Shave a 11.5" AAM...Seriously?
« on: August 16, 2020, 10:44:16 AM »
Now I think the AAM 11.5 is about as beefy and strong a part as has ever been installed in a truck.

Now one can shave it and truss it up?

Is this in case you air drop your buggy from a C-130 into mountainous terrain???

Shawn-ee??

Meh, kinda silly.......

They’re more expensive axles to begin with, big boat anchors and expensive to build. I guess if you’re  wheeling your Duramax then ok, but how many people will do that? A 14 bolt 10.5 is still a better less expensive option. Rock bouncer guys running them coast side in the front with huge tires and tons of hp/tq and best they can do is bust ring gears. So we build a load bolted cover for them and it’s more or less bulletproof then.

My 2 cents

He's right!

And at our mall here, they painted the curbing with some axle bustin' yellow paint stuff!

Man, you get on that stuff and you're a goner, 11.5 axle or not!

The 11.5 AAM looks cool and has what, 4in tubes now.

But the 10.5 is just as strong from many reports and been used under 1+ ton trucks for decades.

Can't remember anyone breaking one in mulch either??

Seriously, what do you know about mulch?

You folks don't even have grass out in Kalifornia!

Well let me tell ya, old seasoned mulch beds are plenty dangerous! Especially the ones with multiple years of layers of the stuff. You never hear about the folks that venture out into one at night never to be heard from again. You don't hear about Navee and Air Force helos landing in the stuff just to be swallowed up. You wonder where the creature from the black lagoon came from??? Widely known here in the Tuck, it crawled out of a mulch bog!

Why was it that the ming dynasty in China abandoned building the great wall, and instead surrounded the country with a ten foot wide mulch bed, then enjoyed, what 20,000 years of peace or something like that.

And although it's never been fully disclosed, did you ever wonder where we got the raw material for our first couple Atomic bombs? Yea, thought so, just ask a couple hundred thousand burned up Japanese what they think about it.

The Bermuda triangle, where most of the black mulch is collected has collected many a mulch hauler in its murky depths and who hasn't heard about the mulch/dust storms from the 1930's? It was the mulch that killed off the crops in like 62 states causing the soil to actually evaporate into dust!

Al ciqueda...Ya, they smoke the stuff just before rammin jet airliners into buildings, so don't go tellin' me you understand the dangers of mulch or how some puny little 14 or 15 bolt rear end is going to come out of a good bed of the stuff intact!

OOoo, a tad touchy today? No more Coke (nasty stuff) but lets limit the coffee a tad.

Grass, to much of it. They paint it, they smoke it but I mostly water it. Mulch, who goes to the mall, I don't care unless your stuck in it,,,,,,,,,,,,maybe

Didn't the bombs raw material come from the Manhatten project?

Thought we had 58 states (per obumer), now we get earl from all those states,,,,,,,, Earl made that dust, not mulch.

Besides the easy to get 14bt and all the parts, the pinion support and easy setup makes em had to beat, even for a mulching truck.

No coffee, no soda, just sweet green tea.

Jr, that’s awfully close to a soy latte.  Might want to keep that green tea stuff to yourself. :stickpoke....

Its cheap and tastes good, not going to apologize for anything I like.

Thinking today here was like TX weather. I can handle hot, but this is just nasty today.

We had a big storm roll in night before last at about 23:30 with big winds and mongo lightning show. Got 2.75 inches of rain in about 1 hour.  Lost powers until 05:45. Cooled off nicely. High yesterday just cracked 90 instead of the 104 on Sunday.

Just kidding about the green tea. Iirc it has more caffeine than coffee.

Staying 90 here all night right now. Weird thunder storms, lightning and muggy. Does this almost every year for a week or so.

Sipping a tea now, can't hurt my looks at all.
