This house is protected by the Good Lord and a Gun.  You might get to meet them both if you come in unwelcomed.

Great write-up. Hopefully lots of people follow this advice.  Unfortunately many won't.  Bad things happen but don't volunteer for it.

Whatever you do, don't write "Logged" on the duty log under actions taken.  Hope you have an uneventful night.

Cook the egg on a rock heated in the fire as the potato cooks.  Then you don't lose any of it.

They will surround themselves with police and military personnel for security and issue orders to ensure there own comfort while limiting/eliminating your freedoms in the process.  All in the name of "providing for our welfare."  I know I am preaching to the choir but I had to rant.

D.O.T. / Re: Real Courage
« on: June 03, 2015, 03:14:00 PM »
It is pitiful that we as society glamorize celebrity.  The immorality that we allow ourselves to be subject to, no as a society, crave, is the foot on the accelerator to ruin and damnation.   The identification of this confused, misguided, mistaken, individual as a hero should shame us as a society and cause the nation to question our values.  If this society wasn’t founded on Christian values, as some now claim, why is it a crime to commit murder or steal? Why is it not a behavior to be tolerated?  Killing someone is against the 10 Commandments and defiantly violates what Jesus said was the most important commandment, "Love your Neighbor as yourself,"  but it is encouraged in the muslim holy book.  Homosexuals are to be killed according to that book.  Don’t forget about man love Thursday like Don pointed out.  That is ignored. Why am I required to tolerate them, (lbgt, muslim, ect), and their actions but my Christian values and opinions are not to be tolerated?

Where is our national sense of Patriotism?  We are in the midst of Police bashing and harassment.  What about the firemen and other first responders?  These are the people that run to the sound of the guns in the civilian world.  I don’t think they should be worshiped rather respected.  That is courage.  That is love of country.  That is putting others first.  That is what heroes do.  That is what we are all called to do.  Love others as ourselves.

This sense of community, putting others first, even service, is lost on the majority of the population due to the breakdown of families and ever increasing selfishness.

I have had the honor of serving with some of America’s finest in some rough spots around the world.  I have served with heroes.  Both those awarded for courage under fire and those who weren’t.

Heroes aren’t people who do what they are asked to do.  They are people who do the hard, right thing no matter the circumstances.  No matter who is watching.  They put others first.  No matter what.  No matter the cost.

I have and will continue to raise my sons and lead my wife as we seek to glorify God.  This nation needs God.  The silent majority needs to make noise.  Pray for our leaders, society as a whole and our neighbors.  All politics are local.  We can make a difference but the most important thing is to seek his will and be obedient.

I am not any more qualified to call someone a national hero than the next guy but I know what a hero is and is not.

Might also want to get a rescue 8 instead of the regular figure 8.  The wings on it allow you to take a wrap and work hands free or provide additional braking with a heavy load.  Like doing a buddy/casualty repel for instance.

This is a link the army mountaineering manual.  Some good chapters there for another reference.  Like Bobby said use your legs.  An instructor I had once at Sapper school told us arms are for balance and legs are for climbing.  Good footgear is important.  The harder the sole=less traction on the climb.
