Stay tuned!
How long we gotta wait?
I hope it's not as long as it took you to get ready for prom.

Ken Ken Ken, I'm getting visuals of you and "H" on your prom night ridding in the square body bench seat truck.  I sure it was cozy!

Friday I will announce.

Im pretty sure most of you have never split lanes in LA traffic, real men do that going 90mph.  You become really good at reading/predicting stupid drivers.

Oh the joys of thinking you are invincible!

I stopped commuting on bikes in LA after I was almost killed 5ea times in one week.  I took it as a sign.

I have had a couple KLR's in the past very dependable but heavy and gear bound not sure about the newer bikes.   I know the new ones are not made in Japan anymore some SE Asia location if I'm not mistaken.

I have even gotten to sample the (US)Marine Diesel version and was not impressed but for the function it was designed to do I guess it was OK.

107
Hold on now,

Dipstick operation is a very complex system to master, now you have a better foundation to start from.

Just look Ken had you rebuilding the engine, and TRN had you calling engine shops to get labor quotes.

Dipsticks are tricky but it seems you might be on a positive trajectory to understanding the basics

108
I'm sure you did, but check oil, attach mechanical gauge, my guess you have a bad oil pressure unit.

I think the 06 are still on the left side of the engine, pretty easy to get too and change.

OK Folks, I am throwing in the towel on this Burb as a gasser project.

After a super effort spanning a couple of years, I have finally come to the conclusion that the gas 6.0 will never work in this application.

Stock, the truck could get out of its own way, barely but suffered from poor mileage and I doubt it would be worth a crap pulling a camper up over the divide.

Even with a supercharger, it has been only marginally better. A lot more power, but still mileage so poor as to relegate it to a truck to be used on short trips only.

I looked into converting it over to a 12 valve Cummins and I could do that but not with retaining the stock gage cluster and all those wonderful features that make the suburban a great truck to drive and own.

As Charles has said all along, the only thing that would make sense and last would be to transplant a Duramax which the 2400 Silverado's came with.

So, moving forward, I will purchase a donor silverado and remove everything duramax related from it, then just plug all that back together inside the Suburban. I'll probably rebuild the motor and trans and maybe the T-case too, since I think the D-max uses a 63 T-case in lieu of the 46 case I currently own. Anyway, standby for a standby as I source a donor truck

I highly recommend you find an entire running truck for this project, hopefully a running and driving example but a COMPLETE truck either way.
Phil, the project has evolved a little past this point from the past...

I meant as a donor for parts.

Now TNR when your competing in the cowboy action league in the Eastwood age division im sure your doing very well.

AND in Kens defense when your used to shooting at "H" sized targets its hard to miss, so I'm sure he thinks that 1911 is the best thing ever.

Don I apologize for everyone for totally DOT this great thread.

Don, dont want to screw your thread up, move it out if it doesn't belong here or in your thread.

Food for thought and some observations.

So I hear rumblings of things stirring in the this region, I'm a hardware person on many levels.  On thing I have noticed the equipment that is being captured by Ukraine forces, a real spread some of the new AK12, Mosins with WW2 optics, lots and lots of AK74 mostly typical Soviet equipment a few M4/AR platforms .  One thing I have NOT seen at least on the AK12's is ZERO optics, laser, ETC  I do have some real eyes over there right now and they have seen the same thing.

Which brings me to this point, I think the Russian troops in the Ukraine now are cannon fodder IMO none of the equipment is the "good" stuff which bring up a question or maybe Putin's strategy, burn up the Ukraine's limited resources and once thats depleted send in the top line units to clean it up.

Now I never though Putin would of pushed in as far as he has, anything can happen in the next few weeks but I know the Russians have good equipment but I dont see it turning up with the captured units.
...And they seem to have a lack of night vision equipment.
Most of the equipment in this invasion is very seasoned, I agree. BTR-50 and BTR-60 from the 1970's. BMP's at least have the new gun but old chassis. T-72 and T-64 also way old.
That truck mounted 40-tube rocket launcher, the BM-21 is late 1960's. I would have thought some of the rocket tubes would have rust holes in them by now.

Bigger picture is look at the tactics. Pretty much getting to be close to a total fail. This Army is not one that we couldn't put to bed so fast their head would spin. Poor leadership, dumb, like really dumb tactics. Leaving a convoy parked on a road for a week. Had they done that against us, I'd wager 75% of those vehicles would have been destroyed. When you stop, you disperse. And you move at proper interval, like 100 meters between vehicles, not all parked together. That makes for one big juicy target that anyone in my army would have taken advantage of.

No, I agree, this is not what I would have expected from this fearful russian bear. They are more like high school boy scouts than well trained troops.

Not sure how this plays out. I personally am just waiting to hear the "N" word. I think we have backed Putin into a corner so far he now is in a fight for his personal survival. A man with little to lose is a dangerous man!

I think the tactics are an effect of the Russians knowing there is NO air threat.  I agree target rich environment for sure if it was real world.
Add to the fact the Russian military has not seen active combat since 1990 and in most cases still fight with a WW2-cold war doctrine.  95% of the Russian Pilots I have worked with were also alcoholics, given functional alcoholics that’s a whole different conservation but anyway back to the Ukraine.

Putin really wants the Ukraine intact IMO, I have spent some time in Southern Ukraine Odessa-Sevastapol and as with most places in that area of the world the corruption is high, it is also very sad as the Ukraine has everything to become a very successful country, Aerospace, rail, agricultural (amazing potential), ports, aviation, manufacturing, nuke power and so on. Most of the Ukraine engineers/military/people I have worked with I have been impressed with good skills and generally good people.

I do not think Putin will use “N” I mean anything can happen but its too close to home and he wants Ukraine intact, if he didn’t want it to use the Ukraine's infrastructure then I firmly believe we would of carpet bombed the city’s right out of the gate.  It will be interesting for sure to see how this plays out, it is a pressure cooker let just hope the seal holds.

Juliette Kayyem@juliettekayyem·Feb 10Trust me, I will not run out of ways to make this hurt: cancel their insurance; suspend their drivers licenses; prohibit any future regulatory certification for truckers, etc. Have we learned nothing? These things fester when there are no consequences.Quote TweetJuliette Kayyem@juliettekayyem ·

Feb 10The convoy protest, applauded by right wing media as a "freedom protest," is an economic and security issue now. The Ambassador Bridge link constitutes 28% of annual trade movement between US and Canada. Slash the tires, empty gas tanks, arrest the drivers, and move the trucks

Well its just a matter of having the time to work on it, everything is done and the only thing that needs to be decided is if I use a NP205 or go to the Atlas route.  And when I say done everything is ready to be put back together, right now the body is still off the frame.

I living in flux right now and really dont have a home or a place to work on everything and when i do get time off its a mad rush to get things repaired that are critical IE not the RC.

I could sell it but ill regret it.  But I have considered it

New truck is very attractive and most are very capable off road now but are longer wheel base than a RC Also the 80K price tag for a new diesel or even if i went the Tradesman route with the Power Wagon package you are still looking at 50K.  Not a big issue with the price I wuld jusr have a hard time driving a truck I paid that much for thru brush and trees or getting rock rash or worse.

anyway I will get it done it will go down the road again

The factory running boards on the 03 2500 that were mostly plastic finally gave up the ghost.

So I had a set that a friend of mine gave to me a long time ago, with this set you have to mount the support brackets using the bolts going thru the body mounts.

Then I removed them I was surprised to see this, not much left. of the 6 bolts holding the cab these were the worst.

This truck from what the original owner told me spent 1 year in Minnesota and the truck dose not have any rust for the most part, just mostly surface.

Its amazing what a small amount of salt/water trapped in a closed area will do to metal. the bolt thats almost gone was the center passenger mount

How much stuff do you have?

A Short CIEMR

by Don Harward

When you have stuff, you spend a lot of time keeping it protected, serviced, repaired, up to date, painted, properly groomed, lubed and tuned. We sacrifice for these things, we accumulate things, we use and wear out and replace and upgrade. And we think and worry, and plan for even more acquisitions.

And all the while sunsets and sunrises that are magnificent go unnoticed. Roads go untraveled. Friends move into forgotten corners of our busy lives, and life becomes more about paying for, paying off, working, competing at the workplace,  and accumulating wealth, while we keep missing birthdays, and anniversaries. Instead we score on a deal for some piece of junk that will rest in some corner of your cluttered garage and never fulfil your vision for it.

We stop hiking, canoeing, skiing, riding, sightseeing, trail riding, and miss a thousand cool places to stop and eat and meet other people. We are not available to have chats and moments with our children, wives and husbands, aunts and uncles, and some of them pas on to eternity leaving us with regrets.

There is a price to be paid for having wealth and things, and many will not learn of it until the long years of life have produced wisdom for some that will only echo millions of missed opportunities.

We become slaves to our possessions, and I for one am going to become a bit less enslaved!

I ask myself this same question EVERYDAY, I think we have all said to ourselves why don't I just buy or pay someone to do it and be done with it.

Its how YOU/WE are wired, its what made you an exceptional aviator to never quit to always never stop flying the aircraft no matter how bad things got because you are the PIC.

I think its also some level of enjoyment/satisfaction of doing the job making it how you want it, just think all the time you are in a situation saying to yourself "this would be really cool if" its a never ending cycle.  its also the people you meet the experiences you gain and the knowledge you can give to someone else.

I learned very young you either have LOTS of TIME or MONEY and  NO TIME to spend it.  Then if you do spend the money you have no time to enjoy what you bought or there are changes you want to make .  Even if you buy it there will ALWAYS be something you want to change or add.

Bill's Column on the BLM Organization: 'It's News to Us'

By: Bill O'ReillyJune 28, 2020

Americans are divided, angry, sad, inspired in some cases, and watchful of the Black Lives Matter Movement.  This week one of its leaders proclaimed on national TV that “if this country doesn’t give us what we want, then we will burn the system down.”
Hawk Newsome continued saying he might be talking figuratively ... or literally.
Very macho.  Very provocative.  Might be a threat.
Now, you would think the national press would be all over this story, trying to get accurate information about the Black Lives Matter operation to the American people, who the press is supposed to serve.  I mean, this is an important story, is it not?
Mr. Newsome, who heads the New York City chapter of Black Lives Matter, is the new Huey Newton, whom the 1960’s media largely adored.  Mr. Newton cofounded the Black Panther Party.
Do you know who cofounded the current Black Lives Matter organization?  Bet you don’t.  Because the press has totally ignored the real story regarding the BLM movement.
Three women are behind “The Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation,” which is the central organization that directs policy. Alicia Garza, 39, is the chief strategic advisor.  Patrisse Cullors, 36, is also a top advisor.
Finally, Opal Tometi, 36, is the third force. She works with the BLM Foundation and is also the Executive Director of the “Black Alliance for Just Immigration.” That group is associated with the “Freedom Road Socialist Organization,” a Marxist-Leninist group that has received funding from the Tides Foundation run by George Soros.
Ah, the plot thickens.
The three women who essentially run the BLM Foundation keep a very low profile.  No cable news interviews for them.
Nope, these ladies are serious.
In an interview with a professor from Morgan State University, Ms. Cullors said: “Myself and Alicia (Garza) in particular are trained organizers.  We are trained Marxists.  We are super-versed on ideological theories.”
So, do you think the protestors chanting “Black Lives Matter” in the streets understand what the “Black Lives Matter Global Network” really is?
And then there’s the “Thousand Currents” operation out of Oakland, California.  Ever heard of it?  I didn’t think so.
Because the Black Lives Matter Foundation does not have tax exempt status, at least not yet, the radical left “Thousand Currents” outfit “fiscally sponsors” BLM.  The means it holds their donations, which now number in the millions.  Because the non-profit “Currents” is overseeing the cash, donors are allowed to write off donations to BLM, according to the IRS.
Karl Marx would love this; a capitalist government allowing tax deductions for money earmarked to destroy it.
And so ignorant celebrities and clueless corporations benefit financially when giving money to the radical left Black Lives Matter Global Organization Foundation.  Right on!
Another question. When BLM receives the donated money where does the cash wind up?  Well, according to FactCheck.org, 71 percent of it goes to salaries, benefits, and “consulting fees.”
Wow!  How great is this?  Your mom could be a “consultant.”
Interesting, right? The Black Lives Matter organization is run by Marxists who have access to lots and lots of money.
Who knew?  Certainly not anyone who follows the national press.  Those “news” organizations couldn’t care less.
As long as they can virtue-signal and damage “Donald Trump’s America,” the press is happy in its laziness and apathy.
Does the truth matter?
Not to the media.
Power to the people!

Question 2:  How do they remain there?

Don that's easy, handouts.  Get in a depressed, socially-economically depressed welfare area tell them how much free stuff they will get if they elect them!!!  thats is how those clowns get elected.  Then brainwash the children in the local pubic schools to think like this and bingo you have the Mornon show.  This is right out of the Communist play book is exactly what the soviets did after WW2.

You would be correct.  This mission belongs to NASA so ultimately it’s 100% their call if we launch or not.

IMO LEO will be abandoned by NASA and it will mostly be commercial investment.  I predict rocket travel with become like airline travel in our lifetimes and cell phones will go the way of land lines.
