Not sure why I never posted the wall being 95% finished. Doing the floors now and about the wrap around the corner of it.

Don't skimp on the bottoms, do holes along the sides. If you leave items in containers your could leave that way or just a door skin to close it up. In fact 3/8 and a thin skin might be stronger?

Want to see what you do for the top since you need load bearing there. Just ply or a laminate setup?

Nice start. I have seen the system used many times and looks great to hide screw heads.

I really need to build something for the Tahoe. I have stuff rolling all around.

I saw that in a YT vid for sliding in odd pieces. Wood will just dent the ends, you need a sacraficial piece of tile.

I made a bar that you can hammer against the wall with. Another vid showed using a block of wood with a handle as a mallet, just slide along the floor.

Nice, I got 72 boxes. Only like 8 panels per box, heavy stuff with backing.

Working on clearing a closet now that is being a pain. Some bozo (me) drove screws under the drywall edge.

Hint, although it looks easy to get the planks to lock together. I found using a soapy mixture really helps. I just have a little tub and rag, but going to try a brush next.

Is it vinyl? I have the costco laminated wood flooring and it suck big time. It does not like water at all, mine is a mess.

I hauled 35 boxes of the newer vinyl in the Dmax, abuot 1/2 pallet. Sat low but no issues.

I have Foxes up front, added with the lift. Still running Bilstiens in the back. With 2" blocks they are right in the middle of travel.

Does that have a rear sway bar?

Fight or flight, you'll run fine but let her go.

I don't trust bear spray. Yes I have it but I see so many times it doesn't work, guns always work.

If she likes the 9mm, get high penetration self defense rounds. Although I am a fan of the 45acp/40sw, 9mm has come a long way. Some rounds don't expand and tumble more after penetration. I saw a 165gr 9mm round that separates after 12in in the gell.

That way she shoots what she is comfortable with, KISS.

Think of sabots for the 12g, you need penetration but hard to argue with a 1oz slug too.

Hand Tools, Power Tools, Welders, etc / Re: Wesco Material lift
« on: February 05, 2024, 09:13:26 PM »
Lift I found was at a Fasenal down in Fremont. Got it for $250 and is much better for use at my little house/shop.

Goes though doorways, has adjustable forks (I will make a plate for it) and is almost the same capacity at 880lbs.

26in wide, forks are 25in and can go down between the legs. Needs a new release, but the vise grips were included.

SO while I was starting to mod the wesco, I saw another that would suit my need better.

I welded the edge I had cut off the platform and its new home will be at the Ridge.

Thank god for paint, makes its look way better. I actually have a load of stuff to get up there. Even found #5 rebar for a good price on the way.

Some of the DIY setups are very nice, seen many overlander vids about them.

Like to do a drawer setup for the Tahoe. I always seem to carry a lot and dig to find things way to much.

I like drawer systems, but you may find something used vs the hefty $$ new. I see decked systems for sale all the time out here, but for trucks.

What about some storage in the tailgate? Looking now at those options for my sons Sonoma and the Dmax. Tahoe has all the room in rear side panels I am going to tap.

Firearms / Re: Pump or automatic?
« on: January 31, 2024, 08:07:34 PM »
I have an 500, KSG, Win XTR SA for hunting and the SA Weatherby, all 12G. Changed the weight on the W-SA to take 2 3/4 shells, was made for 3". Pistol grip on the 500.

The WB kick like a mule even turned down. KSG does not kick as the others, but is heavy and 14 rounds is nice, but you can't baby it at all.

I don't have a preference on SA vs pump, but NOTHING puts the fear of God into someone like the racking the action. Many a time thats all you need. Now saying that, I like a SA for follow up shots if needed.

I have a 20rnd sling for the 500 and WB, both at the Ridge just because (KISS) No extra rounds carried for the KSG and you can't combat load, but you can switch which tube you feed from and can turn in a hall, doorway (or a vehicle) without issue.

I think I would stay with pump for the same KISS. SA eats ammo and the charge handle can get in the way for storage.

Glad your OK Charles, they grow em big in Tx?

1st couple courses were fun. Tied to measure to have come out even when getting to the hallway, then 2 vents (one I moved) and the cove by the front window. Finding using soapy solution on all edges really helps. Now I have a closet to do with the next row.

Another great weekend up there. Tad on the chili side at night (30f) but manageable with the igloo and a buddy heater.

Kubota gave me a run with the battery acting up. After 4 years the corrosion has done its job and we had a no start issue. Jumping it was a joy being in the container, but I had 20' cables. My little jumper box did no good with the corrosion and even though this has a jumper plug, I don't have the lead for that (will remedy)
Battery tested fine along with charging system. But the cables and such were in need of attention. I had to run to a nieghbor to borrow a brush. Cleaned everything including grounds, coated much of the contacts with grease. Now she starts right up.

Everything else ran fine but the gen, so no well output yet. That and septic (my real goal this weekend). Lots of finding stuff in the container (did I mention its a mess?)

Road is more than clear, no ice at all and someone dragged it so the TH needs to get up here soon. (no more container sleeping?)
