I 100% agree with the sentiment of this photo. I just find it rather odd that they are using a high school JROTC Cadet rather than an actual veteran.

Checked them out...No bueno on S&W

That sucks! They do beautiful work, and have been around as a small business for almost 100 years.

I think that we are probably already involved in a world war, just not the conventional one we are familiar with.....yet. The current war is being fought in a "cold" fashion, using cyber and economic means. The proxy wars are heating up, and like oklawall said, could go either way.

Those are some good looking doors. How do they seal? I know the fiberglass doors on my HMMWV back in my Scout Plt days leaked like a sieve every time it rained. LOL. Had to get used to leaning inboard.

I don't know about traitor, as I believe that requires intent. I think whoever continues to support him in the general populace is just a bigger fool. Compounded with the lack of drive to research and critically think about what is actually happening vs. what is being reported.

Works great on tanks/IFVs because of the armor acting to tamp/redirect the explosive force. Light skinned wheeled vehicle? I think those guys are smoking crack!

Definitely!

All of that gets packed up for the movement phase and installed for the RON locations where there is no vehicular movement.

Gotcha!

D.O.T. / Re: Medicare/Medicade
« on: October 27, 2023, 11:34:32 AM »
The only thing I know, is that Medicare will be primary. Whatever Medicare does not cover, Tricare is supposed to pick up. I think the American Legion, and or VFW, has people who can assist with explaining how it all works. I would reach out to the Legion first, and see if they can point you in the direction of someone who can explain it in clear layman's terms. Hope that helps!

Wow! I'd expect that from a diesel without an exhaust brake, but that's some piss poor engine braking from a gas-burner.

25
That's shameful.

Adventure / Re: Out west off road adventure

Use the transmission, and transfer case more for speed control coming down hills. That'll save the brakes. It's always better to travel off road with at least one other vehicle. That way you can share parts, tools, know-how...or have a way to get off the trail.

Glad both boys could be together for the Greening!

Sucks to hear how they're treating Nate. I'm with you, he'd have been put in for an AAM/ARCOM each time. I've had several interactions with 3ID seniors, and was not impressed. They are kinda the bastard step child, being the only 2 ABCTs in 18th Corps, but that's no excuse for poor leadership.

I'm a little concerned about the heater hanging outside the tent rack doomahicky. I'd be afraid of catching it on a rock or tree while negotiating an obstacle/narrow trail. It is outboard of the passenger side rails, isn't it?

From what I understand the victim had received the vaccination. Sent from a reliable source.
Concur from the overindulgence in energy drinks and other supplements. Caught my boy swallowing half a teaspoon of salt before a weightlifting session...!

I found Amazon a cheap place to order Dog tags, I then ordered a few “Mixed” “diesel”, “clear” tags then used some small 1/8” wire and cable crimps to permanently attach to my gas cans for the atv, dirtbikes, mowers. It made for an easy way to identify what’s in what, kids can read what’s on each can and I don’t mix or cross cans when using them for three different machines all using different fuel

Thats an interesting idea!
I was going to just buy a paint pen, but that little 1-gal is the only one I own now, so easy to distinguish. Having said that, labeling of some sort is in order.

Paint it OD green, and be done. Easy! ;-)

I wonder if he even got the C-19 vaccine. That would be an indicator. Since the USC ruled against requiring the vaccine, it has been optional but encouraged. That happened last year (?). There has also been a spike in cardiac related incidents with the younger generation tied to prolific use of energy drinks and work-out supplements, going back 10 years. Not that I'm for the vaccine, but depending on when this kid entered the pipeline, he may not have received it.

That said, flight school is stressful, and requires a lot of study. On top of that, you have to maintain fitness standards. I'd bet, a lot of these hard charging type As are relying on gallons of Monster to stay awake while studying. And probably hitting the gym with every pre and post workout supplement the GNC on post will sell them. I've had several Cadets in the past have cardiac issues due to burning the candle at both ends and mainlining that crap. one of whom is now a successful Armee whirlybird jockey.

33
True. But, this thing is armored about like a Bradley. Bradleys can kill tanks, too. Key is not drawing the attention of its tank buddies when you do. LOL

34
Engine in the front. No crew compartment in the back, though. Unlike the Merkava, it is not intended to engage other tanks. The front engine provides protection for the crew, as it is light on armor. This vehicle ways in a little less than a Bradley.

35
What is the top speed? I may need one of those for my daily driver. I'm sure the dogs would be cool with sticking their heads out of the turret

Sent from my SM-N975U using Tapatalk

I really don't know anything about it, but I would guess its top speed would be around 30-35mph somewhere. The M60A1 I crewed/commanded back in the day had a governed speed of 32mph. We all removed the governor and then it would hit close to 40 on a slight decline.

Probably more in the range of 40+ mph (governed).

36
That makes more sense to me.

Looking at it and that huge turret and 105mm gun, I was thinking I could see one of these in a platoon of Bradley's to take care of nuisance enemy tanks and aircraft carriers and the Battlestar Galactica!
Thing looks cool...Diesel: check, 105mm: check, lighter weight: check

Not designed to take on tanks. Focus is more on bunkers and other obstacles to the crunchy. That said, the 105 (which shares a lot of the same systems as the Abrams, and could be up-gunned to 120) is capable of destroying tanks. It's armor, though...

Praying

38
It's not an IFV. The current army term for this is Mobile Protected Firepower (MPF). It's a light tank, but we're not allowed to call it that. Mostly, because it will belong to light infantry units (even though it'll crewed by tankers). LOL! Think along the lines of a new Sheridan. It DOES NOT carry infanrtymen/dismounts.

Driver side battery should be correct. Unless they changed it from the 5.9, the passenger side is for starting, and driver is for the auxiliaries. FYI, don't jump start anything from the aux battery. ;-)

Thats good news for the battery swap.

LS is way easier and cheaper.

Hemi would be easier than LT ot LS. Probably plug and play since they already offer it. Be aware that those axles may not hold up to V8 horsepower. ;-)

So, Don, how big a tire can you fit under that truck without a lift? My '06 3500 will fit a 35 without rubbing. I currently run 285/75R17 on the stock rims, which measure right at 34" using a tape measure.

Yea, me either
However, how does one work around the choice of so many companies to manufacture in the China?

I research, and if I can find something suitable made in the USA, I go that route. Of course, I've never been that concerned about weight of a battery. LOL!

This demonstrates how weak minded the human population has become. SMH. This is tragic, but I am unable to understand how anyone could be convinced to do something so permanent, especially by someone you've never met in person.
