Were you all aware that Thomas Jefferson declared war on the Barbary Pirates (Islam) and was therefore responsible for the creation of the Marine Corps.?  This conflict also coined the term "Leatherneck" due to the heavy leather collar on their uniform to protect them from beheading while boarding ships from the Saracen's Swords?
