Ken, its not hard to be 100% honest. You do what makes you $$ and don't bull the customer. Out here $100 is a standard price and I see why.

I may try this new guy who still uses the old bubble setup next time if he's available.
It's not hard for people like us, but I've seen enough from the other shops in our town to know honesty is not the norm. Peace meal work breeds greed and dishonesty. Maybe not always straight up theft, but a lot of grey areas.

These trucks have a open void in the bumper that is direct line to the trans cooler, all the a$$H0!3 truck drivers keep leaving 1” rocks on the highways and I don’t want to catch one with that cooler…. So I added this junk from fleabay

0/10 wouldn’t recommend this junk, hardware crap, instructions were crap, alignments crap, build quality is just above spray painted black cardboard.

It’s aluminum and black. That’s about all it has going for it until I find something better and or house extra lights

But protected for now

better than nothing Dave. I caught mine early on the wife's old Taurus Wagon X, but if had gone much further it would have been an irreplaceable trans with that cvt crap. plus, from behind the grill it looks super clean so not a total loss.

First oil change in the garage, amsoil and a wix oil filter.

Seemed to go easy enough. Sure wish GM would figure out the filter spill off so it doesn’t run down the whole mess of suspension components there under the filter.

Didn’t instal the fumoto valve and hose I put together as I didn’t like how low it would hang.

All in all 10qrt and off to the races for another 5k miles

Also sprayed the drive axle with amsoil under carriage sealer stuff

With amsoil I’d go 7500 at least if you aren’t doing oil analysis

I upgraded my filter to the big cat unit, after 5k the oil looks clean. Better than when I had the bypass system.

I run semi synthetic, good compromise.

What filter you running Fred?
I dropped my bypass, but miss the cleaner oil.
I just don't want to wind up missing a digit or limb.  I can sometimes get in a hurry to get results.

I can testify. That huge CAT filter with its adapter is getting it done. Amsoil and bypass = waste of money in my opinion. I've been on straight dino, Delvac, now for years and on the CAT filter for a couple of cycles. Good setup for the D-max IMHO

Our shelf’s are empty of all types of oil.  Coworker came to me a few weeks ago and asked if could still get amsoil. So I ordered him up enough for three changes.   I ordered me one.

Iv had good results from the oil and have nothing bad to say about it.

Gave the truck a spring time comin hand wash.

The wheel wells are so terrible for that fine road sand they spread in the snow.  Add into the dirty roads mixed with our shop parking lot being just road base.

Have a buddy who had an idea to use some suede patch stuff on the whole surface of my A pillars, the gloss on the banks pillar wasn’t mu thing, the grey on the passenger side didn’t match the driver side so… I figured give it a try.

You prime the plastic black, they spray adhesive and use a sift to sprinkle the fibers over the glue, we repeated the process a few times to give a thicker coverage.

The pictures may or may not do it justice

The glue comes out in a spitting type texture, not smooth like a paint sprayer. Hindsight we could have used a cheaper aerosol can type glue but it’s not what we had, It has some texture, the glue left some high spots. But it looks “good enough” until I decide it doesn’t look good at all

I have considered getting them paint matched to the grey metallic dash pieces but that would be far more expensive then what I did do.

Well I may not have posted but I got the bed of the truck with the light on the fifthwheel.

It wasn’t major but I couldn’t let it go

I tried to catch the partial fix the local body shop did with a photo but I wasn’t able to.

Regardless I could see it I’m my driver side mirror after the fix.  So every time I looked in my mirror I seen it.

I dropped it off 05/09/22 and he called me yesterday the 05/16 to come get it.
In the direct light it looked fantastic.  On the ride home I noticed it in my mirror. So today I drove back.

The owner was out on a parts run and when he returned he seen the spot before he even made it inside and went and found the tec, a sanding block and proceeded to sand it on the spot!

After dealing with the employee and showing him his error he then told me he needed my truck for a few days lol
I of course agreed and he promised 100% satisfaction next time.  They don’t too comebacks and he was pretty hot with the employee.

This is what he sanded down in five seconds

Note the blue/green color?
That’s all high and what was causing my reflection line to be off.
Wish I could have got a photo of it to clarify but it just didn’t work.

Body work is hard to do and do flawlessly.

I did warn him when I dropped it off I was very a detailed person in what I see and do, I can’t say he didn’t know what he was getting into

I was hoping the purchases would slow but everything I have read on them is GM is still controlling or slowing the production of trucks.  Mines doesn have a build date yet.  Been on order for four week already
I paid 62 for this past truck, sold for 65, drove it for a year, plus so dodads but otherwise, the in and out at the dealership kept me about $5k ahead with taxes also for the new one

So I figure I’m $8k ahead towards the new truck. Then all my payments I won’t be making till the new one comes in.  So I’ll have a good bunch to put back into it.

Man, right out of the blue!

I'm sort of headed the opposite direction

Staying with the 2011 LML. No payments since 2012, with 140K it will last another 10 years. We pay taxes on property (vehicles) in the tuck. A new truck = $1,000 taxes per year. My d-max is hanging in around upper $300's and the 02 Burb a paltry $69! New trucks are so packed with technology (That costs money and breaks down) which to me is more take than give. Plus, taking advantages of the mods for another decade. Finally, driving a more classic truck in my view is cool.

Having said that, keeping vs buying new is an individual choice. Totally cool buying a sweet new Dually. I look forward to this coming story.
