One of my favorites too .
I made it for my son who’s a smoke dancer for his regalia

Maybe couldn't zoom in far enough to notice. looks very authentic. Cherokee buddy of mine does the flint knapping stuff and reminded me of his work. (We did a lot of work with the boy scouts back in the late 90's, OA mostly.) at some point I'll learn some knife making skills. for now I'll just be envious and drool over what I get to see here.
-
Maybe I could just buy some from Harvey and take credit? No? haha
-
It’s all in the equipment at some point. Feel free to buy my stuff and call it your own lol with a big KOSO stamp in the blade

Negative sir. My weapon of choice when I have to disarm in a gun free zone. Actually the grip would be wrong for a neck sheath. My Cold Steel counter TAC II is not bad for a neck sheath, but I'll need a right side deployment for the blade to be on the bottom of the right hand. I absolutely love my Emerson Karambit folder

I'd be interested in how you made your makers mark stamp. Something I have yet to research, not knowing how serious I'm going to take this whole knife making thang.
It's so friggin time consuming.
-
Had it made by a metal stamp company ~$180.

Finished my first blade today. The handle is African blackwood. Going deer hunting tomorrow so hopefully get to try it out. (https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190111/64fed48645abca5e54327cdb5fddd65f.jpg)

If she holds an edge ...she’s gold! Damn nice first blade!
Mosaic pin/bolsters...NOT entry level shiiiit

Honestly Harv, it won't hold an edge. I could tell by how fast it sharpened. But I do appreciate the compliment.
I'll use better steel next time.

52100 or 80 crv2 and I’ll give you the recipe

(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190113/9e829e0f261bbd2096e22d87b671b7d6.jpg)heres the grain structure of 52100 steel with over 90% grain transfer. I broke the blade to test take a look at the structure because this 3/32” steel is a different thickness than I’m use to.
This break is back in the handle area where I no longer focus on complete grain transfer due to a blade needing some flexibility so as not to snap during regular use.
Judging by how fine this grain is, it’s safe to assume the cutting edge is sweet AF!
It sucks to test your work, but as you know, it’s necessary to have quality control measures.

Here's a friction folder that I'm working on when I have time.
It's 1/8" 1095 and jade green g10. This is my second friction folder. I've done a couple of fixed blades, but I don't have any pictures handy.

You should be good to upload pics now without an issue

They're showing up fine for me. Did I do something wrong?
-
You're fine.
Nice work on the blade.

Nice work on the blade.
Thanks. This is the first knife I've ground on my new grinder.
I used to use a harbor freight 4x36" belt sander. It worked, but to say that it's underpowered is being nice. I think it's like 1/2hp. My new grinder is a 2x48" with a 2hp motor. It's almost scary to use compared to the old one. Lol

Just thought I'd drop in and share a couple of recent pics and see what everyone else is working on these days.
-
-
Thanks.
Did you keep after it?
Did you get to use your knife on a deer?
-
I didn't keep after it but did use it on 2 deer. Worked pretty good.
-
Sure is some fine looking cutlery

Even if it's not something that you do often, knowing that you can make a good working tool is a great feeling.

Is anyone else working on knives?(or other edged tools?

I like that last one next to the G19.
Tactical tailor makes some nice stuff, have one of their rucks under my bed from back in the day.

its funny you say that bobby. tactical tailor has since closed their show room, drastically reduced their inventory, stopped selling firearms and firearm accessories, no more ammo, drastically reduced their inventory and have moved locations since they were robbed in 2016/2017. they still sell some stuff online but a majority of what they make now goes to gov contracts.
-
I have two plumb axes I need to clean up, but that’s the only knifes or edges I play with.

Wow that sucks. Never knew that. I bought one of their rucks a few years ago since my original ALICE needs some upgrades, and I have "retired" it to relaxing duty. The TT ruck was great but I shouldn't have bought the one with the sleeping system container attached, never used it.
-
The belt in the pic about is full of their gear too. There's a dump pouch on there that was modified by the owner before he passed away.
Having the store nearby was pretty cool. They'd have sales on stuff and I'd end up buying stuff that I'd never use. Lol
Things definitely changed after the owner passed.
I believe that they own grey ghost precision as well.

I’ve just been focused on trying to sharpen the knives I have. Apparently it’s a more perishable skill than shooting.
Just got a new counter tac II neck knife. I gave my last one to a buddy who saw it and liked it.
