well I finally broke down today and added to the inventory! I also got 510 rounds of 55/56grn 5.56 for $206, which comes out to $.403 a round.
-
Now did you buy that case and find a gun inside?
Man, what luck!!!!
-
yeah I wish!
the case and the rifle were bought at the same time. here is the break down of the rifle, but I did not pay that price for it.

Nice!

Better watch out Nate. Being former Army and buying bulk ammo probably put you on BHOs list ...

TRN, don't worry with how much we harass Ken about his GF I'm sure we're all already on a list. Thanks a lot Ken!!!!
-
Not bad. You going to swap the handguards or leave it how it is?
-
If i can find a cheap set of rails for the front, id like to swap them out.

Nate, PM me your new address...I think I can cover that request

Check out Midwest Industries if Chief can't help you out. There's a clearance section and most of their stuff isn't pricey to begin with.
-
I will check them out, because I need to get a single point piece and the wrench to take the nut off.

Negative Ghost rider, PM in bound.

and RGR, reply sent.

Yep, I have one
The one I used on my first Carbine length
Will ship tomorrow
-
I moved away from single points. Too many whacks to the nuts in transitions.

Sure is...catching it in the jewels... ::)
I have also, all in how the sling is rigged, just haven't exactly perfected it.
I like the freedom it provides, but does swing around a bit if you don't get it off to the side some.
-
let me get things situated and ill post up a pic or 2 of how I run things............
-
got a new piece of hardware this afternoon, and I even got it installed.

Well that means you now have to Krylon the rest of the rifle to match.
-
Nice. What brand is it?

I think they were asking about hand guard

I think they were asking about hand guard
Oh well just a quick glimpse it looks like a KAC RAS with UTG grips over the rails. But then again, that style of quad rail has been done by almost everyone.
-
bobby is correct.
-
Coolio
-
i have tossed around the idea for doing a camo job, but for some reason i just have not made up my mind...............?
-
Looks at home Nate!
The paint is Krylon cammo paint...
-
thank you don.
-
what are folks thoughts on painting an ar?!
-
Do it! Make it yours!!
-
what are folks thoughts on painting an ar?!
Most of mine are painted
The guns I used in the Stan (couple of tours) and Iraq (couple of tours) were a combo of painted and black. The paint chips up, but it doesn't interfere with anything.
-
what are folks thoughts on painting an ar?!
Paint it. Doesn't have to be pretty.
-
well I got 3 new pieces of equipment in today, and 2 of them got attached and the other went into the range / tool bag.
a sincere thank you to both of you for the hardware, pm me what I owe you for it / them please.
-
Looks great Nate. So now tell me how you run that thing. Sprinting and climbing and transitioning to pistol without that dangly thing whacking you in the nuts.....
-
RN, I feel ya. looking at it I can't see how to avoid that aspect. Looks great, don't get me wrong, but I don't want my tender bits whacked unexpectedly.
-
are you wearing it strapped across your chest or hanging at your side?
-
over left shoulder, under right armpit. Bungee in front. Its awesome in close quarters but any running and gunning and transitioning and climbing or jumping and stuff gets beat up

Cough, cough...

Yeah, Bobby. Seen that. IMO it takes too much time to strap it down when you are in the moment.

Using the hand that's controlling the handguard, push it into the "clamp". It doesn't take long, and once you get the move down, it'll be second nature.
-
I could see that. I've just moved on to a traditional two point and can rotate (throw it) it over my left shoulder and it rides muzzle down across my back, which makes it easy to navigate obstacles or climb. Then grab the muzzle end and rotate it under my right arm back into fighting position

I like 2 point slings.

did a little camo work

That looks good. You're close enough to Canada to use a maple leaf....I have that same case. You've just inspired me

True. When I was younger I would have "1". It was a 60/40 crown and 7 in a 32 ounce mason jar with a handle. I'd be wrecked.

Came across this today, what do you all think?

That's pretty slick. At my big5, just the Mossberg security style is 350.....I looked at it but ended up with the savage for 2 bills.

If you're looking for a good deal on a shotgun, look for a Mossberg 500 Flex. It's set up for turkey hunting (usually) in the stores; HOWEVER, you get a pistol grip and a free HD barrel with the purchase. Added bonus it's already OD green, so you don't need to paint it. It's roughly the same price as the one you posted.

EDIT: It's a little more than what you posted, however I think you could probably get it cheaper in other places or from your buddy who owns the gunstore.
-
personally I'm a Remy 870 guy. Mainly for standardizing weapons systems and that's whay I started with.
I've heard good things about the Moss' as well. Try gunbroker. Lots of good deals there and I've bought a few things from there
-
I've always been an 870 guy too but for what they want for these I have been contemplating getting a couple if nothing more than dbilg (dumb brother in law gun)..... Plus I'm hearing the Remington quality is dropping & my last 700 isn't anything to write home about....

I can and have used 500s and 870s. I can work them both. Both are good choices and affordable.

I think I got lucky last Christmas.
I run all Mossy platforms except for one Winchester which has probably killed a thousand squirrels!
Anyhow, I picked up a nice Remington 870 for the little Ranger and it was a very nice gun.
For you Nate, you didn't say, were you buying this shotgun for hunting? Or home defense?
Take Bobby's advice or at least take a look at that combo. One gun shoots quail or undocumented home invaders!
-
You have definitely got some Canadian(s) out your way, (feathered, not distilled, but some of that too;-) but for the gun, foregrip and pistol grip you'd be $296 with the 870 clone. You want to bird hunt, I've got a "recently saved from auction" over/under you can borrow ;D

-
Well I misdirected, must be me hanging around that H supporter Ken rubbing off on me.... ::)
Anyhow ended up with another 870, this one is called the "tactical" model but it's the lesser expensive non magpul furniture version. Does have extended mag & breacher affixed to the end of it along with rail & ghost ring.
I also picked up a sling for it & the receiver side attach shell holder.
-
does it look like this one?

No pistol grip & all black but other than that yes it does. Will get pics posted tomorrow. Remington has a $50 rebate on them until 9-30-16
-
I have a pistol grip with adjustable stock, and a barrel heat shield for a mossy 500/590 I'll give ya Nate if you end up going with a mossberg and buy one with regular furniture and want to mix it up

I ended up with a Mossy 500 tactical tri rail when I was shopping for an 870.
It was all loaded up to some extent, and around 400 bucks.
The plain 870 was about 650 IIRC, and needed the magpul stuff, rails etc.
Having run both, it came down to $$$.
With no previous standard set for tactical 12 ga, I went with the 500, and now I guess it is set.
-
I'm in mine for around $500 (after rebate) from cabelas & I'm sure there are less expensive places....

So I picked this bad boy up today. Mossberg 500C FLEX Cost me $388.00 out the door (that's whats nice about buying from the PX, NO TAX)
-
Solid pickup Nate

-
Nice, come with the case or was that an add on?
-
Shoot, Shawn you beat me to it.
-
so the gun was originally $500 when I ordered it, and I used the refund from that along with a $60 gift card that I had and only had to fork over $50 some dollars for the $229 case.
I am having to keep things a bit mobile right now, so that is why I have the 2 cases and not a safe yet.
-
kyle, you were saying something about the adjustable pistol grip buttstock, is that for a FLEX system or no?
-
Should be the same. I imagine the receiver is the same across all 500/590s

Barrel heat shield is yours too. Would look wicked against a green barrel

What did you use to cut the foam?
-
I used a little scalpel / xacto knife from walmart
-
kyle, here is what the FLEX system looks like at the back of the receiver / front of the pistol grip / buttstock.
-
Oh that's different... Don't think it'll work hoss

done!

It's only missing a magazine tube extension!
Nice
-
Could use a sling & ammo saddle but I'm sure he'll get it tuned up in RM fashion in no time short!
-
I have a sling that holds 25 or 30
And a bandolier that holds 50
The latter is in the back of my truck. Just have to grab the gun and the sling and I can stay in it for awhile.
-
no worries on the sling, my single point fits it.

I had a sling that held a bunch, but the sling for sling purposes sucked. Thus I went to those saddles & am looking into a belt goose hunters use. It's padded & pretty wide so it holds quite a few, won't restrict movement etc & will keep you going.
-

I was about to say you should be able to use it on multiple items.

So...
