Small shop update. I decided to border my benches with some 1" oak to both cover the plywood edges, and also to give some hardwood strength to the edges

Countersunk all the screws and plugged the holes with oak dowel. (No pics of that yet) Will stain and seal later today

Dawg, assuming the screws were just to hold in place until glue dried?

Oh I glued the heck out of it. It’s a glue joint, sucked up with pan head screws

I applied stain tonight. Clear coat will be Saturday

Note, the workbench island is only partially complete. There will be lots of shelves and cubbies under the work surface, just putting that part off for awhile. But I wanted to get the work surfaces done and finish applied so I’d stop being so paranoid about setting my beer down and getting a water ring on the wood lol

Purdy. Now set something hot on it to break it in.

Watched a guy build a steel workbench once. Soon as he was done he hit it with a ballpeen hammer, broke it in!!

Dawg do you have a biscuit joiner?  I don’t do as much woodwork as you but my biscuit joiner is indispensable for stuff like that.

Will probably be something wet rather than hot, or maybe something greasy... need to spend some time on my chainsaws.

I do not. It's on my list of wants... with about 1000 other things! The festool domino is slick, but damn expensive

As soon as i get done building all the stuff that I want!!  :beercheers:

Danke.

Just do an oil change on the dmax and accidently drop the oil filter on top if you really wanna break it in. you wouldn't have to stain it....see, I saved you a bunch of work! :)

Nice welding table(s)!

Sorry, but that place is too pretty to work in/on. Where's the stains, gouges, paint dribbles and burned areas?

New and way to nice to ever use as a shop area. Haven't you looked at the photos of the other shops on this site. Most are clean and tidy but man you are way overboard, that place is nicer than my living room area.

Honestly, I'm not really sure at the moment. However, I am sure that those two could expertly break or dirty up that beautiful finely laid out new shop....  :beercheers:
