We’re close to closing on 40 acres down well south of Seattle too, close to my parents, for all the same reasons.

Congrats on the purchase. I love it out there on the peninsula.

Wow, that’s awesome. Great work. And who cares if it’s on the heavy side... biggest gripe with production campers is that they’re flimsy and weak.

Besides, it’s the aerodynamic drag that would hurt you more than an extra 1000 lbs, and you’re not going to have any drag to speak of.

Can’t believe you put wheeled equipment on that beautiful lawn

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
So it’s really green and nice now, but that area we refer to as the “back back”. It’s not irrigated, and i do not maintain it like “the lawn”. I would not drive my truck and dump trailer over my lawn lol

The back back is beyond the short black fence, which separates the two

Took down a couple unhealthy maples in our back back yard. Dug out the stumps and planted a new red leaf maple and an oak.

Got another load of cedar chips for the playset. $35/yard, and this brings the total to 8 yards. Ouch

In the process of the garage clean, I decided to downsize my compressor here and save the biggy for the Ridge.

Picked up a Lowes/Kobalt 60gal, 3.7hp but rated at 11cfm @ 90psi (last years model) was $50 less, minus the discount, under $500 bones.

Getting it home was as interesting as unloading. Used a 6ft extension on the picker with me hanging off the back (son missed picture)
I have the same one but the 30 gal and it has served me very well

Here you go Dave... the inside curves are where the 4 wheel steer makes a big difference. Back wheels kick the deck into the corners. Here’s a couple tight curves i can mow with the rider. I don’t HAVE to edge, but I do. When I only have a short window to mow, I can cut the lawn with mower only and get everything.

Not today, but last Saturday... family tackled splitting and stacking 4 cords of firewood. Dad and I had bucked up a bunch of maple and alder and brought it up to the landing. Then we made an investment, going halves on a 27 ton splitter. The champion machine from Home Depot proved to be a very capable machine, and made short work of our big knotty maple. There was nothing it didn’t bust open, I was very impressed.

I will tomorrow.

And in the 10k plus range, look at a Walker. Not as fast as Don’s skag or an exmark, but out here many of the pros use them.... and they can bag into a rear hopper.

My neighbor bought a Walker T25i (12k’ish) and I bought his almost new x354. He’s got deeper pockets than me!

Commercial zero turn is wayyyy overkill for 10k ft of grass man.

If you’re worried about maneuverability, look at the Deere 4wheel steer models. I have the x354 and it works great. Mows right inside and outside radiuses, excellent at mowing tight circles around trees too. Only downside to 4wheel steer models is it’s difficult to mow straight lines, if that matters to you

So after letting it dry for 2 weeks...

This 44' x 27' piece of land tried really hard to not let me win!

But in the end, after i gave my buddies 30 year old tiller a little love and maintenance....

I tightened up a few wigglely/loose nuts and bolts, cut out all of the twine and wire that was wrapped around the tines and added a little oil to the case.  It bogged down a bit in 1 or 2 places and the belt screeched at me.....so i will take a look at that and see if it can be tightened up or needs a new one.

the land lost the battle.  I will caveat that statement with...it took me 6 times going over it.

I will now give it a 2 day dry and hit it again thursday afternoon/evening to hopefully break the medium chunks on down into really small chunks and smooth dirt.
Dad and I bought a tiller like that a few years ago, the TroyBilt “Horse”.... aptly named I would say, thing was a beast. Looks pretty much exactly like the machine you used. Way too much for dad to handle, or want to handle, so we flipped it for what we paid for it. Great machine though, I had fun running it.

Ended up getting a smaller craftsman front tine tiller for the tight spots which is much easier to handle, and then a 5’ frontier unit for the tractor which was probably a foolish purchase as we rarely use it.

Took me a few days, but I caught up on this. Looks great!

Your tuning escapades reminded me of my first experience with Kory on my LMM. Such a helpless, frustrating feeling when you’re waiting on somebody else for something only they can fix, and they don’t really care.

Glad you were able to reconnect with Nick, and get things on the right track!

Concur!

Mail order tuning is a fail, and I will not promote it nor recommend it.

Nick is currently sorting our a strange transmission behavior

Someday, I'll get all the issues solved.
That said, working with Rob Coddens when he was able to tune was great.

I recently tuned my LBZ and had not been up to speed on the tyranny at the EPA, so was shocked when I called Rob and that was no dice. Luckily MotorOps was still in the game, so I called them and talked to a fella named Steve. All in all I’ve been happy with the tuning from MotorOps.

Hope your trans issues get sorted soon!

Just scrolled through your whole build thread, brings back lots of memories of our build!

Be glad your were as involved and knowledgeable as you were/are. I was pretty ignorant during our build, and we’re paying the price for it now. Corners cut and plan deviations have resulted in a major lawsuit, and it all could/should have been avoided if done right the first time.

Your place looks great, especially love the garage and some of your specific finishes like the stained glass pendants and mud room hooks. Very custom.

Hey there fellas, long time no see. Wanted to drop in to say hello and see how everyone is doing. Doing ok here, lots has changed since you probably heard from me. I think last time I posted we had just had our first baby, sometime early 2018. Anyhow, she's 2.5 now.. Daddy's girl for sure. Almost 3 months ago, we had our second, a little boy. I can't even begin to explain how much I enjoy being a dad, which is primarily why I have been absent from here for so long. All of my time is spent with my kids after work, and what little remains after they're in bed I try to work on my projects and chores (maybe a couple other thread updates needed!) Our chocolate lab turns 3 later this month, and has turned out to be the best dog. He's very gentle with my kids. Love that dog.

It's definitely been a whirlwind couple of years since you've heard from me. In addition to the enormous blessings of our kids, we've also had our fair share of challenges. We discovered some major issues with our house, and are currently in litigation with the builder over numerous construction defects resulting in severe water intrusion and resulting rot. We have a very strong case, based on the thousands of photos taken throughout construction, but it's still a slog and attorneys and industry expert witnesses are damn expensive. Our family has had some health challenges also. My dad was diagnosed with cancer, battled it, beat it, and is now in remission. Sadly though, my mother in law lost her 3 year battle with cancer a few weeks ago, and is now passed on to eternity with our Lord.

Lot's of good times though too! We continue to enjoy spending our vacation time camping, either up in the mountains our at our family friend's place out at the beach. Last year we upgraded RV's again, jumped to a fifth wheel this time. Zero regrets. Love the fifth wheel so far. The LBZ handles it nicely once I added airbags.... but truth be told I've got my eye on a Cummins megacab. Around the place, I've really got the shop dialed in, made some tool upgrades, built some stuff. May have to snap some photos and show you all what the shop looks like now.

Anyway, here's some updated photos of the family. Can't promise I'll be posting regularly, but will try to update some of my threads, and DOT up one of yours from time to time.

Kyle

My other Dmax that was tuned by PPEI sounded like a Powerstroke... timing was wayyy too advanced.

Have you taken a look at your Main Injection Timing numbers? It's a PID you can monitor on your CTS.

Kory never did figure that out on my LMM. Rob's tuning did not have the same problem.

Well, as usual, nothing can really go right for me on purchases like this.

About 2 months ago I got my A.R.E. Canopy installed. Immediately I was pissed. It was poorly made, with flaws and poor moldings where it sits on the bed. And, the color was off. They said they’d order a replacement, and let me use the flawed one till it arrived.

So a month goes by and I call back. “Oh, yeah, we forgot to email you. They’re not going to warranty that”. So I said fine, I’ll be down in the morning and you can take this POS off and give me my money back in full.

So once I had that taken care of, I drove up to the Leer dealer and ordered a topper. It will be installed next Wednesday. I have a loaner on there until then.

Now for the good news. The DECKED system is awesome, I love it. Really easy to install, and the fit and finish is top notch. Highly recommend to anybody looking for storage options with a canopy.

Sharpening pencils, opening boxes, cleaning out notches, cutting off splinters, etc etc. it’s sharp as hell, but also has the strength of a chisel

When I read your post, I looked up that knife thing and immediately went and ordered it.
I bought a new framing belt and just placed it in there. Question: Seems light to me, can you pound on the handle end to use like a chisel? Strong enough? Remember who it is you're talking with...Carrep...
I have yeah, its so sharp you won’t need to pound hard. You won’t want to pound and pry like you would a heavy chisel, but it’s a pretty well made little tool. You’ll see, it’s extremely sharp

Yeah, the way I keep my credit rating up is use 2 credit cards to buy everything and pay them off each month and never pay interest.

One of the cards puts 2% of what I spend into my kids 529 fund so I put everything I can on it.  I tried to put my dually on it but the dealer didnt want to honor the deal I cut if I was going to use the credit card.

Charlie Mike, Sir.....

We do the same thing. EVERYTHING goes on a credit card that can, and gets paid off monthly. We use the Alaska Airlines card, and as a result rarely pay for a flight (use points). And credit cards have better fraud protection than debit too.

That's nuts.

Plus I work alone.....kind of hard to do that.

Any recommendations on tool belts?  Mine broke after 15 years.

Most of the carpenters around here that I can speak the same language as run Occidental bags. They look very very nice. Spendy, but will last ya forever.

I don't use a belt enough to justify spending that kind of money, so i use a CLC padded back support belt and shoulder straps, and replaced the CLC flimsy nylon bags with the more rigid Husky bags. It works for me.

This bag on the right: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Husky-2-Pocket-Small-Framer-Pouch-with-Leather-GP-46667N14/205593560
I hate having my hammer in my middle back, i like how this one is on the side, but out away from your waist so it doesn't smack into your knees. There's others just like this one, but bigger too.

And a smaller bag for my left side (can't find it on HD website, but it's basically the same line, just pouches for nail strips, screws, torpedo level, chalk line, etc etc
