WDYDT (What Did You Do Today)
« Reply #19100 on: February 28, 2024, 01:00:57 PM »
So I’ve been busy…and cold…

On the way to work this morning.

Found some 14 ply trailer tires. Mounted theee of the four. Need a wheel off the trailer for the fourth.

They are some off shore company but the price was right for a trial of a set.

Regroovable too!

It’s square tire weather…literally.
They take a bit to smooth the flat spot out.

And I’m unsure if it’s just been so warm this winter or if I’m getting soft but it sure is cold…

To be honest it wasn’t too windy but it does add up quick.
Likey in the -50 to 50-something range.

I generally don’t pay “that” much attention as if I’m heading out in that cold I’ll be on a snowmobile or some other form of wind amplifying device.
Wind proof head gear and mitts are a must.

Sold all my porter cable tools today. I have been moving to Dewalt for some time, you can really find deals on open box stuff on Ebay.

12v I have gone to Milwalkee for the compact stuff. I still have some old 12v Craftsman Nextec and a couple Ryobi 18v that are oddball tools, but I have dewalt adapters I can use..

You don’t think it’s in the pallets of returned junk you can buy from Amazon? Not arguing just asking.

Amazon tends to be pricier, had good luck with ebay being cheaper. Used the same seller several times now. I just made an "iffy" buy, but PP gives refunds pretty easy.

JR, what I’m saying to Charles is maybe the eBay sellers are selling items they bought from amazons returned pallet system and then sell it on eBay versus thieves walking it out of stores and selling on eBay.

Furthermore, the issue isn’t if pp protects your money it’s whether you just bought stolen chit or not.

Shawn, entirely possible.  I’m just making hyperbolic statements as more and more theft rings go pro and use reselling sites.

About to land in HRL.  Up close and personal with the border crisis.  Thank God it’s just a day trip.  Hate not being armed while I’m here.  Not even a blade since I didn’t check a bag.

Are we still holding off on looking at the new member applications or are we cleaning them up? There are only 5 waiting now so I think you all have been clearing them out but the last I saw was to not touch them so the orange people would see them.

I worked with ASO to try and close the hole these mice were getting through. I cannot say if the technicians got it patched, or if a patch is even possible.

What happens, is that the longer you go, your contact/email/address gets circulated. Many bad characters get access to it. Once someone puts you on some dark list that scammers access, then they just use the normal process to get in. Our defense is our approval process. It works in that it stacks applications to join up in a list. Then one of us, and that person is rather random just looks over the list and makes the calls. All of you in the Global Moderator or Administrator status can hire or fire. I get to it a couple of times a day and so do many of you. Collectively we kick the assumed bad ones to the curb.

Not an ideal system, but it is what we have.

You all are free to approve or reject as you see fit, your call. Restrictions are lifted.

Man Kali sucks! Just got word from my insurance co (farmers) that now Kali requires the following to renew ins.

Pic of all four sides of vehicle
Pic of odomiter, and registration and vin plate (isn't the vin on the reg that kali issues!)
Pic of your cdl for the drivers

And now there is a 20 day wait to insure new vehicles

Why are people leaving Kali?????????????????

Then our fuel averages over $1 more than the rest of the country.

Yup, way I figure it just the lumber is right shy of $1k per bed. We paid a 1/10th of that per unit plus add that there’s labor and some large screws included.

Absolutely, we have a resident deer population that lives between our homes. Safety and ability to see and sense predators at night along with abundant food source keeps them here. Rarely, we see bucks, mostly does and fawns etc.

Went to the local VFW service unit for help with my VA appeal on my disability. Quoting an old saying that an uncle had said, " they have more red tape than Carter had little pills "

Why does this process have to be so hard?

Just get an attorney. Doing that will get it done quicker and you will get to the real decision much faster. The VA wants to get rid of the attorneys, so those claims are processed faster. Plus an attorney can hurt a VA processor. The Attorney studies the law and the regulations, whereas the adjudicators at the VA come and go. Those folks know they are not all that safe when working with an attorney.
So, like I said a paragraph ago, just hire an attorney.

As long as you play ball on their field, they can always control who or what shows up. I'd lawyer up ASAP. These bureaucrats are not improving with age.
I did it with my appeal. Leaving the Army I could not hear well, and I had broken my back twice on deployments. Both knees were shot (In special ops we ran 5-7 miles almost every day and hours in the gym) I suffered spinal compression when the helo I was in crashed in Korea... The VA gave me 0% disability...ZERO!
The first attorney got that to 30 then to 50%. The second one got me to 80% with payments and benefits set at 100% because of the combat-related issues. Three months flash to bang with an attorney, with back pay.
Just sayin...

Sheesh. Been quiet here. On my side too at least here.

Did a little moving today.

Little winch action and the 975 pound box on the sleigh.

EZPZ move it was.

About a week out we’re supposed to be either side of freezing.
I’m looking forward to spring.
But got a couple more big loads to haul.
Then I can get to work.
