmc 3/4 went some places that jeeps had issues with, because of wheelbase and how much it flexed it's frame. Never bent a tailgate tho. lol
