39 could be our annual low temp here in Houston

Yep. I have lived in Los Angeles and Dallas for years. Year round it went from Summer to Kinda Summer with a spot of cold every once in a while. Not bad sitting by the pool in shorts on Christmas. I do like the seasons up here though. Just not winter. Fall is great because it starts to kill off the state bird... Skeeters.  ;D

We collaborated on a build for Uncle Ted through Tough Country Suspension. We provided Gears and Hardcore hubs and chromoly axles  via a Yukon spin free conversion kit

Very cool. Gotta love Uncle Ted's passion! He's living life on his terms which is awesome. Looks like a beast of a truck.

Funny story- the very first concert I ever went to was Ted at the old Boston Garden. A friend of mine in school got tickets from Ted's producer for about 6 or 7 of us so we went.....6th row. We were told afterwards to go to this little restaurant in Boston....we didn't know why but we went. Ted and the opening act (Mahogany Rush) were there. I think there were maybe 15 or 20 people there in all including us. Was a pretty cool way to meet him. Of course every concert after that I ever went to kind of sucked....."What do you mean we don't get to hang out with the band?" haha.

Me too... Maybe I'm crazy but we have 9 kids and I look at it as a tool. Now she has to help transport kids around.

Last Tuesday we were split in to three different states playing volleyball, football practice, FFA, and quiz bowl. My wife and I both have over full time jobs and the oldest is dual enrolled in HS and college courses. The second oldest is dual enrolled in high school and getting his welding cert at the tech center...

Until I can get Scotty to beam the little insurgents to and from, Emma is going to have to pitch in and help! LOL

Argue with propane dealer (they didn't approve of my plumbing ::) ) then loaded the 120 gallon tank on trailer & hauled it to another dealer who re certified it for 5 more years $10 fee & topped it off with propane. Hauled it home unloaded & then took trailer to buy base gravel for short retaining wall I'm building.

We opted for not getting into traveling volleyball. My daughter loves it and plays in the city league, but we hear how it runs your life. At 13 she is 5-8 and a darn good player.

Almost need the driving help with 3 kids in 2 schools, Scouts, Volleyball, Crosscountry and Basketball. Wife is gone from 0530 until almost 1700 when she picks up our daughter.

Oh, I did seal some rust on the burb, sand some of the roof and prime and on the way out to plug the antenna holes in the side. This is while the boys do their homework.

Well CAFSAC 2016 is all but wrapped up.
I ended up third in my class, again, and am content with it.
I coulda, woulda, shoulda, etc, but that was how the chips rolled.
Lots of the US army and British army here as well this year, a few returning buddies and more again from last year and previous years.
Good to have everyone here.

Nice score on the pickup, and should be a useful tool for he next while.
Lead sled, looked at, had in cart once even, would be nice to have for sure.
I just don't want to wind up missing a digit or limb.  I can sometimes get in a hurry to get results.

Went to the hide to hide from 7 teenage girls having sleepover at my house. Installed a wifi thermostat, a 2 stage filter for the fridge, harvested peppers, laid out a new door mat, fixed a couple of security cameras (ants got into one and killed it) sprayed organize pest and fungus treatment, a few other things and then headed back home to assess the damage.

Well, awake after a late night spent celebrating my daughter and new son's wedding.  Despite all I've heard over the years, Detroit is nicer than Chicago!  Everywhere I went, there's new/re-construction and people outside having a good time and a visible police presence doing the job.  Less congestion than what I'm used to as well.

Here's a shot of my daughter and I then youngest one photo bombing my shot of Makers for Nate and then one of the venue.

Congrats Mike.  Officially off the payroll ?

My youngest wanted to change up her decor. I got roped into applying the wall decal. As you can see she is going with the flamingo theme.

Road trip preparation day,

Cleaned the injectors that started out here
The set up was pretty simple, 1/2 inch hose, 5/8 hose I think it was and some hose clamps on the ends.  Filled a half gallon of fuel and 14oz of cleaner to the mix.  It's ran for a little bit more then 2 hours

While she ran I shampooed the carpets.
Scrubbed the leather and added some conditioner to make for a soft seat on the road

Mapped out my trip to Mike L at englewood transmission in Fullerton California

I think my transfer case went out night in my 82 chevy. I was out cruising around back roads. Doing about 40 on gravel. Heard a bang and the engine bogged down. Just wouldn't go. Put it in reverse and nothing. Just bogged the engine down. I thought the rear end locked up. I put it in park and got out and realized i was rolling slowly backwards down hill. Slight incline. Just barely moving but if the rear end was locked up i would not be moving. So I block the wheels and lock in the hubs throw it in 4x4. I work it back and forth. drive to reverse a couple times. I heard a clunk from underneath  now I'm moving. Great. I put it back in 2 wheel and the engine reves up and pegs the speedometer. So I can only go  anywhere in 4x4 or actually front wheel drive. I had already called my brother to bring the roll back. I drove it on the truck and there it sits. I didn't lose a drive shaft. There is no oil leaking. Yea i could have driven it home in front wheel drive but I already had a truck on the way. My luck I would not have made it far.

I once snapped the pinion gear in half in the rear axle of one of my trucks. Had to use 4WD (FWD) to move which got me home, but it ground the entire diff and housing into useless pig iron.

I have blown up my spider gear set before just backing out of parking spot.   The smaller gears turned to chunks and blocked up the larger gear from rolling.   Pull the drain plug and see what comes out.  Easy enough

On another damage report.  I blew a transmission hose today on my test drive to get a red box movie.   Poured trans fluid all the way there and all the way home

$113 bucks and I have two houses.   Installed the problem hose and purchased the other to have the trans shop install next week when they rebuild all of that.   Fluid smells burnt like hell too

Yea I talked to a couple people and they say its the rear end. I will pull the cover off and that will tell the tale I guess. We are gearing up for harvest so I'm going to have shove it in a shed for now and work on it work on it later.

Jon,

is this a half ton? let me know what you need when you determine the cause. I'll see about finding a distributor closer to home if you need something quick, but if it's diff parts, I most likely have them waiting for you in KY or TN warehouse.

Yea its a half ton with a 6.2 diesel. It is the rear end. I had my brother watch and the drive shaft just spins. I have a buddy with a few square bodies laying around hopefully he has what I need. Otherwise I will let you know. Thanks Tate.

Just don't put another 8.5 under there if you have that. Go right to the 9.5, they seem to be way better and should be a bolt in.

If you do opt for a transplant, available 6 lug 9.5" 14 bolts would be found in LD 3/4 ton trucks from 1986-1993. And HD 1500 from 1979-1995, but all will be about 3" wider track width overall.

I am putting the 9.5 into my 91 flip suburban. It has the 8.5 stock and they blow like crazy. The HD will have 8 lugs though and even the 6 lug may have 14mm vs 1/2 studs.

I have an 80 3/4 4x4 sitting here but it's a project. I didn't want Rob parts off it just to keep the beater going. I did think about pulling the axles out and putting them under the 82. But then I'm back to square one.

Is there such a thing as more broken? The rear end was busted already but I broke it more. Or broke more things would be the way to say it. Drove it to the shop from the house. About 150 yards. Almost made it.

That's definitely more broken. More broker...more mess.
I just don't want to wind up missing a digit or limb.  I can sometimes get in a hurry to get results.

Bent some conduit and ran 220 to the oven in the shop and a 110 for the beer fridge and the blast cabinet

Kids today don't know how easy they have it. When I was young, I had to walk 9 feet through shag carpet to change the TV channel.

Bought a couple compound bows from the lady that lives up from my parents. She was selling them at her rummage sale 2 weekends ago, finally picked them up today. They aren't the super greatest that have the laser guided, GPS aided bows that shoot arrows at mach 3 with pinpoint precision at mile. But for $60 I won't complain.
