When do you think you will get it back, Jon?

Ken, nice score there.  Might make a nice truss bridge in ID.....

We have a pretty big project coming up. The frame on our grain cart keeps cracking. Its 11 inch channel boxed in. Cracks start on the bottom and go up the side. We have been fighting this for a couple years now and its gotten so bad the finally contacted the company for help.

The fix is to grind out and weld the cracks. Then weld on 1/2 inch steel plate to the outside. 17 ft long and 10 inches tall. I dont have my notes in front of me but if I remember right we are to put holes about the size of a paint can every 10 inches staggered top to bottom. Stitch weld 4 inches every 12 inches Weld the holes solid and do not weld the ends.

We will have to remove the tires to get this done. That's a good time to do the wheel bearings. Just in the circle are 7 cracks. That is about 6 ft long. This is the wagon in my profile picture. .

Jon, I used build plates like this often. You have a local guy with a cnc plasma tablet? Save you a lot of time drilling and he can cut the plates to your specs.

He said just cut them out with the plasma cutter. Ours maxes out at 1/2 inch. I guess we will see how that works out.

Gouging tip would work too and usually goes thicker on the material than regular cut nozzles

Well I was sweating since I started shoveling wet heavy snow in my Carhartt jacket, then took it off the remaining hour plus. Oh well I got coffee to cure everything.

I was trying to clear the driveway so it wouldn't keep piling up since it was a snowstorm, and I had just gotten home from work. I'm sort of stubborn.

I appreciated when I lived and worked in Arizona.

I jury rigged a bench top for my temp work spot

Solid core door and two cabinets free from the cabinet shop remodel

It I’ll work for the moment until I get the $ to justify putting in a full set of lower and upper cabinets with a stainless steel bench top

Any good for actual farm work or are they just pretty goin to town shoes? I'm looking for something different than my usual to brands.  I've been looking the Tacova brand and Boulet made in Canada.

Not farming boots at all. Casual to dressy. I wear them all the time, but I own the ostrich skin with calf skin uppers, full height. Soles are comfortable, not hard. but no tread and like to slip around on snow. I get into my Army boots for farm work (today), and wear those Tecovas a lot all other times. Looking/waiting for the return of their rattlesnake skin with a more square toe.
Oh and I find the square toe more comfortable than the pointed toe.

Drill a small hole to get started instead if trying to pierce with the plasma and you should be good to go with a normal cutting tip.  In my experience I have always been able to cut the maximum rated thickness with no issues, even a little bit more.

Got a good start on grinding. Steel came in so start welding cracks tomorrow and maybe get the plate on. That is my nephew for size reference. He is about 5 10.
I started packing wheel bearings by hand like I normally do. Well these are 6 inches across and a good 1 1/2 deep. I gave up after the third time my hands cramped up. Ordered a bearing packer. Supposed to be here Thursday. It's pricey but we will use it quite a bit so figured it's worth it.  https://www.amazon.com/Lincoln-Lubrication-102929-Bearing-Packer/dp/B004RI92MS/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?dchild=1&keywords=lincoln+bearing+packer&qid=1612825685&sprefix=lincon+bearing+&sr=8-4

Looking for suggestions on how to make adjustable feet on my upcoming metal work bench

My first thought is a 1” bolt and weld a nut into the bottom of the leg

Any other good ideas?

This is exactly what our millwrights do when they build a big table.
You only need it on two opposite corners as well.
The legs will be a couple inches shorter, thread or weld a nut inside the bottom plate
Get a 1/2” thick round plate for the foot and voila.
I just don't want to wind up missing a digit or limb.  I can sometimes get in a hurry to get results.

Bolts and nuts are cheap and very reliable.
These are what I went with, because I needed it to be moveable. The floor has to be clean to roll it around tho because dirt/metal filings just embed in the wheels, because of the weight of the table:

How hard are they to adjust with a fair amount of weight on the table?  I like the concept for sure.

Tie the legs together with cross bars 10” off the floor. Use a floor jack to lift and adjust.

Jack would work best. I just use a pry bar to relieve some of the weight. The star wheels have good leverage and nice threads so doesn't take much to lift.

It holds 60,000 lbs easily. Thats a legal load on a semi but I've have had 70 in it a few times. So 1,000 to 1,200  bushels.

We decided to sell our dodge 3500 drw. its a 96 or 97 12 valve cummins 5 speed. Very clean little rust extended cab. Flat bed with goose neck ball. the front end has been rebuilt but The clutch slips when its pulling a trailer, 5th gear grinds when you shift and the rear end leaks a little oil. The engine runs great. I would drive it anywhere right now without a trailer.  We just dont need it anymore. Originally bought it to haul hogs to market but shortly after purchasing we go tout of the pig business. We have been using it as a runaround for a 5 or 6 years now.

If anyone is interested I can send pics. I honestly dont know what its worth. I was going to put it on the Big Iron Auctions but thought I would mention it here first.

Hey boss.
It half fits your want list.
It’s just older and broke in already.

Now I know you said boss lady don’t want more iron.
But this could sit at the farm out o sight until needed

Just throwin it out there.

Man, don't get me started on another project! I have so many, I figure I'll live at least another 50-60 years just to complete all this stuff I have going at the moment.

Ya know the old adage: When you're out of projects, you're dead!

So a “small” project has turned into a pain.  Emptied the pantry and cleaned and caulked shelves and removed doors and drawers.

Since the cabinets were custom finished in a “tea stain” I had to use a high dollar “extreme bond” primer to get adhesion over the varnish without sanding.  It’s an experiment to see if I want to take on the rest of the house

Shooting the undersides of the shelves was a pain. I need to get a whip hose to make maneuvering the gun easier in tight spaces.  Now I need to sand out a couple of sags and shoot two coats of urethane reinforced acrylic.

Kids today don't know how easy they have it. When I was young, I had to walk 9 feet through shag carpet to change the TV channel.

Charles,

The local paint store might also have a angle adjustable head and guard that allows you to swivel the head 90 degrees.

DUSICHIN DUS8325 Spray Guide Accessory Tool for All Airless Paint Sprayer 7/8" w/ 517 Tip 10 Inch Extension Pole https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07RTWWG34/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_19SY32SN41HAQTHKQT0S
I’m not sure what the chrome disc is for but the elbow was helpful in lots of ways along with that six inch extension for saving the bend over to spray the bottom of a standard wall

Whips do make a lot of difference though

Did your board swell much and get a rough texture after paint?

I think it’s a spray shield Dave. Can run it along the edge of something you don’t want sprayed.

Had to haul a couple loads of cornstalk bales for cattle bedding. Miserable weather for this. Being out in the middle of nowhere. I swear my face was borderline frostbitten. Just enough wind to make it horrible.
