Bobby, are you leaking at one of the seals or the cover?

Pinion seal. Nothing major, so once dad's garage floor and the driveway are re-done, I will see about replacing it.

UPDATE: Picked up the Saturn this afternoon... the clutch feels a lot crisper. Apparently the slave cylinder was leaking, and the former owner must've been a clutch rider, as the clutch plates were worn down to the pins basically. So it's a good thing that it was all replaced.

Well it rained so we couldent combine. I started the day wanting to get the rear end back in my 82. The other one shelled out. Got a differant one. Gears are rough but its all I could find. Got it under there and jacked up. The U bolts are too long. Ran out of threads. Napa has to order shorter ones.
So on to the service truck. It has a big screw air compressor run off pto. The power company that has it before said it quit working and they were tired of fixing it. Push the reset button and it fires up. That took a whole 5 minutes.
The peterbuilt I got a few months ago don't have air horns on it. The guy that had it before took them off to make room for more cab lights. He put train horns on it. He took the train horns off when he traded it. So I went and got some train horns and when I crawled under it to install them I found broken flex pipe on the exhaust. Ended up replacing everything from the turbo to the T. Had to drive 90 mile round trip to get the elbow but whatever. Didn't have anything else to do.
By the time we got that all done the beans tried out enough to combine for a couple hours before it got dark and the dew came out.

New windshield last night.
Small outfit that does them in town, home business two guys.
This is at least an annual thing for me as I'm pummelled with rock all the time.

Turns out this spring they had a bad batch of eurathane and it didn't seal properly.
I'd told them I thought it was leaking.
When they pulled the old glass they found two spots that hadn't adhered at all.

They ate my deductible to make it right.
Made my day.
I just don't want to wind up missing a digit or limb.  I can sometimes get in a hurry to get results.

Was that directed to me? If so, I'm just working on small things that I need/want to take care of on XJ before winter. I still have to:
Get windshield sprayers to work (probably the pumps)
Upgrade headlights to H4 bulbs and housings
New headlight harness
Put new fender on
Order fender flares for front
Put new fender liners on
Get a decently treadlife remaining used tire for a spare
Flush out the coolant and re-fill it
Flush and fill the power steering
Oil change (Non Square D version)

I'm sure something else will come to me.

i will be starting an 8 week CDL course

So you landed a job with that outfit then?

Nope, i figured why not take advantage of a $15K course for free while i am waiting for something to develope.  Besides, this company has lifetime job placement.

So a CDL course is 15K now? Does that include a passing grade on the test even if you need to redo part of it? While at the County Road Dept. we did all the training, provided the truck and trailer and a driver to deliver the truck to the test area. If I remember correctly we even paid for the endorsement as the job required it. The renewals were on the drivers not us. Darn man do you really want to rattle around in a tractor or dump truck at your age? Too many other things to do  than be a driver with all the bull to have to wade through.

this is the full blown course.  this will give me class A/B/C with doubles, triples, tankers, hazmat, bus, dump truck, cement mixer, fork lift, airbrakes, passenger, etc.  upon graduation, where ever I end up at, I will still have to take whatever companies class so they can satisfy their insurance needs.

I am not saying that I really want to be bouncing around in a tractor across country or whatever, I am just trying to add a little something to the skill set for different employment options.  you still got contacts with the county/state?
If you need the promise of eternity in the kingdom of heaven to be a good person … You were never a good person in the first place!

Well, ridin' around on Sarge isn't all that taxing

But now that you mention it, pushing the gas pedal was a bit of a problem

See, my ankle won't pivot with that boot on, so you have to raise and lower your whole leg to push the pedal

But once I got used to it

I HAD A BLAST!

started the day by removing the front tire from the riding lawn mower.  Its had a super slow leak for a long time.  cleaned  it and dunked it in a large bucket of water.  Found the leak and broke down the tire.  Decided to go tube.  Drove to town to get a tube and some fittings.

Installed my rapidair tubing in the shop, just a couple of drops for now.

Painted one of the doors an espressor brown.  Now the trim looks like it needs to be painted a different color.

Currently setting lookout for a polar bear so the kiddos can go trick or treating.
Not at all a normal situation. This bear is apparently lost, we normally don't have them around town. The community as a whole really stepped up, and we have a pretty good blanket around town.

Now on a more interesting note, the lake has begun to freeze. Had to break out of 50-60 feet of half inch ice yesterday leaving the cabin. Boat season might just be done for the year.
I did manage to get some of the solar set up and I believe I am done with the outside portion now.

Now the pics or it didn't happen...

Once I have everything and a bit more done I'll do the 1kW off grid solar thread.

Happy Halloween everyone!

Global warming...yeah...convince the guy who has had snow on the ground since October 2nd...
Climate change, I may buy into, but I'm more the climate cycle type believer.

We've been in the 20's at night a few times and not seeing 50 for a high now for at least a couple weeks.

So uneventful evening, which was a good thing, all the kids that were out were all good.

Bought a new tire, apparently I hit a piece of glass (not sure if it was a bottle or what) but I heard it explode then the air pressure releasing. Made it about 200 yards to find a 3-4" cut in the side wall of the duratrac. Threw on the spare & put the other new tire up front as well. Took the good old front tire off & it's now the spare.....

Per the rules, no I don't have a pic of tire (busy day) but can get you a pick of the bill if anyone (other than Ken) needs.....

The last few days I have put some small amount of work into an old ax I found.  I stripped the old clear coat off the handle and replaced it with some dark stain I had under the work bench.  Then put about a bizilion coats of lacquer clearcoat on it, sanding in between each coat to make the wood grain disappear and leave a glass smooth finish

Well finished loading 959 9mm, one at a time ( the other 40 were test loads, and 1 lost primer). It sucked enough that I'm in the market for a progressive press. Likely a Dillon. 5-6 hours total time, too many steps in bulk quantities.
I've still got a few k of 9mm to load, then similar for the 45, and 12-15k 5.56.

Once that's done I'll be in a better ammo spot.

I'd post a pic of the ammo can of 9mm, but my photobucket account is not happy at the moment.

Loaded up 9 different loads for the AR to try out tomorrow.
Having a range day to try these, verify the zero on my 300 for jumpers, and some general gunpowder therapy.

Packed up the collection of treasures to ship to Clint at Heavy Buffers for assembly of my upper while I await replenishment of funds to complete the lower.  Getting close!

Winterized the camper and fixed a loose light switch that was stripping from the wall - fished two pieces of wood behind the wall to act as clamps with the screws......it even worked as planned!

Kids today don't know how easy they have it. When I was young, I had to walk 9 feet through shag carpet to change the TV channel.

So here's the 9mm. 959 rounds in the box.

And then 461 5.56 loaded up today.

So with me being out of bullets on to more pressing things like the few pounds of beets starting to go. So pickled beets I thought. And into the canner they go.

Mom says its grandmas old recipe, yum. But I'll have to wait for the pickle to set in...

Sat:  Put camper at storage site, blew and mowed leaves, pulled last two broken fence post/concrete out of the ground and replaced post/concrete.  Swore while pulling the one by the tree!  Finished fence repairs and collapsed in recliner after wife's Fajitas.  Was so sore that my glutes hurt!

Sun:  Went pheasant hunting with my buddy Ray - traipsing through saw grass and wetlands - if it wasn't wet, you were stumbling to lift your feet!  Got home and cleaned the birds and took the clippers to the dogs - rotten burs!  Now they're less likely to be picking them up in mass!  Grilled steaks and collapsed in recliner!  Yep, glutes still hurt in same places plus some new places!

Saturday I got to help a coworker cut and clear some of his property this weekend. Ten acres up on Monti Christo area if you map it.  Beautiful area with a ton of aspens everywhere.  The largest trunk was about 26 inches wide.  My saw didn't go all the way across.   I scaled it, delimbed it, tied it off and yanked it down, Sawed up and stacked the wood.  Then moved to already blown over trees.  I wish I had taken photos. But four tanks of fuel in the saw and I was beat!

He had an awesome fire pit.  Rock crusher cone he drug up the mt and called it a fire pit.  Almost two inches thick at the thinnest point on the edge. Massive!!

Sat at my desk all day with my foot propped up.

I guess one is not supposed to teach self defense 3 weeks after breaking one's foot...
